This is a great video. I purchased 3 of the micro-air's. I never even looked at the instructions, yours are so much more thorough. It's nice being able to pause and rewind and double and triple check the wiring. On my front air it dropped the start up amps from 25 amps to 11amps. What sold me was you took the time to meter before and after otherwise how you gonna know if the thing is working. Good Job and Thanks.
Thanks for the positive feedback, I try to do the things that other videos left out that I wish they had included. Sometimes I will watch many video looking for one specific detail to an installation before I will do it myself, Larry
HANDS DOWN, THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL FOR THE MICRO-AIR E/S INSTALL. AWESOME JOB ON THE EDIT (ADDING TEXT AND ILLUSTRATED/PICTORIAL AIDS). THANKS FOR TAKING TIME AND EFFORT TO PRODUCE THIS. CHEERS!
Seymour, thank you so much. Larry works so hard on his videos. It’s great to hear people notice. If you know of anyone else or a group this might benefit, please share. It helps are channel. Thanks again, Alice
Man, Larry can I ever identify with you even though I am 73 years old. I am also having a rough time with arthritis in both thumbs on my hands, making it harder and harder to squeeze and use hand tools. I really appreciate you taking the time and detailed effort to make such an informed video on your easy-start installation. I also have an RV with a Mach 15 roof A/C with heat pump. About a year and a half ago I installed the Micro-Air 364 Easy Start with bluetooth on my RV. And just before that I purchased a Honda 2200 EUI Companion generator with hopes of running my air conditioner while dry camping. I too am a fairly capable handyman and consider myself a perfectionist (like you) and pretty much a jack-of-all trades. I owned a small satellite TV business and did all of my own istallations and service for over 30 years. I found the Easy-Start fairly simple to install even though it took me over 2 hours to install it. (that's the downside of being a perfectionist). Anyway all of that said to see if you can help me figure out whats going on with my A/C system. I was able to get my A/C to start and operate with my generator after I initially installed the Easy-Start although I felt my generator struggled a bit to run it. Now, all of a sudden, over a year later, after the compressor kicks on using my Honda generator, my A/C unit runs for about 30 seconds after starting the compressor, then my generator surges to around 1790 amps and then throttles down to around 350 amps which stalls the compressor and only runs the fan. It does this even with all my other circuits shut off. If I use my 30 Amp ac power or my onboard Onan 4000 generator, it doesn't do this. I don't understand what is causing my Honda generator to surge. Could my A/C capacitor be failing and causing this? (You guys are the kind of people who we always hope that we end up next to in a campground) We hope we'll run into you someday on our journeys if you're still out there. Please help me if you can and thanks again, Paul
update: This is the original Coleman air conditioner that came from the factory on my motorhome. I am the 2nd owner of this RV. The original owner that purchased it lived in a senior retirement RV park in Phoenix, AZ for two years before selling it. This tells me that there are 1000's of hours of run time from running it almost constantly in Az. So yesterday I replaced both of the start and run capacitors just to see if they were causing my problem. Lo and behold, replacing them solved the mystery of my generator surging. Now I can actually start and run my AC unit at under 14 amps with my 2200 watt generator. The fact is that the run capacitor had worn out from overuse. Happy camper once again!
I have watched 5 or 6 Easy Start installation videos. This was absolutely the best. The highlighted still photos showing all the connections is most helpful. I am now a subscriber due to this vlog. Thank you.
Roger, we are glad to hear you found it so helpful. Large tries to be thorough but not too long. Feel free to ask any questions. And we would love it if you shared the video with someone who might benefit. Thanks for subbing too 🤗 Alice
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video!! You are good at this! I had to drill another hole for the East start wires because the hole was too small for all the wires.
Thank you. Larry loves making videos like this- this video was actually playing at the Tampa RV show in their booth. It is a tight fit to get the wires through. Hopefully, when Larry gets better, he’ll make more videos like this
Thank you so much for such an informative video. I installed one of these on my RV this weekend and after all the other things installed my brain was mush. I remembered you did a step by step for the Coleman A/C. This is awesome! Wish more people would do step by step like you do! Can’t thank you enough!
Thanks for the walk-through Larry! I already planned to do this before spring on the two Mach 10 units on our new rig, as our generator is 2800W continuous/3100W peak. You've shown just how easy that project will be - thanks for such a well-done video!
Marc, the timing of this video was a bit off- just before winter 😅 but we wanted to show what a difference it really makes. We’ve only done one air so far- the one we use the most. We might do the other. Thank you so much for watching and your positive thoughts, Alice
What a great, informative and safety oriented vid - 20 minutes time well spent for any RV owner. Don't be humble Larry, you are an excellent DIY trainer/teacher. Well Done !
THANK YOU - I used your well detailed video after I hooked everything up as a confirmation before powering anything. You confirmed that I did NOT have to remove any other wires. Great Video. Thank you Again.
