It is actually rare that a psychologist will clinically diagnose someone a narcissist. I found mirroring them makes them go away. When they brag, one up them. When they disappear, go no contact. When they go on their classic rants, act uninterested. Mine said we were “not compatible” after a few months of me mirroring him.
The biggest flags are confusion, putting others down, trying to make you jealous or withholding affection. Everything is on their time and they need complete control at all times. I have met so many men like this, it is sick. If you play back you’ll be labelled a bitch and difficult. I believe they are looking for fans, not partners.

@Watercolor Lyric: in my case with a female narc texting was all done in short sentences.
If I came to a point of confusion, feeling mockery from her side she would go on into: "hey, I'm just joking" and mostly talking of her swell-good times she had in her life (travellings aboard to Italy with her ex-boyfriend, being an actress in a theater, playing handball for the school team, etc...), even adding how she was up for a EU project for an animal shelter and because of Covid-19 it all got cancelled!
Through messages she presented herself all almighty and how everyone else around her (including her ex-boss, her ex-boyfriends, mum, dad and brother) are chicken-shit compared to her!
When we would meet she would continue with such attitude and elaborate even more with her own words... all while looking for my reactions to it (screaming that I provide humble kindness and understanding to it) so she could rub it immediately to my face and abuse me verbally (and by our last meeting even physically)!
She would even ask me insane questions like: "can you avoid of cumming by thinking of a cuckroach if I told you that during our intercourse"? Intercourse never happened and such quizzy questions were there just to startle up her imagination, giving only promises of "commitment" and leaving everything of our relationship to imagination!
She sold me an ilussion and she was exactly that (talking ofcourse of her good side that never existed all while the bad side is the only side of her)!
Everything (as I learned the hard way) was just a lie with her (the only thing I believe about her is that she was once an actress during high-school at a theater-most likely she learned her craft there)! Her "victimization" came of just as an cheap excuse to torment me and abuse me hardcore and put me down to the dirt, lacking humanity and moving forward with an attitude of a godess!

All of what you mentioned are exactly what lower and mid-grade level narcissists do.
There are 'higher' level narcissists, who actually spend a great deal of time asking you questions so they can mirror you and use the information to their benefit, at a later time. In fact, these narcissists come off as being very empathetic because they are so curious about your day and whom you've talked to and why you feel the way you do about a subject.
They are very hard to spot, it takes a lot of time and watching their patterns.
H.G. Tudor is a self -exclaim higher narcissist. It did help me understand the levels of narcissism and to identify and leave my 'higher' narcissist.
These types do not get angry (or you do not see their anger) and are not usually possessive. They do have power and/or money and are very smooth and also can be philanthropist. They're usually well liked with a large group of friends/flying monkeys. It can take years to spot one, if you haven't already been entangled with one.
Have you experienced this type of narcissist?

The only way these types can get in is to latch onto holes in your boundary. Really low level attachment trauma content (wounds). As hard as it is to believe, narcissists cannot and do not ever drive these relationships.
The projecting “empath” repeats their unresolved early attachment relationships with caregivers in order to finally find out the emotional truth of self and individuate from family of origin.
They are attracted to people who have “seen it before” and are in utter denial about that fact. Worse yet, if the target blames the narcissist, that’s a really good source of dopamine (supply).

He could get very aggressive about it: "I DON'T want to have this conversation via text messages." He sends texts about working lot and missing me. Then he disappears for weeks. In one case, 4 months. He's been working at a bar since November. If the situation were reversed and I missed somebody, I would invite them to the bar, and then to breakfast at
Denny's or wherever after closing. I don't go to the bar because I would feel like a stalker or something. And I dont want to 'prove' that I'm some possessive weirdo who shows up at work.

@Ruqayya Zaheer I can perfectly understand you! I was in a long distance relationship with a narcissist for 3 years and 2 months and we broke up a month ago ... Looking back, I was so stupid of ignoring so many red flags ... I wish I would have finished everything when I had so many occasions to do it, but the mixed feelings they give you and their love bombing when they feel you are about to give up at them (but they don't want that yet at that moment) made me to keep trying giving chances and work to solve issues with the hope that we will end up together and close the distance ...It took me long to realize I was the only one wanting to make it work, but I am glad that finally I had the courage to give him an ultimatimum and tell him either he gives time and commitment or we go each our own way...his reply after 5 days I have written this was a call in which he told me that since I feel uncomfortable in this relationship it's better apart ... and like this 3 years and 2 months of memories, of meeting each other several times and creating memories, were all erased ...

The comments are as substantial as this great video.
He was calling too frequently. 10 to 17 calls texts a day back and forth. I had to start deliberately ignoring my phone so I can do something besides return or answer calls. Many of his texts would be pics and requesting pics from me. I felt like he was trying to decide if my looks are adequate for him. I sent him a pic of me looking as bad as I could get it, greasy face, bad lighting, ect. then stopped sending pics. I limit my calls to him to about 3 a day and I don't really understand why he calls. He usually doesn't have anything new to share and is not interested in talking about the things I'm interested in.
He never seems to be listening to me. It is confusing - all the calls vs not wanting to listen. I want to be nice, yet I can feel my energy being drained by this. I don't want to be mean and say don't call. But i do want to.

