I heard that Diamondbacks insurance company had a hard limit of how many times the people they sponsor could say “lets build something sketchy” and Seth far exceeded that
I heard that it was because insurance companies don't like "doing something a little bit different" everyday as it messes with their risk assessments and models. They were begrudgingly accepting of these activities while they were "kind of the same" as previous activities, but seeing as these exact words haven't been uttered in a couple of videos lately, the insurance companies' contracts have been broken :). Edit: This is meant in jest of course.

The silver lining is that Diamondback has been going downhill the past few years, they've been raising prices so they're no longer the value they once were yet their frames all still have woefully outdated geometry. Seth will get to ride new frames that are actually up to date now
That's because they sold out to Raleigh. It was the Fall of 2017 when they began liquidating their inventory, when I purchased a Mission 2 at a rock-bottom price. Shortly thereafter, Raleigh Bicycles purchased Diamondback; over the next few years, their product line was revamped and prices increased to industry standards.
The price is why I will never buy another Diamondback. I only bought one for the price years ago. The frame geometry is great on the release. Outdated geometry is just a selling point to get you to buy a new bike. Seems only a new rider would pay the price for a release now.
@@Dempsey222 agreed i use to think diamonback had a good market carved out good reliable bikes for a good price for people not wanting to make a huge commitment but the price of them now are absurd. 5 plus for a release? no thanks. i have an intense tracer which costs about the same no way are they even in the same ballpark
I have been sticking to Diamondback bikes for a while now and Seth is the reason for that. After I watched a few of his videos I got sucked in and addicted to them. I noticed that he was riding Diamondback bikes mainly and they looked like really good bikes. I got one and have been running them ever since then. wow, I didn't see this coming. while it'll be cool to see seth riding other frames, it would be even cooler to see him still on dome of his older diamondback bikes, since they are really good bikes and I couldn't see seth's garage without one diamond back
I could not echo these comments enough- i’m quite excited to see the direction he takes next, there are so many great bike manufactures and it would be nice to see him select one (or many) without being bias! 🎉 A great video idea is the process you would go through when selecting a new (or used) bike and the critical things to look out for based on your specific application of riding! Too many bikes claim they’re good at doing everything, in reality you don’t need it to do everything.
Great move for Seth and Diamondback. Diamondback has been leaning back towards their big box store roots for years now.. haven’t seen a groundbreaking frame/mtb design from them in years. It’ll be nice to see him ride with a brand that has more passion for the industry.

I am purchasing a diamondback next year specifically because you ride diamondback and I would think it’s safe to say there are many other people who bought Diamondbacks because you ride them. You probably have become the best diamondback salesman.
@Scott Murray Our experience was just the opposite. My son broke a swingarm bracket, DB had a new upgraded bike here in a week and told us to keep the old bike for parts. This was five or six years ago...so maybe they've changed.
That's a bummer. Prior to your sponsorship deal I thought all Diamondback bikes were the very Meh kind you used to find at Kmart and Dick's sporting goods. I had a friend that had a really cheap Diamondback years ago and I wasn't really impressed. I never knew they even made decent to good bikes until I saw them on your channel.
I had no idea what Diamonback was until I saw Seth working on his Release and Sync'r. They're a true community brand. I hope they meet the goals they aspire to reach.
This video exemplifies why this channel is so successful. Open honest professional and humble content. Looking forward to your next adventure. And thanks Diamondback for taking a chance on Seth all those years ago and allowing millions of people to benefit from the content.
Not sure why the sponsorship had to end . I can’t imagine anyone being a better representative for the company than you Seth. I’m sure another bike company will pick you up.
I am going to go out a limb and say with the presence Seth has, getting picked up by another bike company may not be in his best interests. Having editorial freedom may trump the other perks of sponsorship.
@@BenKickert If you've been watching since the SBH days I think it's safe to say DB never hassled him about "editorial freedom". Seth's done what he's wanted and I don't recall him ever saying DB was dialing him back. This seems like a HUGE loss for Diamondback. I'm sure some of the best bike brands out there would probably do anything to have their flagship models proudly displayed on Seth's channels. Looking forward to see what new killer bikes will be ridden in Berm Peak in the future!
Yeah, DB is probably not happy about this at all. This is for sure Seth reevaluating his worth at the end of a contract and basically opening himself up to either be independent or signing on with another brand that is willing to pay and/or do more. Diamondback has been behind Seth for years and as he stated just sunk a bunch of money very recently into a trail they funded on property he owns. Seems like a shitbag thing to do to in such a short time.