Thanks for the detailed video. I installed mine today and it worked perfectly. Didn't even need to look at the manufacturers directions. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much! This was the best video for installing the Easy Start I have found. You made the installation straight forward and mush simpler than the PDF or video from Micro Air.
Matthew, we really appreciate hearing this. Because their instructions were not as thorough, that’s why Larry made one. Maybe they should put our video on their website 😉 Alice
Daniel, thank you. That’s what Larry aims for. He wants all the information needed in one video, but couldn’t find it. So he made his own. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. If you know anyone that might benefit from our video, please share. It helps TH-cam see us 🤗 Alice
Glad we could help. We plan on adding one to our second AC, but Larrys recent health crisis has a bit behind schedule. But he’s about to add another “Larry Lesson” video to his Solar Series 🤗
Hi there! We will definitely be doing this once our trailer arrives. I have been told by the Outdoors RV manufacturer that the elusive missing stove hood has been installed and it is in line for PDI, then shipping! Thank you for this thorough video! ORVs have Coleman 15k btu a/c’s, but I don’t have the model yet. We will also be almost exclusively boondocking, so will be installing a solar system and occasionally running/charging the rig with a generator. I would LOVE to not be toting around a 100lb generator, so will follow your system to cut back on the large electrical draw. Safe travels!
Thank you. We are thinking about installing a soft start for the other AC and do a comparison. Also, we are finally working on our solar overview. Look for it as our latest video. Our Honda 2200 is about 50 lbs. Larry uses a luggage cart often due to his RA to move it around. We have learned more batteries is better than more solar. Good luck and I hope our overview will help, Alice
Hi guys! Thanks for this - we installed ours this morning - same AC unit, same Micro-Air, same install! Thanks for confirming everything for us. Now, let there be sun!!! Up here, in Quebec, it's still not that hot...but, summer is around the corner! Thanks for the easy to follow videos! Great job :-) Remi
Remi, glad we could help. Even cloudy days, we get a bit of solar. But we are looking forward to some sun here too. And remember, it helps a lot of our videos are shared with like minded people. Thanks again.
Great DIY video on this! Thanks for taking the time to show the install and the comparison with the hard-start capacitor as well as the Micro-air! This makes it look very easy and now I'm sure I too can tackle this one! Thanks for all you're doing and for the discount code! Cheers!
Andrew, Larry was surprised how easy it actually was to install and what a big difference it makes. We were so glad to be able to use our AC dry camping in the Everglades when it was highs in the mid 80s. Glad you used the code. We hope it works out. Alice
Hi Larry, thank you for the soft start video. Ordered mine couple days ago as we plan on staying at State Parks as much as possible and boondocking as well. Also meant to respond to your video reviewing the Honda Generators you did earlier and say that I have the smaller 1000 watt Honda now for 21 year and to date have never had a problem. Used it on more boondocking camping trips than I can count. As well as at home during power outages it has run all night long powering heater in the RV cause couldn’t stay in the house. Always changed oil and one replacement air filter and that’s it. Planning to purchase the 2200 watt soon to power the AC. Regards, Keith
Keith, the micro-air works great. We actually had a power outage at our current state park and had no issues. We did pull out our generator because we didn’t notice the power was out for awhile. Our battery charge started to go down😂. I’m sure you will be happy with the soft start. Let us know if you have any questions Alice
Since we didn't travel this year, I plan on this modification for our main A/C of our Jayco with dual air units, both MACH-15's next spring. Since we didn't travel we spent our time and money on house projects this summer! Very much looking forward to some RV travel again next summer. A great video and well explained too!
Joseph, sorry you weren’t able to travel. You will definitely like this addition. Everyone that has one has written they work great. If you have any questions when you do the install, feel free to reach out to us. Larry does try to be thorough but there’s always something he has to leave out so the video isnt too long. Alice
Love the video. The follow up diagrams showing the wiring connections corrected my line fault issue after my first EasyStart installation. Thank you so much for the valuable video presentation, greatly appreciated!
Hi Larry, long detail videos are extremely important to help beginners who are new in the RV/motorhome lifestyle. Long videos also make a great learning/visual aid in each of the project topics covered. This shows your audience that you care about your projects because quality comes 1st. Even experienced professionals can learn from your videos to make improvements at work. I love the long videos from your projects. Dan
I had known that a soft start mod to the A/C was going to be on my list. Thanks for the video with proof it works, and the little peak at the solar system used to run your rig off grid.
Thanks for the video Larry! You made my installation a success on the first try… same A/C model and MicroAir model. PERFECT! And thanks for the warranty link. Much appreciated!
Thanks for the compliment, I am still trying to figure out how to make videos like this, include all the pertinent info without making it too long. Larry
Thanks for the video Larry. It sold me on the micro air. You made it look so easy to install. The promo code still works too! Hope your feeling better!
