I watched the end of c1 live and it broke me. To tell you how good these people are, I posted on my Twitter how heartbroken I was and Liam wrote back: Sonnet 71: No longer mourn for me when I am dead BY WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE No longer mourn for me when I am dead Than you shall hear the surly sullen bell Give warning to the world that I am fled From this vile world with vilest worms to dwell; Nay, if you read this line, remember not The hand that writ it; for I love you so, That I in your sweet thoughts would be forgot, If thinking on me then should make you woe. I’ve been trying to think of a way to respond to this but I can’t outside of just saying this is very fitting for Vax and its beautiful must’ve been wild for Liam to respond with this back then
@@HunterSentinel Nothing is wrong with Liam he just chose that bit of writing to show how he or vax feels about how vax ended up at the end of campaign 1 it may represent how Liam feels in general but that would be an assumption
When Caleb and Essek go back to Aeor in the epilogue and look at the time machine experiment. Caleb thinks about reviving his parents, undoing the timeline, having his happy ending. And then casts Disintegrate.
He learned his lesson. He knows he has to own up to what he did. Its the only way he can feel peace. He also could have used an animate dead spell to tell his parents he was sorry. But he let their souls rest instead and buried the letters with them.
Another one I would add would be the moment Scanlan had to choose to use his last level 9 spell slot to autosucceed counterspelling Vecna because was saving the spell slot to cast wish to save Vax after the battle. Tearing up just thinking of the looks on Sam and Liams faces while the rest of the party celebrate their victory. Truly a great and understated moment the most people didnt even understand at the time. Also, the culmination of Scanlan's character development to perform a non-selfish act for the greater good. I cant wait to see how they play that out in the animated series.
One of the moments I can’t wait to see in the animated I just picture slow mo of scanlan looking at the cast from vecna and then to Vax mouthing I’m sorry and counter spelling as it speeds up
I loved how Taliesin was ready to see this character off to the aether. But.... But He knew the crew loved Molly too much and Cad who is meant to keep the balance between life and death, bent the rules of his treasured domain to save someone he doesn't know or care about it for the sake of his friends. I think he's my favorite character of Campaign 2 and that says something because I love them all.

I was working at my ranch and thank God no one was in the barn with me, I was listening via YT premium and had to stop and watch it on my phone... Grog's whole interaction throughout Scanman's moment of death and revival just hit so hard I too, a grown 30 year old horse caretaker, was shedding many tears through the sequence. I think we often attribute the most heartbreaking moments to be attributed to the DM, or circumstances of the game, but Ashley should be commended here. The fakeout of going to Laudna first was brilliant, and the perfect knife twist to an already gutwrenching episode.

Scanlan is by far my least favorite PC of all three campaigns BUT the devastation when he was forced to burn the 9th level counterspell in the final battle and then the reveal "I was trying to save a wish for you" is easily top 3, possibly the most heartbreaking moment of Critical Role.

For me, Grog in C1 hit the hardest as the whole time up to this point he's been just a dingus who is massively indifferent to the events around him (except with Pike of course) and then suddenly he's in an emotional rage. Yelling to "fix" scanlan, and then when they performed the revivify ritual his face when he realized Scanlan never heard what he said as his offering... maaaan that hit the feels like a cannon ball. Patrick's face the whole time as he just silently sits there staring off and listening to the group is also an underrated reaction as his expression and silence speaks heavily on the moment, also letting the main group have their moment in the scene. Its a struggle to watch Laura covering her mouth as Travis is yelling to fix him.
What's the point in showing only half of Vax's goodbye? There's *so* much pain that is played out in that and not showing it is a disservice to the entire table, and at least somewhat disrespectful.
