Frankly, if TH-cam decided to actually _try_ at making their streaming section more navigable and fleshed out instead of just occasionally bribing Twitch streamers to switch over, Twitch wouldn't stand a chance. Every year I witness Twitch sink deeper and it perplexes me why TH-cam won't invest more time into improving their streaming interface.
TH-cam doesn't need to that's why. Despite how much ppl complain, TH-cam has become almost a must have. Twitch is niche and will always be. TH-cam just has to wait and they will outlive Twitch easily.

Anyone were familiar with that game has also probably heard of the game they made after that called star rail. Now, these are very popular games with a lot of young people playing them, and one particular meme from Star rail was one of the characters Japanese attack voice lines "KURU KURU!" They can’t fail because the government will always bail them out with our tax dollars. That isn’t the case with twitch. And Amazon doesn’t give the first shit about twitch either, the second twitch’s revenue drops below a particular percentage, Amazon will drop them like a rock

They severed it put it in a meat grinder made handburgers ate em 💩em out used the 💩 as fertilizer grew crops and then dropped a tsar bomba on the finished result
I remember when TH-cam went through policy hell in 2015-17 with demonitization and almost entirely banning swearing and people started moving to twitch once it started advertising it’s less strictness and now it’s the opposite twitch is being money hungry and streamers are moving to TH-cam for near risk free streaming
I genuinely can't imagine how Twitch is this out of touch with its user base. There has to have been thousands of videos with millions of views talking about how top streamers are leaving and all of these policies are garbage yet they still refuse to change course at all. They will be shutting down with no revenue and simply won't know why. Truly a ship with no captain.

@@adaenis Well, then they ARE out of touch, because they clearly have no capacity for understanding that big streamers are already leaving, or contemplating leaving, and that many of them already have their feet deep into other platforms. Another AWFUL change they slipped under the rug was the ability to multi-stream for non partners/affiliates. If you want to stream on twitch in ANY capacity, you are bounded to that site and that site only. TH-cam, Kick and Rumble do not have this policy, so now aspiring streamers have to choose between simultaneously streaming on 3 different platforms all on the upswing, or shackle themselves to Twitch as the boat hits iceberg after iceberg. Not really. People who use 3rd party apps are in the minority. The problem is reddit is removing freedom to customize(which alot of people dont care about). And the possibility of more ads(imo what the majority is concerned about). Honestly i've tried other 3rd party apps and reddit is just easier to use. This one is especially wild because it's exactly the OPPOSITE kind of stupid that every other company is doing. Twitch is forcing you to not do ads, and everywhere else is forcing you to see as many giant ads as possible.
So twitch will force us to watch 6 non skippable ads and cut everyones pay, but if a creator gets a sponsor ad read thats the boogie man? Twitch will literally pimp out every single creator unless they don't get a slice of their pie I guess, and if thats the case their response is to ban the pie.

They're counting on the negative response being disjointed rather than organized. It's just the platform version of cutting shifts and benefits and expecting the wage slaves to pick up the extra slack for no extra pay.
the answer is pretty simple. those tech companies, including youtube are Not profitable in the first place and may loose far more money then they make. they basically survive on investment money. so they have to make crappy changes or promote politics to make money somehow.

I'm not surprised that this happened. I only say this because twitch is run by amazon and, as a former amazon employee, i can personally verify that they are very haphazard with how they try new policies and they simply don't care who it impacts as long as they aren't losing money from it in the long run. There's a very common and popular phrase used by the employees: "if it made sense, it wouldn't be amazon"
Former Amazon employee also, and you are 100 percent correct. I worked for the data centers in Virginia, and it's too the point where your job is harder because of all the policies.
It all depends how the advertisers react to the new policy. Advertisers are the Kings and in the end, what they want is what everyone gets on social media. Perhaps twitch has some things behind the scenes to offer advertisers that they want. For example, if twitch can offer much cheaper advertising slots, which they may be able to do because if everything now has to operate through twitch, they can make advertising cheaper and still make way more money. I'm just throwing it out there as an example. It would suck for streamers but twitch is a company like all others and it will do what is in its interests, and often that means what is in the _advertiser's interests._
@@aarondavis8943 that is true, but with all the big streamers willing to go elsewhere if this happens, then the policy does nothing to make the advertisers money and twitch loses it all in the end. Twitch is by no means the only platform.
I've heard 'twitch is dead' so many times over the last couple of years, but this is the first time I thought, 'damn, I know plenty of creators that this will adversely effect'.
They'd be far more adversely affected if they left the platform.. Because doing that means you lose 80% of your viewers in the short term, and most won't come back. They have to rebuild a whole audience on TH-cam, and the youtube audience is older and less emotionally clingy than the Twitch audience. Hardcore parasocial relationships are very profitable, and it's harder to get that going on youtube than on Twitch because there just aren't enough 13-18 year olds up in here. On youtube you're going to have to rely on whales, because there's not much of a tipping culture here. Twitch knows this, and they know that those who hop over to TH-cam will earn WAY LESS than if they just hunker down and stay on Twitch. Welcome to exploitation. Literally what capitalism does. This rebelling against Twitch will do literally nothing, cause Twitch knows there's no alternative. Rumble is for nazis and incels. TH-cam is a voluntary 90% cut to profits. Twitch is laughing its ass off at all these twitchers pretending they have somewhere to go. We will only solve stuff like this if we stop trying to defeat it one rule-change at a time... It's a systemic issue, not one of a few guys making bad decisions. They need to maintain growth, the only way to do that in a saturated market is to exploit harder, so that's what they do. This is how capitalism rots everything. Stock owners leave the second there's no more growth to find in a business. Twitch has to do this, because they need to grow or die... Capitalism.. Literally how it works. Investors don't keep their money in a dying platform. Twitch is trying to convince investors that there will be profits for them in the future by screwing over their workforce (streamers). Exactly how all the firings every year works. Investors want to see drastic measures being taken, that means the platform owner is willing to take steps. These are the steps they're taking to appease the investors... That's how it be.

Anyone were familiar with that game has also probably heard of the game they made after that called star rail. Now, these are very popular games with a lot of young people playing them, and one particular meme from Star rail was one of the characters Japanese attack voice lines "KURU KURU!" Somebody took those adorable voice lines (which were already a meme because of how freaking cute they were) and vocoded it over the Super Mario world ending theme, specifically the part that you hear in the "pet the X" memes. That video currently has 2.2 million views on TH-cam. Guess where the video came from? Facebook. That's right, FACEBOOK spawned a viral meme for a popular gocha game. @@adaenis Well, then they ARE out of touch, because they clearly have no capacity for understanding that big streamers are already leaving, or contemplating leaving, and that many of them already have their feet deep into other platforms. Same- I could care less about twitch but the way in which he talks is genuine and nice (and funny)
This made me smile
I'm not surprised that this happened. I only say this because twitch is run by amazon and, as a former amazon employee, i can personally verify that they are very haphazard with how they try new policies and they simply don't care who it impacts as long as they aren't losing money from it in the long run. There's a very common and popular phrase used by the employees: "if it made sense, it wouldn't be amazon"
To be fair, this will indeed lose them money in the long run
losing.

Isn't that like the last half a decade for the platform