Glad the code still works. We are so glad we installed it and we’re planning on installing another - hopefully soon. Thanks for helping our channel stay afloat 🤗
Thanks. We have been meaning to get a Soft Start and put on our main Ac - and do a comparison. But Larrys recent health crisis has us behind schedule. Hopefully, we will do it soon 🤗
Thank you. Larry tries his best to include as much as possible but be concise. Micro - Air actually used our video in a Tampa RV show booth. They didn’t tell us - we just happen to see it 😁
Wow! What a very cool idea! Does the Softstart UP remove the need for a separate surge protector? We installed a hard wired one because we also occasionally run the AC through our inverter. By the way for those who feel comfortable climbing up on the roof, a hard wired one is less expensive and pretty straightforward to install. There are tons of excellent videos online (including on this channel) that can walk you through the process.
Thank you for the in-depth instruction video. We're excited about the possibilities for this EasyStart device and successfully running our AC on a smaller generator. Out here in the West, we need that functionality all the time. :-)
Great Video Tutorial! This is the best Easy Start installation video I have found on TH-cam. Thank you for the clear, easy-to-follow instructions including the wiring steps and associated diagrams and labelling. I am installing mine tomorrow! Thx again. I have subscribed to your channel.
Awesome. We appreciate the sub. Larry tries his best to be thorough, but concise. Our video was actually featured at the Microair booth at the Tampa RV Show 🤗
Great video! I am getting one this year. One thing I want to emphasize is the quality of the materials used! Notice that the electrical tape used was 3M. Do not use cheap or no name tape. And the mounting tape... Also 3M but heavy duty. I run the signal system for the Midwest Electric Railway in Mt. Pleasant Iowa and we use nothing but 3M products. They last!
Paul, thanks. Larry always uses 3M. It’s good to hear from someone who knows. Larry says it was easier than he thought to put in. It saved us camped in the Everglades with no power and mid 80s Alice
Really like and enjoy your videos. They are technically oriented and very well explain. Great job, thank you, you are helping us who travels the same roads !
Always love hearing that we have helped other travelers. This type of video is Larrys favorite. Unfortunately, since Larry was diagnosed with a rare Neuro disorder, he has to slow down a bit. We have so many videos to make.
the camera I had on the close up froze while filming. Hero 7 sucks sometimes. Use any conductor with an insulated handle to touch the two posts coming off the capacitor. I usualy just use a screwdriver or insulated pliers. larry
Larry said if he didn’t film it, it would have taken 10 minutes 😉 We have used it when we are on 30 amp and dry camping. We plan on putting one on our second AC Alice
@@DownsizingMakesCents thanks. I am also pondering an alternate source of heat after the Texas freeze we had last month. We are currently replacing all my hot water pipes that froze in the outbuilding. We had rolling blackouts and it was then I wished I had solar or a generator.
Lee, we are about to test a new “plug and play” version from Softstart - goes between pedestal/generator and RV. We will put it to the test and let everyone know what we think. Alice
Larry, great video; very helpful especially since I also have a mach 15 a/c unit. I used screen shots that you provided throughout to install my easy start yesterday. Thanks. bg
Awesome, I am so glad the video was helpful. When researching the video, I couldn’t find all the good information in one place. We love our easy start, i know you will too. Larry.
One of the best video's I ever watch. I was going to hire someone to install my Easy Start when it comes in but now because of you I think I can do this on my own. I have a Coleman Mach air conditioner, but with no number on the end like the ones there showing Mach 1,3, 8 and so on. Mine has no number and don't know what directions do I use,. Thank you for any help you can give me,. Thank You Mike
Hey Mike, when you open up the cover, you should be able to read the exact model off the AC. Most of the Machs are the same unless they are a heat pump. Take the cover off, look at the model number, look at the wires to see if they match the video, if they do, it should be easy. If something looks weird, take some photos and send them to me. Use the email address on our youtube about page. I dont want to put it in the comments. Good luck, Larry
Larry loves making this type of video. It was actually playing at the Micro-Air booth at the Tampa RV show We hope he recovers soon so we can go back to making these videos 🤗
I just bought 2 of these for my Puma Palomino 32RBFQ and I am pretty sure they are the same Ac units that you have so installation should be a breeze, I am running on a 30amp site so I am hoping to be able to run both of my units
I think you should be able to run both with easy starts on 30, as long as you don’t have a bunch of other stuff drawing power. Good luck with the install. Larry
Awesome instruction. At the end of the video, you mentioned you did not want to make a 30 minute DIY video. Unfortunately, when you have to properly convey (or teach) a lot of semi-complex information additional time is warranted and really makes the difference between a quick (just the basics) and a great comprehensive video. I have a question: 1- What is the difference between the Easy Start and the Soft Start? I have never heard of Easy Start (until this video), but Soft Start is everywhere.