Lisa - The relationship is fake if he is a narcissist. A narcissist doesn’t love anyone. He doesn’t love you. He only pretends so he could take advantage of you. Therefore, he is not the love of your life. Get out now.

This narcissist stuff is getting tiring now I used to watch these Type of videos when I was heart broken. I strongly agree that this is a huge grey area. I believe very few people are truly narcissist. We are just surrounded by some very broken people that’s been past down in these generations. I can look at my mother or friend and say they are “narcissistic” based on all these TH-cam videos I’ve seen and even my ex but to be honest it’s just not the truth. people only do what they know and were taught. And so many people are running around saying they attract narcissist and all these narcissistic people in their life couldn’t that be considered them playing the victim too and being a covert narcissist? A lot of us just need therapy and heal from our childhood traumas and become more self aware which takes time and effort. But please stop labeling everyone a narcissist. Some people have borderline personality disorder some people have undiagnosed autism or serious health issues going on. Anyway everyone thinks all types of narcissists are in love with themselves when most narcissists truly don’t love themselves inside. even the grandiose ones they are extremely broken. We need to look at people with more love instead of judgement. Yes get out and protect yourself if you are in danger or someone is just toxic and doesn’t want to grow. But people should take responsibility of the role that they played entertaining these “narcissists people” another thing narcissist don’t do take responsibility. When you look at your actions you justify them or have a reason but when you look at someone else it’s just they are soulless and a narcissist. See this cycle ?

Some of this is so obvious it can get to be too much on the easy to spot just move on side -but some people are in extremely dangerous relationships or about to be and need to know the signs Which I think the scariest people are usually MUCH more subtle than in this particular video alot of times they are so skilled at playing loving gentle kind patient and generous to "get someone" looking back i think the first sign with this type person is a gut feeling of too good to be true 🤔 when you give your trust and love to them completely then the real them really begins moments of coldness pushing of your moral boundaries control of situations or events cutdowns outright or subtle where your going wait was that just a cut-down about what I shared about myself and you start to see the manipulation realizing maybe all the interest in you has been for thier use The "getting you" can be the selfishness so it wasn't recognized You experience moments where your thinking wait what just happened or very intense ,verbal ,or violent outbursts unfitting to the situations this leaves you in a place of needing some understanding cause your brain and heart doesn't compute what the heck happened how someone can build you up then drop kick you cause your heart wants to believe the good is real and the ugly is just "bad moments " The scariest ones are good at what they do and can break even the tuffest they like that obviously ANOTHER video .

I agree, totally. If you look hard enough, you will find narcisstic traits in all of us. NPD is something else entirely and pretty rare. I am not keen on labelling - a bad boyfriend does not necessarily equate to narcisst!

    • @fffffff6822
      @fffffff6822 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I think most people have narcissistic traits but it is more rare to have a narcissistic disorder. Dr Ramani explains it best. I believe that i have narcissistic traits, i just conditioned myself to not act on them bc it can hurt peoples feelings. Self control is important, and if someone can not do that and just uses people and dont feel regret or feel guilty after are just bad people, they can improve but its not profitible for them so they choose to be assholes to get by. Fuck them

Absolutely! My ex narcissist was constantly texting or calling me, asking me where I was or what I was doing. Or he would constantly text or call me to tell me about the things he was doing, or to ask me something insignificant. It's the power and control dynamic. Nowadays, I cut people who act like this off immediately.

In this video you have hit key points in my on and off 8 year relationship. With someone that thinks spending all day doing things is about 20 minutes. If we get into an argument she changes the subject to something about her looks example: eyebrows eyes lashes hair makeup or I’m getting fat. I myself am programmed and driven to help and love making people happy. You even hit on that. I love her so much but I hate the lies and her never showing me value. Yes she promised me the world in changes and I got zero of what she said but when when we got back together I made up my mind months before this is whom I want and that’s it.

  • @jamiemacdonald208

I had a relationship with a female covert narcissist. Which started by text. The 5 signs you mention are spot on. The false promises or future faking ( I haven't heard this term before but it sums it up perfectly) all turned out to be fake. Looking back there were some clear red flags which I should have picked up on, but everything seems amazingly perfect. But the other thing she did, which you didn't mention, was ask strategic questions about me, so that she could see what made me tick, what pushed my buttons emotionally and what interested me. All part of the mirroring and getting me emotionally dependent. Of course some of what she learnt was then used to attack me during the devaluation stage. I had never come across a narcissist before, and the experience will never leave me for as long as I live.

They do say some unusual things out of the blue. You won’t understand what they were saying until you go no contact. Then you will remember something they said and understand.

My ex narcissist whom I have a kid with does few of these. She always has a crisis or drama, & plays games using the kid, tries to tell me how I don't care, games with my kid's visitation, plays games to get more money than the child support I pay, games so people see me in a certain light, games to pretend she's in control, games because she's jealous I'm happy & moving on, games & more games for no reason. I save these texts. It tells a lot. She's tried to jump from her current relationship, back into my place a couple times. Nope. She's sloppy & doesn't let the bed get cold. No thanks.

I’ve had to deal with lots of narcissists including an ex partner, several friends, a sister in law, my Mother, Father and a sibling. I have developed a fine tuned Narcissist Radar and if I even sniff a narcissist these days I don’t hesitate to completely walk away.
