    Someone finally got it right.
    One knob per function in a layout designed to inspire and get mixes done efficiently.
    It’s one step closer to blurring the lines between analog and digital.
    This is cool!!!

    Gotta hand it to SSL even though this only works with their own plugins. We’ve been asking universal audio for a control surface like this for years and all they did was create a DAW 😂 - props to SSL for making this - I won’t be buying it since I don’t use SSL’s plugins but RESPECT.

      I think it wouldn’t fit UA‘s philosophy. They offer gear from different companies and this would require a one to one replica controller of the hardware otherwise it would defeat its purpose of replicating analog in the digital domain. In addition each gear has different layout schemes and little functions (phase, 15k boost, etc…) you would have to fit in to make it true to the original.

      The UF8 will work with UA Luna in a couple of months. You will be able to control the UA plugins as well. You can control UA plugins in various DAW’s with the uf8

      @@Jjf109nine I think a generic controller would still be better than a mouse 🍷

      @@Jjf109nine I want this to help save DSP space with my UA interface. I'm thinking of using this to complement my Apollo maybe use the UA stuff for my vocal chain and the SSL native for everything else. I must admit the UA stuff is so good I cant let it go.

    An 8 channel ssl soundcard from SSL that adds the analog color would make the SSL takeover complete.

    I love how in the comparison demo starting 13:20 you were able to defeat ALL the processing on one button, for a full review of where it had started and where you’d got to.. I dont have a way of doing that at the moment.

    The hardware 2 bus compressor adds a sparkle to the top end that the plugin does not. The transients are a little different as well but both the hardware and software are good.

    Wow, loks fantastic. The only thing I’m missing is the, let’s call it UM-1. A Master Unit with transport, jug/shuttle encoder, monitor controller, cut, copy, paste, undo, redo, Master Fader, Aux and Bus selector, Marker, punch in and out and so on. A Monitor controller Section my be with real physical ins and outs., 3 Sets of Speakers and 2 sets of headphone jacks. If there weren’t physical ins and outs it would also make sense to control the monitoring section in the daw. May be That would make the system perfect.

    • @G_handle
      @G_handle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just wrote the same thing. Fader, Jog/Shuttle, Arrows, F Keys/Short Cuts galore. However the Monitor Controller will likely either be on a SiX type Analog Mixer, or SSL2+ type Interface that can be triggered by the Transport/Monitor Controller. My fingers are crossed for a Solo in Front solution, like on a Large Format Console.

    For Brian, why do you feed the drums into a master fader and THEN into busses for crush and verb? Why not a buss fader for all drums, like all the other groups of instruments? I notice this for your final busses as well - master, then buss. Also I noticed you feed the vox verb into the music buss, not the vocal buss. Would love to know your thinking there as well. Thanks,

    Missed opportunity to print the values around the rotary knobs.

    • @MassimoDagostin
      @MassimoDagostin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Would it make any sense, though? Since it’s plugin mapped, it has to change from channel to channel and I don’t see the point in printing the values around the knobs when they’re gonna have different values for every channel strip.

  • @FrancisJoa
    @FrancisJoa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Take the controller encoders for the bus comp out and give us a fader instead or encoders to control plugin synths or other effects. That would make it perfect. Encoders for a bus comp which you rarely even touch during a mix is a waste of space.

    So for a little over 2k you can have a compact SSL console in a sense. For us old farts that worked on consoles this may be a game changer. Maybe there should be an UF8 and UC1 bundle. The only let down to me is the connection is USB. May have to trade my S1 in and give this a shot since I used SSL mainly.

    ! Quick question when clicking on the E button does it turn the whole channel strip into the 4000E version or part of the eq knobs? sorry for the dumb question

    • @alexbreyer6921

      I don't believe it's the 4000 E, rather E is referring to a standard of EQ curves.

    @rectape 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Too bad it is enormous. Spliting this in two units (1 for the channel strip, 1 for the bus comp) would have been killer. I don't need the G comp controler and it takes a lot of space.