Michael, you are so right. It’s a fine line between being informational and over explaining. Larry said he never heard of Soft Start until a couple of weeks ago. Larry did a ton of research on Microair before we spent money on it. But he says they pretty much do the same thing. Great question. And thanks for watching and commenting, Alice
Another great video! I just ordered 2 units using the discount code, which saved me $50! I live in Florida, and have only 2 A/Cs on my fifth wheel, so they are running constantly. I have to turn one off when I use the microwave, but after installing the Easy Start, I shouldn't have to. Thanks again!
Awesome let us know how the install goes. I don’t know how we got along without this installed on our AC. Being able to run the AC on our small generator is when we are dry camping and it get unexpectedly hot. Larry
@@DownsizingMakesCents my older Coleman Mach A/C has a pressure switch and relay, and they shows those installation instructions on page 22. Basically the only difference is you need to disconnect the black compressor wire from the pressure switch relay, add a new black wire to that relay connection, and then make a 3-way splice with the black Easy Start wire, the compressor wire, and the new relay wire. Due to the additional wires from the pressure switch, I had to drill a new hole to route the Easy Start wires, because there wasn't any room left in the existing hole. I ended up ordering the installation kit which includes the plastic ring to protect the wires after drilling the new hole, plus the additional wires and connectors to fabricate the 3-way splice. The only location the Easy Start would fit in my A/C was laying flat under the fan motor. One last unexpected item, the A/C cover mounting screws were torx. I ended up making several additional trips up and down my ladder, but thanks to your tip using zip ties, I had no issues other than sore knees the next day.
@@mattsmith3305 sounds like you had an interesting installation, I wonder why they used torx screws on the unit? Take care of the knees mine are always giving me trouble, lol. Larry
I have a question. Today, I added the MicroAir Easy start to my Coleman Mach AC unit on a 27' Fleetwood tongue trailer. Presto, it worked and ran off of my Bluetti AC200Max solar generator. Pulled about 1500 watts... I'm delighted. However I have a question. Today the ambient temps were up to only 41 degrees outside. I first ran heat in the trailer (not with the AC unit, but auxiliary heat), in order to get it up to 86 degrees inside the trailer before entering the 5 learning cycles. Having completed the learning cycles, I switched from shore power to the Bluetti. It worked. But will it work when summer comes, and it really is hot outside?
Yes it should work great when the summer hits. The ac may draw more than 1500 watts when under strain in high heat but your Bluetooth should handle it. Larry
@@DownsizingMakesCents ok. I think you meant “Bluetti” not “Bluetooth.” LoL. Also, I wish I had bought the Bluetooth easy start. But I saved $40 by getting the old version. Thanks again.
I had mentioned to you earlier that we have an older 5th wheel (2007) that some day we will upgrade. So I'm not adding any solar to it unless it's a small fold out type. So, will your 2000 watt generator run 1 A/C unit without your inverter helping? Ours is only 1 A/C @ 13.5 btu's. Your graph indicated that it's very close. I would much rather carry a 47 lb genny vs. 110 lb+. Good video and well done, thank you.
Lane, yes. With the microair installed, he gene can run the AC as long as there isn’t anything else using power at the time. We now have a 2200 watt gen that gives us more power. And I get not wanting to spend the money on solar when you are planning on changing your RV. One of the reasons we aren’t downsizing for a bit, Alice
Larry said it was much easier than he thought. Of course it took him longer because he had to film and explain 😂 Good luck. Let us know how it goes, Alice
@@DownsizingMakesCents , I had my son and his classmate help me install it this weekend. They did great and it works like a charm! I would post a pic, but TH-cam doesn’t allow me to do that.
I preferred to use the crimp connectors as that is what they installed at the factory, also there is significant vibration in the air conditioner that could cause failure or possible arching in the wago connectors. Great job doing two in an hour, much faster than me. Larry
Not sure if you showed the hard start kit a second time after install. As the first attempt would of charged the capacitor for the second attempt and onwards.
I always discharge the capacitors after I disconnect the power, before I handle them. I have never been zapped but i dont want to be. Your point is well taken though, It would be best to discharge the capacitor between tests. Larry
Damn dude you really killed it in this video. Very well done and explained. I am very impressed by this video. If you make it easy enough that I can do it then you have done a great job. lol. Very well done buddy. Man we spoil these women of ours. They have it so lucky.
Thx William, this video was great practice at doing DIY videos, I really struggle to keep them short. I always have to cut out 80 percent if what I shot. I appreciate your feedback while making this video. Lar
Great video. I installed on my Solitude 310 as well. I do have a question about the generator. I have a 120v 30 amp inverter generator, but I am only able to run the back ac. It will not run the front ac unit. I know it is because the generator will only push power to one leg which I believe is powering have the panel. We’re you able to overcome this and able to run your front AC.
We can run both ACs on our 2200 W generator but that is because we use the inverter and lithium batteries to make up the difference of power that is needed, we start up the AC that does not have a Microair first then we turn on the AC that does have the Microair second. I would think you could run both on a 30 amp generator like yours. Larry