An absolute gentleman. Besides the killer content, it's how much of a SOLID DUDE you are that keeps me coming back. I can't wait to see what's in store next!
I often forget that Diamondback still make decent bikes overseas, because here in Australia they are rubbish. They are cheap crap sold in department stores. By cheap crap, i mean they only do 1 frame size, running 3x6 gearing (shimano's cheapest derailleur but cheap crappy twist grip shifters) and the cheapest, all steel front suspension you can find. I think some of their bikes even still have steel rims.
Wow that sucks. I've been riding my Mission 2 on some of the gnarliest terrain ever for three years and it's still holding up. It's definitely different overseas.
No matter what the reason for this, Seth's videos influence my buying decisions and I can't wait to see who snatches him up! Hopefully this paves the way for some new opportunities and content for us all. I love the tips and insight I get from the videos.
How is it heartbreaking? It's a business relationship and changes happen. Riders change sponsors all the time as well so it is sort of par for the course. I am sure there are a lot of bike companies out there wanting to work with seth just due to the large amount of subs and viewers he gets so he will be fine.
@@testrella04 DB is by no means a smaller boutique brand. They are just one of the many brands that fell off because they thought their name alone would keep them in business.

i know 3 people who got into mountain biking because of you and all bought diamondbacks because of you, you made your mark out there go get em
I’ve been watching my your channel for almost 7 years now and it’s cool and a little bit sad to see your sponsors come and go. I’m really glad that Diamondback was able to sponsors Berm Park before your closures.
Thank you Seth. And just like that DB sales dropped 30% in the second quarter of 2022. Now moving on, what amazing new bikes are you going to make us want in the future? I have always had treks, but man that black release was epic!
DB isn't available where I live, and I've never seen one in the flesh. I've respected and loved the brand because of you though, Seth - you're the best ambassador a brand could want.
FIY! YOU are the reason i bought a Diamondback line for my first non-bigbox bike and i couldn't be happier!
This channel is a direct reason I bought my first hardtail and first full suspension from diamondback. Saw them here and loved the look and reliability.
This obviously isn't good news, but I'm actually pretty proud about the way you're dealing with this, Seth. Thank you for everything you've done for the bike community. And thank you to Diamondback for being part of this.
Dude, your a true professional, way to exit with grace 👏
We love you, Seth! Always honest and transparent. Sending you all the best!
hey seth you got me into this amazing sport and so i cant weight to see where you going next and would live to see you on other frames and rigs i only hope the best for you
The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. They have greatly increased the life-expectancy of those of us who live in “advanced” countries, but they have destabilized society, have made life unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological suffering (in the Third World to physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the natural world. The continued development of technology will worsen the situation. It will certainly subject human being to greater indignities and inflict greater damage on the natural world, it will probably lead to greater social disruption and psychological suffering, and it may lead to increased physical suffering even in “advanced” countries. The industrial-technological system may survive or it may break down. If it survives, it MAY eventually achieve a low level of physical and psychological suffering, but only after passing through a long and very painful period of adjustment and only at the cost of permanently reducing human beings and many other living organisms to engineered products and mere cogs in the social machine.

I bought a Diamondback bike because of your channel. Thank you Seth!
aww, it was good whilst it lasted. wish you well with a new sponsor.
Sorry to hear this...it was so refreshing to see DB get back into the game of serious biking and bike making after decades of disappointing us.
Aren’t mountain bikes meant to go downhill?
@@jeremyhopwood I wish I could react to this with a laughing emoji and not just a like, as it is on Facebook. Clever.
Sorry to hear about your guys separation but I wanted people to know that I think Seth did a great job marketing Diamondback and incorporating it into his channel. Seth, I hope that you now have the freedom to try many other different bikes and make new connections with other companies as well. You have inspired me to fix my own bikes and teach other people how as well.
wow, I didn't see this coming. while it'll be cool to see seth riding other frames, it would be even cooler to see him still on dome of his older diamondback bikes, since they are really good bikes and I couldn't see seth's garage without one diamond back
Thanks for being a stand up guy, Seth. Your need to be circumspect has piqued my curiosity.
I could not echo these comments enough- i’m quite excited to see the direction he takes next, there are so many great bike manufactures and it would be nice to see him select one (or many) without being bias! 🎉
A great video idea is the process you would go through when selecting a new (or used) bike and the critical things to look out for based on your specific application of riding!
I don't think dimondback as a whole is American anyways. Other than, there high-end non department store stuff is Chinaese owned is it not. Wouldn't be surprised if the parant company took over everything and don't want to pay riders and social media guys. I wonder if Porter will be dropped before long.
This fellow Seth has high standards. It may be a simple situation where their standards do NOT align. And he's too classy to mention it...
A+ attitude -
Seth: next I am announcing a new partnership with the most venerable bike company, HUFFY
You got me into MTB!!! and taught me so much about maintaining and educating my self on safe and fun riding. Keep doing your thing and I wish you good luck with your next sponsorship, I’ll be watching the whole way through !!
Hi Seth, I've been watching your videos specially more than a year and the flip bike series i luv it. It is sad that DB bikes are no more 😢. Maybe there's more coming sponsoring to you Seth. 😊 Anyway looking forward for your new videos. Have a great day.

