- Sad to say that you can't trust anyone these days and it looks like we got ripped off.. Thanks for watching our van life vlog everyone:)… The van build is done and the paperwork has been sent off but unfortunately the company that fitted our awning and windows have done a really bad job causing damage and frustration.. What should we do??

Those installments are unfortunate. I live in Spain as well (Tenerife, permanently for 10 years), we use local Germans to do work like this, a bit more expensive, but perfect, and I know there are some skilled Ukrainians on mainland Spain that do great jobs on cars/vans. Sorry my Spanish/Canario folks, cars and vans are not your thing.
Maybe tape some colored/designed craft paper on the inside of your cupboard door so you see it through the hole before committing to it. And yes, a turquoise or maybe patterns kinda like your pillows for your curtain. That should do well for getting Nick some color in there. Still Love Vinster~

Can't help feeling there's not enough windows, especially on the driver's side. Feels claustrophobic. ..
Don't understand how the table doesn't interfere with the bed set up...
Make sure to leave a review for that person accordingly. If more people left true reviews instead of fake ones people who are scammers would be out of business a lot faster. He's responsible for the work his friend did and should make good on the errors and fix them until you are happy.
Ask for the complain book and if they refuse call police spainish law is on your side. Hojas de reclamaciones

@@theexPAWersSpotting fake reviews is a hobby of mine, I look for the over use of same words (saw one co whose reviews all had ‘amazing’ in them) same spelling errors, same grammatical errors, reviewers names all being very samey (like john1234 and dave567 and steve8900 etc) and many other similarities and matches that look like the same person is writing them all. Some are good at trying to hide, but I spot things that make me suspicious.

Hi guys, Velton is looking very homely now. My suggestion for adding a splash of colour to your cupboards is to use the blue fabric on the inside of your cupboard doors. That way you would add lots of pretty blue circles plus keep bugs out of you cupboards 🙂

Your challenge with colours is that you've used royal blue carpet everywhere which doesn't go with much. It's not a colour you'd use in your house for carpets or wall paint (it's a great t-shirt colour). Using the softer blues like the ones in the tiles in the kitchen are great. So simple answer is to switch out the royal blue carpet for a nicer colour 🤣

Not finished watching yet but………. Is there a serial number on the awning? If so, you could ask Dometic to verify to whom it was sold and that would give you confirmation of it being new or 2nd hand. All my work is done by Hispavan while I’m in Spain and they are excellent. They’re in Antas.
Doesn’t happen like that. As an ex employee of only 1 of 2 fiamma importers in the UK serial numbers are shipped worldwide. Only thing a SN will tell you is date of manufacture and model. Domestic and Thule are exactly the same. They’ll only be able to tell you when it was made and that won’t tell you much if it’s been sitting in a warehouse for a period of time.
Always check the work before you leave , lesson learnt

I know, very frustrating indeed and it’s definitely looking very much like the guy has lied to us and Ripped us off with a second hand awning.. We’re not going to let this get us down..
@@theexPAWers Yeah, you trust someone and they cheat you. Frustrating and sad. I got a Nissan Rogue so I could just do little one-night camps with me and my dog. I am 73 and have 2 cats, so I only want one night at a time in the nearby mountains. You guys inspired me to do it!
It makes me sad that these guys want to cheat a little old lady, for God's sake! But I have my little car back. It feels like they burst my balloon.
So let's keep a stiff upper lip, as you say in the UK! In my beautiful New Mexico, we say something in Spanish that I really can't put in here.
Don't paint cupboard put some fabric behind so there is color patterns in the holes and stuff won't slide out snd won't be able to see in to them just a idea
Hi to you! 💗My vote is to keep the cupboard doors white for now. If they wear badly and show too much dirt you can clean them up and paint them then. You had some blankets hanging as a temp cover-up for that cabinet, so when you decide on a color it may become more clear what to do. Too many patterns and colors look too hodge-podge, but that's just me. Ha-ha! Love you guys!💖
Ahhh how gutting , after seeing the window install I’m inclined to change my original opinion that the awning was a mistakenly sent out return, to now more likely your installer pulling a fast one charging you for a new one and installing a ‘second’. But hard to prove unfortunately. Its a bit of bad luck, but I suppose your still way ahead in good luck with getting gifted Velton is the way to try and look at it. That chair is/will be superb and a major plus to the build and works because of the unique way you decided to have the back not the bed area, really like that feature 💕. The question whether to add colour to the cupboard doors or not I’d leave until you’ve lived in it a bit with all the soft furnishings and ‘stuff’ and decide later. Its really come together and you should be proud of what you have achieved guys 👍🏻👍🏻
Such a pain. There really dose seem to be a lack of skilled people nowadays. And a abundance of people who are over confident in there abilities and willing to have a go 😢
Leave the doors white for now. Live in the van for a bit and then decide. Can't wait for your travels to begin 😁

I agree with the person who suggested putting turquoise fabric liners inside the cupboard doors for a splash of colour.
Bummer they stuffed up the awning ... name and shame .... bit of blue behind those holes would look great against the white i think .. funky van .... BOTH DID A GREAT JOB .
I like the cabinets the way they are. I think it makes it feel more airy and bright.
Definitely turquoise to keep the theme going.