Great video Larry. Btw, they have a better discount on their website right now, save $35, I just ordered mine. Now if I could just see that solar install video. So many things to get done by the end of March. Thanks guys.
😂🤣 It’s probably a Black Friday. But our code is good for longer 😉 Larry says these videos are to practice for the solar video. I swear, it’s coming. Alice
Thank you for this excellent video :) .. I'm surprised to see the evaporator core air box uninsulated from the hot outside weather (and the condenser hot air , depending on what way it blows) .. my thoughts would be that I would be applying some insulation to it as well :)
With all the vibration in the Rv and the amount of amps going through those connections, it’s better to use a crimp style connector, and they are cheaper. Wago style would probably work though. Larry
I think it is better to do the learn process while connected to a 30 or 50 amp shore power. I think you can do it with a generator but better with shore power. Larry
Thanks. It was so good, Micro-Air was playing it at their booth at the Tampa RV Show. We were so surprised when we walked by 😃 Once Larry is better, he will back at it making these detailed vids 🤗
Thanks. Glad we could help. Let us know if you have any questions. And please share our video with someone that might benefit- it really helps our channel. Thanks again, Alice
Great video! I have a mach 3 also. I have seen other videos that are promoting the the same info and success. I understand start up issues have been solved with the easy start. My question to you is how long will that gen of yours work at a constant if the temps are in the 90's or so. Will that 2200i shut down over a longer period of time while running the a/c with such a high demand? I'm debating on buying the Honda 2200i or the harbor freight predator 3500 generator. I'm curious about your thoughts. thanks
another cool episode I have to try this in my new 2020 Laredo fifth wheel. have you done a video on your solar system. hope to see you on the road save travels
I haven’t installed the ES yet. Do you see any issues on using my generator for the learning process. I don’t have power available where my rig is parked. Should I install and wait until I can hook up shore power. Thanks
I think you should still be able to use your generator for the learning process, I would just make sure you do not have the generator on any kind of eco-mode when you do the learning process have it running at full steam. Larry
That’s a great question, with our four. Batteries, 400ah. With completely full batteries to start, The ac can run for a few hours but if the compressor is on all the time only a couple of hours, generally at night we don’t keep it too low just low enough to be able to sleep. That way it cycles on and off all night saving power. I would say if you want the run the ac all night, 6 batteries would be the minimum. Larry
Kind of side question about your "tiltable" solar brackets. GENIUS!! Where did you find those? Do you possibly have a link? Excellent video!! Also, do you have both a/c's wired with this adapter? Or is that even recommended? Thanks
Ed, you have to have a separate unit for each air conditioner. We only did the bedroom one since we use that the most. Tiltable brackets came from AMsolar.com. Hope this helps, Lar
Thanks, for the video, Larry. We never camp without an electrical hookup (so far). Is there any advantage to be gained by installing one of these Easy Start 364's when you always have shore power?
Yes the ac runs fine on our 3000w inverter, it should also work on a 2800. As long as you have an easy start or something similar. 13 amps running x 120 volts is about 1600 watts. Larry
Awesome. You will love it. We plan on putting another one on our other AC. Unfortunately, Larry has been very ill so new videos like this one might be awhile. But check out our other videos until then hug 🤗
So does it end up using the same amount of watts. Does it make it runs longer on battery power? Or would it be the same if my inverter already starts my AC will my batteries last the same or longer
It does not change the amount of watts it used runnnig, If your inverter starts the AC, then you probably do not need an easy start. The batteries will last the same either way. Larry
Thanks for this - new subscriber now. 👍🏻 Trying to figure out whether one or two needed for two ACs. I’m thinking one as running only one off grid for relatively short periods seems reasonable. Then, if on 30 amp service, startup the power hog first then once running fire up the easy start AC. Am I thinking about that correctly? Thx
Epilogue: installed the EasyStart on our 13.5 bedroom Mach 3 today. It’s working like a charm. The sound of the unit is noticeably quieter! I just followed your instructions as I went and all is well.I carry Wago connectors which make life even easier than messing with crimps. The Mach 15 with heat pump has a lot more guts and electrical do-dads going on in the AC unit so I put that install on hold. Having one EasyStart should keep us from roasting like last year at Ft Robinson State Park in NW Nebraska when the temp hit 102 and the trees that showed around our site in Google Earth had been cut down by the time we went there so full sun and 30 amp service, OY!!
Good eye. We were at TTO while filming. Larry says it’s a pretty easy install. We plan on getting a second one - Soft start - and maybe do a comparison Alice
@@DownsizingMakesCents I just installed this on my friends' RV for them so that's how I found the video. They have the same A/C units on their Grand Design. I've already installed three Easy Start units on my motor coach...love them. Safe travels and thanks for the educational video.
This is a great video. I purchased 3 of the micro-air's. I never even looked at the instructions, yours are so much more thorough.
Thanks for subbing too 🤗