This is my favorite channel on TH-cam. This video show me you’re not just a great content an editor, but you’re also a great leader. You’ve handled yourself well my friend.
I am purchasing a diamondback next year specifically because you ride diamondback and I would think it’s safe to say there are many other people who bought Diamondbacks because you ride them. You probably have become the best diamondback salesman.
Literally just bought one 2 weeks ago because of this channel .
@Scott Murray good to know, i think I’ll do some more research on some more hard tails before I make my final purchase
@Scott Murray Our experience was just the opposite. My son broke a swingarm bracket, DB had a new upgraded bike here in a week and told us to keep the old bike for parts. This was five or six years ago...so maybe they've changed.
Alright, now you can get a Santa Cruz. End of an era but excited to see your new whip
Respect for how you handled it and I'm glad it was a good clean split. Love to both you and Diamond Back. Keep riding.
Reading between the lines I'd say Diamondback is struggling financially.
@@BenKickert If you've been watching since the SBH days I think it's safe to say DB never hassled him about "editorial freedom". Seth's done what he's wanted and I don't recall him ever saying DB was dialing him back. Mind you, his fleet could be sufficient to carry him through for awhile so he doesn't have to be in a rush to find a bicycle parter.
My first bike was a dB mission, and this channel helped me make the jump. It feels like the end of an era, but it was a great era
Sponsors about to be blowing up Seth's inbox.
You're a class act Seth fr. Wishing you nothing but more success in the future. Keep doing you!
@@DontMakeMeCallBovice not when he makes statements like "if it was up to me they'd still be a part of this channel."
@@RedWingsninetyone I wouldn’t be surprised if this is because Diamondback is going out of business and has to drop all or most of their sponsors
@@jakefeeman4019 not likely. More likely this is their parent company making a budget decision with inflation as high as it is.
@@jakefeeman4019 can’t keep giving bikes away for free to a TH-cam channel. Budgeting for stores and prioritizing racers/sponsored athletes. Seth was at the bottom
Feels like forever that he’s been with DB. Interesting to see if other brands reach out to him or if he partners up with another brand. Cheers seth and DB for all of the content
It's sad that your no longer sponsored by diamondback but on the bright side I think it opens new opportunities best of luck to you seth! Cheer up and ride on😁
there will be another friend that will pick us up whenever someone dropped us down, wishing you seth with a new opportunity for the future and for as diamondback, thank you for the support
This would be a great time for an up and coming brand to get their product showcased!
I’m thinking Nukeproof
i bought a diamondback release 3 because of this channel. hope the partnership was great for both parties
Seth is going to be getting a lot of emails today from bike company marketing managers. I guarantee it.
Edit: I bet he is going to take his time and pick a practical brand that offers a good value for the people that are his core audience. No forbidden or Santa Cruz.
Which was most of the point of the video.
do you not think he hasn't had another deal inked for months?
Pure class Seth. Not always fun or easy to do the right thing but it matters. As always thanks!
Is Eric Porter being cut too?
An absolute gentleman. Besides the killer content, it's how much of a SOLID DUDE you are that keeps me coming back. I can't wait to see what's in store next!
I often forget that Diamondback still make decent bikes overseas, because here in Australia they are rubbish. They are cheap crap sold in department stores. By cheap crap, i mean they only do 1 frame size, running 3x6 gearing (shimano's cheapest derailleur but cheap crappy twist grip shifters) and the cheapest, all steel front suspension you can find. I think some of their bikes even still have steel rims.
Same
Wow that sucks.
I love the tips and insight I get from the videos.
man this is heartbreaking
looking forward to the next chapter though
just wondering, how about the Porters ?
Wondering that, too. I hope Eric and Seth are still able to collaborate on content, regardless of the sponsorship arrangements!
How is it heartbreaking? It's a business relationship and changes happen. Riders change sponsors all the time as well so it is sort of par for the course. I am sure there are a lot of bike companies out there wanting to work with seth just due to the large amount of subs and viewers he gets so he will be fine.
It is because of this channel that I have my DB. Great bike - and you proved it true!
I was actually surprised Seth stayed with them this long... but I guess if a company goes out on a limb you have to show them some respect.
I mean the berm park funding was also a plus not sure many other smaller boutique brands have the funds and corporate backing
@@testrella04 DB is by no means a smaller boutique brand. They are just one of the many brands that fell off because they thought their name alone would keep them in business.
That's a classy way to fish for a new sponsor. Well done Seth, you are a PR dream!
I see this as an absolute win.
I bought my first mountain bike “A diamondback hook” back in 2017 because of a video you made on beginner bikes, great salesman.
How about experimenting with making your drivetrain a 3 by with exactly identical chainrings, it could solve alignment, durability and keeps the gear range and ratios the same
weight, cost, complexity - silly idea in my opinion
Diamondback helped create many memories, and I'm happy it ended like this. Thanks Seth.
The DB name has been ruined here in Australia due to department stores selling sub standard bikes with their name on them.
Thats what diamondback is known for. It is a good thing that Seth is separating himself from them.
Same in the UK. 25 years of garbage bikes won't be forgotten in a hurry. Saracen have done well though, given they were in the same category a decade ago.
Seth, cant wait to see what the future holds for you. Perfect parting ways video. You are a super talented guy, I am sure this wont slow you down at all.