If it was my van I would replace the blankets on the toilet with light weight doors with holes like the top units and attach some blue/turquoise material behind it. I would also do that on the top cub boards to hide the contents.

Watching this vlog on TV and can't believe the shabby workmanship after all of your hard work. Because they finished the job earlier than expected you mentioned that last week aswell I'm thinking Jack of all trades master of none has been called in to help him out 😡 if he fixes the brackets then that shows he's willing I would then drive back up there and show him the windows. If you get no joy definitely name drop 🤕 my wife is sat here shouting at the TV ... Name drop name drop name drop !! Joking aside fingers crossed all will end well

Yeah it’s crap, we do feel ripped off after paying 1000euros for a secondhand damaged awning!!

Be very careful about naming and shaming anyone or any company on social media before you have solid evidence guys, you could quite easily be sued for slander!

Of course, but two wrongs don’t make a right!!! As Sarah and Nick haven’t got defying evidence that it was the company that caused the damage naming and shaming can lead them into a very expensive law suit and the risk of being sued for slander. When the evidence has been found who was at fault (hopefully they will) then they can write their review and give exact details as to happened to them, any deviation from those facts can bring on a law suit against them.
I've found if people are busy and can't fit you in, they are busy for a reason, I always steer clear of anyone who say we can fit you in at short notice.
You can use a heat gun on the outside van plastic bits and it'll bring the colour to the surface again , just increase temp slowly to avoid melting. GREAT job, enjoy the finished Velton ❤

Sorry about the issues you're having with windows and awning, it is sad when you put your trust in supposed to be professionals and this happens😮 I know you both love colours and it's your little home BUT (only my opinion) when you have too many colours in such a small space it makes it look smaller and more untidy I feel. I would love to see the blue carpet behind those doors, just soo you see blue circles which match rest and guys easiest way of fixing shower curtain would be to attach magnets on ceiling, seen loads of van builds do it this way😊 Looking forward to next wks video😊 Takecare of each other. I think the loo curtains should be beige/neutral instead of a bright color, so that the eye isn’t drawn to it all the time, like your cupboard doors. Maybe one of those adhesive pop tap lights in the loo too.
I love those little plastic veg storage containers, I have a lemon, a yellow onion, and a tomato, they’re brilliant, they work really well, and they’re cute! I get a smile every time I see it in the fridge! The new van looks so nice. Such a bummer about the awning and window problems. I hope the new windows don’t leak…

Hope you get some satisfaction with the awning and window situation. As for the cupboards, they look great now, if you really want colour why not leave the cupboard doors white but paint the front of the cupboard frames a pale colour, maybe.

Hey guys 👋 Agree with a few others. Turquoise (with or without a pattern for more of a feature) for shower curtain and don’t paint the cupboards just put a backing inside the cupboards so you see the colour through the holes and keeps bugs out . Have a blessed week 🙏

Hi, I think you could use coloured mesh/net on the inside of your doors. This would be easy to change to different colours as you mood suits. Also, it would allow the air in and keep flies etc out. Love to you both ❤

I think the bright blue to match the accent blue around the van or beige like the cabinets so it looks more stream line. It’s very nice to watch your videos., no matter what your up to.

Velton is loiking fantastic, you really have done a brilliant job guys. I would have turquoise curtains for the loo, the same as the cushions. I think the cupboards look great white, and keen the van light, bright and airy. Though you could always paint the knobs for a splash of colour, or cover them in some funky fabric. Or paint the rim inside the cut-out circles, to just give a hint of colour from different angles. Or as others have suggested, put fabric/acetate etc behind the holes. You guys are super creative, I'm sure you'll think of something that works for you both.

I learned to trust nobody. Not even family. My mother once asked if I’d give her a lift to the shops in my black cab. When we arrived the door flew open and she ran like the clappers leaving me with a £12 deficit on the meter!

I would paint the cabinet hinges white. and stick blue mesh fabric on the inside of the cupboard lid.... The holes in the lid are then blue and the air still comes through...🤗
Please don't paint the cupboards you will close the space down and make the van look cluttered.

I love the decor just as it is! Truly beautiful, and plenty of color already. The awning and windows are disappointing but surely that doesn’t mean you can’t trust ANYone?! Getting exciting now can’t wait to see how you use the van once you move in. Sarah my mum used to do the same with me and my siblings there are six of us five boys and me and she still went through all the boys names when telling me off only had one girls name to remember 😂😂 sadly she passed away last year but this is the one thing we all laugh about when reminiscing. Get the Billy Connolly voice from the TomTom shop. I think there are two versions, one for kilometers and one for miles. The was a good John Cleese voice but I bought mine years ago for an older TomTom that I have.