Wow. Thank you. Larry loves to do DIYs. And he tries to make it look easy
best install video I have ever seen on the Micro Easy Start.... Keep up the good work brother... simply amazing...!!!!!!
Michael, thank you so much. We really appreciate the positive words.
Alice
Thanks for the walk-through Larry! I already planned to do this before spring on the two Mach 10 units on our new rig, as our generator is 2800W continuous/3100W peak. You've shown just how easy that project will be - thanks for such a well-done video!
Marc, the timing of this video was a bit off- just before winter 😅 but we wanted to show what a difference it really makes.
We’ve only done one air so far- the one we use the most. We might do the other.
Thank you so much for watching and your positive thoughts,
Alice
What a great, informative and safety oriented vid - 20 minutes time well spent for any RV owner. Don't be humble Larry, you are an excellent DIY trainer/teacher. Well Done !
You guys are the best. Thank you so much for the compliments. We always love hearing from you.
Stay warm.
Alice
THANK YOU - I used your well detailed video after I hooked everything up as a confirmation before powering anything. You confirmed that I did NOT have to remove any other wires. Great Video. Thank you Again.
Thanks for the compliments, i made this video because i wanted to see the details when i did it. Larry
Thanks for the detailed video. I installed mine today and it worked perfectly. Didn't even need to look at the manufacturers directions. Thank you so much.
David, that’s great. That’s the best feedback I can get. Thanks
@@DownsizingMakesCents can't wait to go boondocking. Thank you.
I should have told you... we installed micro air units years ago!! Yes a must have!
Chris, I am not surprised. Maybe we should ask you what DIY should be next on our list 😂.
We are loving it.
Alice
This is a much better video than the manufacturer. Thanks, it really helped. They should have paid you for this.
Thank you for the huge compliment, I watched their video while prepping for this video, I wanted to give more detail. Larry
Thank you so much! This was the best video for installing the Easy Start I have found. You made the installation straight forward and mush simpler than the PDF or video from Micro Air.
Matthew, we really appreciate hearing this.
Because their instructions were not as thorough, that’s why Larry made one.
Maybe they should put our video on their website 😉
Alice
Hands down… best installation video. Thank you. We will be ordering soon. Happy travels and stay safe.
Daniel, thank you. That’s what Larry aims for. He wants all the information needed in one video, but couldn’t find it. So he made his own.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. If you know anyone that might benefit from our video, please share. It helps TH-cam see us 🤗
Alice
Great instructional video. Nice work. Total install time for a beginner was 53 minutes from start to finish.
Good luck and I hope our overview will help,
Alice
Let us know if you have any questions
Alice
Since we didn't travel this year, I plan on this modification for our main A/C of our Jayco with dual air units, both MACH-15's next spring. Since we didn't travel we spent our time and money on house projects this summer! Very much looking forward to some RV travel again next summer. A great video and well explained too!
Joseph, sorry you weren’t able to travel. You will definitely like this addition. Everyone that has one has written they work great.
If you have any questions when you do the install, feel free to reach out to us. Larry does try to be thorough but there’s always something he has to leave out so the video isnt too long.

Great video. We used this is as our source for installing our 2 micro aire easy starts and it was a breeze. Thank you for doing this video.!!!
That’s awesome. We intend to put one on our second AC once Larrys health crisis has passed
Great install video for the Micro Air Easy Start. Installed without any problems. Your video made it very easy. Thank You!!!!

Thanks Larry, I now have a very complete understanding how to install my East Start.
Bob, Larry had an uncle named Bob Grimm 😃
We are glad it was helpful- Larry tries to be thorough without making it too long,
Alice
Love the video. The follow up diagrams showing the wiring connections corrected my line fault issue after my first EasyStart installation. Thank you so much for the valuable video presentation, greatly appreciated!
Thanks very much for the compliments, sometimes my diy videos are too long but some viewers like the extra content that makes is long. Larry
If you read other comments, you will see lots of people love theirs. The solar series is coming.

Wow, your video was awesome. Your step-by-step video made it look so easy I’m new to RVing and I’m willing to try it out now
That’s what we like to hear.

Larry
BEST Easy Start install video!

Thanks for the video Larry. It sold me on the micro air. You made it look so easy to install. The promo code still works too! Hope your feeling better!
Glad the code still works. We are so glad we installed it and we’re planning on installing another - hopefully soon.

That was a great video on the install and not to long with a lot of unnecessary information. 🙂
We have used it successfully while dry camping. We hope to add one to our second AC once Larry recovers 🤗
It saved us camped in the Everglades with no power and mid 80s
Alice
this is what I'm looking for easy torture set up thanks

@@DownsizingMakesCents really sorry to hear that. Take good care ❤
Well done! This is the best video I've seen on the topic and I've watched at least a dozen of them. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Brian, I watched them all in prep for this video, I wanted to include all the best parts of them in one video. Larry
Can you post (or edit in) a close up of what you are touching with the tool while you short the capacitors...
the camera I had on the close up froze while filming. Hero 7 sucks sometimes. Use any conductor with an insulated handle to touch the two posts coming off the capacitor. I usualy just use a screwdriver or insulated pliers. larry
Great video and excellent instruction - thanks ! I will installing mine as soon as the weather get warmer...
Larry said if he didn’t film it, it would have taken 10 minutes 😉
We have used it when we are on 30 amp and dry camping. We plan on putting one on our second AC

Great video. I am looking at easy start for home air conditioner while on backup power.
That’s a great idea, they have models specifically for that purpose, I wish I I had one on my home ac during hurricane season, larry
@@DownsizingMakesCents thanks. I am also pondering an alternate source of heat after the Texas freeze we had last month. We are currently replacing all my hot water pipes that froze in the outbuilding. We had rolling blackouts and it was then I wished I had solar or a generator.
Just installed mine. Thanks for the video !
Lee, we are about to test a new “plug and play” version from Softstart - goes between pedestal/generator and RV.
We will put it to the test and let everyone know what we think.

Oh, that’s interesting, I’m guessing like a whole RV capacitor of sorts?
Larry, great video; very helpful especially since I also have a mach 15 a/c unit. I used screen shots that you provided throughout to install my easy start yesterday. Thanks. bg

Installed ours two years ago. Works great 👍. Great video
Great to hear it’s still working. Thanks.
Alice
Looked easy enough even I could do it
Ray, I’m glad he made it look easy. It was a lot easier than installing lithium and solar 😂
Alice
Great video. Didn't need the instructions. Thanks.
Larry loves making this type of video. It was actually playing at the Micro-Air booth at the Tampa RV show
We hope he recovers soon so we can go back to making these videos 🤗
I just bought 2 of these for my Puma Palomino 32RBFQ and I am pretty sure they are the same Ac units that you have so installation should be a breeze, I am running on a 30amp site so I am hoping to be able to run both of my units
I think you should be able to run both with easy starts on 30, as long as you don’t have a bunch of other stuff drawing power. Good luck with the install. Larry
@@DownsizingMakesCents Thank you
Awesome instruction.
At the end of the video, you mentioned you did not want to make a 30 minute DIY video. Unfortunately, when you have to properly convey (or teach) a lot of semi-complex information additional time is warranted and really makes the difference between a quick (just the basics) and a great comprehensive video.
I have a question:
1- What is the difference between the Easy Start and the Soft Start? I have never heard of Easy Start (until this video), but Soft Start is everywhere.
Michael, you are so right. It’s a fine line between being informational and over explaining.
Larry said he never heard of Soft Start until a couple of weeks ago. Larry did a ton of research on Microair before we spent money on it. But he says they pretty much do the same thing.
Great question. And thanks for watching and commenting,
Alice
Larry
Great video on the installation.
Robert, I’m glad you liked it. We hope anyone can do this now.

One of the reasons we aren’t downsizing for a bit,
Alice
Really appreciate this video. It is excellent. We just ordered our unit and I suspect this video is going to help us BIG TIME.

Even easier connection using WAGO connectors. Used them and installed and tested 2 microairs in under an hour.
I preferred to use the crimp connectors as that is what they installed at the factory, also there is significant vibration in the air conditioner that could cause failure or possible arching in the wago connectors. Great job doing two in an hour, much faster than me. Larry
Great video. Most thorough I have seen. The one thing I did not see is - what do I do with the 2 wires to the start capacitor?
Leave the fan start capacitor alone. You only need to work with the bigger run capacitor. I hope I understood your question correctly, Larry
Thanks for the excellent video! Short and sweet...
Daniel, we are glad it was helpful.

Love the safety tip to get items to the top. I'm now using the "string (rope for me) tip" for my ladder uses. Norma🙂
Norma, Larry actually has some good ideas every once and awhile.
Alice
Not sure if you showed the hard start kit a second time after install. As the first attempt would of charged the capacitor for the second attempt and onwards.
I always discharge the capacitors after I disconnect the power, before I handle them. I have never been zapped but i dont want to be. Your point is well taken though, It would be best to discharge the capacitor between tests. Larry
Wonderful detailed, love your graghic for more visuals❤

Larry
Interesting I have the same ac as you on my 2021 reflection and my Honda 2000 would run the ac I’ll have to test it
Our 2000 would stall starting the ac, but a 2200 may be able to do it. With the easy start, starts smooth as butter. Larry
Great video Larry. Btw, they have a better discount on their website right now, save $35, I just ordered mine. Now if I could just see that solar install video.

Thank you for this excellent video :) .. I'm surprised to see the evaporator core air box uninsulated from the hot outside weather (and the condenser hot air , depending on what way it blows) .. my thoughts would be that I would be applying some insulation to it as well :)
That’s some good thinking but like most things built for rvs, poorly engineered. I wonder if I could put some insulation on there. Larry
Why crimping style end splice connectors only? Why not Wagos?
With all the vibration in the Rv and the amount of amps going through those connections, it’s better to use a crimp style connector, and they are cheaper. Wago style would probably work though. Larry
Hello
The learn process was it done with the camper plugged into the Honda generator or 30/50 outlet ? Would it matter ?
I think it is better to do the learn process while connected to a 30 or 50 amp shore power. I think you can do it with a generator but better with shore power. Larry
Thanks for the reply and you great video

Great video! I have a mach 3 also. I have seen other videos that are promoting the the same info and success. I understand start up issues have been solved with the easy start. My question to you is how long will that gen of yours work at a constant if the temps are in the 90's or so. Will that 2200i shut down over a longer period of time while running the a/c with such a high demand? I'm debating on buying the Honda 2200i or the harbor freight predator 3500 generator. I'm curious about your thoughts. thanks

Larry
It's hard to blame truckers, they like to sleep with their a/c on too. Not all have APU's. lol. Great Video! Thank You!

I followed your video. It worked for me!!! Thanks Man!!!
Awesome. Glad it was easy to follow.
It’s helps us a lot if our videos are shared, too
Great information & video. How long can you run one A/C on batteries at night time? Thank you
That’s a great question, with our four.
Like having a friend show me how to do it. Same A/C. Perfect.

Thanks, for the video, Larry. We never camp without an electrical hookup (so far). Is there any advantage to be gained by installing one of these Easy Start 364's when you always have shore power?
Allan, only advantage is if you want to run two airs off 30 amp.
@@DownsizingMakesCents Thanks.

Yes the ac runs fine on our 3000w inverter, it should also work on a 2800. As long as you have an easy start or something similar. 13 amps running x 120 volts is about 1600 watts. Larry
Excellent review/instructions!
Joyce, thank you. Larry always tries to be thorough

Great video. Thank you for promo code. I just placed my order. Keep the video’s coming. Be safe.
Awesome. You will love it. We plan on putting another one on our other AC.
Unfortunately, Larry has been very ill so new videos like this one might be awhile.
But check out our other videos until then hug 🤗
Link below for the easy start 364 on Amazon is broken...
Keith, thanks for the heads up. We will work on it right now,
Alice
So does it end up using the same amount of watts. Does it make it runs longer on battery power? Or would it be the same if my inverter already starts my AC will my batteries last the same or longer
It does not change the amount of watts it used runnnig, If your inverter starts the AC, then you probably do not need an easy start. The batteries will last the same either way. Larry
Best install video
Johnny, wow. Thank you. Larry really tries to be thorough. 🙏

Thx
David, thanks for the sub.
Sounds like you got the right idea. We are fine with the one on our bedroom. We hardly run both acs

Thank you for the video. Did you have to run it on AC power for the five test starts?
David, yes. It’s important to do the first 5 test starts using shore power- not a generator,
Alice
@@DownsizingMakesCents Thank you
Nice video, thanks. It looks like you are at TTO. :)
Good eye. We were at TTO while filming.
Larry says it’s a pretty easy install.
We plan on getting a second one - Soft start - and maybe do a comparison

@@DownsizingMakesCents I just installed this on my friends' RV for them so that's how I found the video. They have the same A/C units on their Grand Design. I've already installed three Easy Start units on my motor coach...love them. Safe travels and thanks for the educational video.
