My favorite place in the world. We 1st visited in 2000. Fell in love with the slow paced life style, gorgeous scenery and the clean, sweet air. We've been back 16 or 17 times.
@johnc1329 Aloha John, it is easy to see why it is your favorite place! Yes, the "sweet air"! This is so true. I looove the smells of Hawaii! Thank you for watching. Have a beautiful day!
I'm just visiting for a week with the video was still very informative for my needs. I like to get a feel for how it is for the locals living in an area in which I visit, And the way you included the cons as a part of the video really gives me that perspective. Thank you.
@zackpoll8893 Aloha Zack, thank you so much! I hope you are enjoying yourself. I have a feeling you are. 🤗 I'm always happy to answer questions if you have any about the area as well. Have fun!
I was born and raised on Kauai during the seventies through the eighties and lived in Hanamaulu for the whole duration of my childhood then moved up to the Wailua homesteads and moved to Oahu during the winter of 1991, I used to love going to Wailua when the theater at the Coconut Market Place still had the theater for movies, Waipouli and Kapaa for the restaurants and when Zippy's an the Kapaa bakery was still around. The high humidity on Kauai can wreak havoc but keeping air flow throughout the house helps keep the mold issue down, it is expensive to live on Kauai these days and the high cost comes from shipping of food, basic necessities, fuels etc.
Aloha Jason, thank you for sharing your childhood highlights! I love Wailua homesteads area, so pretty! What did you think of Oahu? (I love it there too!) Have a wonderful day! Thank you for watching! :)
Aloha Leah, Thank you so much for watching! I would be happy to set up a home search for you with your budget that would be emailed to you you once a month if you would like. You can keep an eye on things so that when you move here, you'll have a good idea of what Is out there and what things will cost. Where are you planning to move? Are you moving to this island? I am happy to answer any questions you have. You will love it!!! Good for you!!
It’s a dream. I went to Hawaii 15 yrs ago and it felt like home. I’m working out the details for work I don’t know much about kapha but I’m wishing it was
My family is from Hanalei Town although all my cousins now live on Oahu. My mom was born in Lahaina, Maui but my heart is always on Kauai. The stories of my grandparents time growing up on Kauai were heartwarming and the many visits to Kauai I had when I was younger brought those stories to life. I know there is not much to do there so plans will take me to the Big Island when I come back home. Aloha
Aloha! What a wonderful time you must have had visiting! Have you spent a lot of time on the big island as well? In my mind, there is less to do on the big island. I love to visit there - So many great adventures to be had!!! But I wasn't sure if there was enough to do for me to live there. I may not have spent enough time there to know. Kauai is able to hold onto it's small town feel. But I think it has grown quite a bit over the years. When are you moving home and where are you living now? Nowhere compares to Hawaii after living here! I learned that the hard way after I moved back to Florida after over a decade on Oahu. I was so very happy to move back to Hawaii.💚💜💙
@@Oahurealtor1 I live in New Mexico. I have been to the Big Island many times. Kona-Kailua is where I would like to be, there or just south keeps the small town feel and it is drier than Kauai. Kauai is just too expensive initially. With Lahaina’s devastating fire it’s hard to visit knowing where my mom grew up is now gone. Oahu is nice especially in Kaneohe but I like the smaller population Kona. Plus the Big Island is more reasonably priced…for now. Thank you for your correspondence. I envy you for being there. Visit the little green church in Hanalei. That is where my grandparents were married. I will be in Oahu in October to visit family and friends and it can’t come soon enough. Aloha
@toneyo4794 I love the little green church! What a beautiful spot to get married. My mom just asked me to take her there.💚 Yes, Big Island is more reasonably priced for sure. I prefer the lush side, Hilo. I love the waterfalls and big green leaves. Kaneohe is nice and lush!
@JackDaniels-oh8qm Hey, Hey, Jack Daniel's. How are you? I think they are just getting started building something over there. It sold a little while back. There have been some issues with the people here not wanting a hotel to be built. I think the project is getting started. I am not really following though.
@@JackDaniels85-4x4Vandura Hey I thought I responded to this already! :) Sorry about that. It was recently sold and I believe they are starting building, much to the dismay of many!
For me Kauai in general is my Favorate Island.. I have Family both on Kauai and Ohau, now Ohau especially Honolulu is just Los Angeles in the Tropics... but Kauai with its building codes makes it and keeps it from over building or having more then 3 floors blocking your view of the Aina and the Curfew makes it quite past 10pm.. and you will never get lost.. since there is no roads cutting across the island.. only one 2 lane hwy that goes from 1 side of island to the other.. but does not connect, o ya.. the hwy say from Lihue to Kapa'a is dark like a Horror movie.. no street lights.. scary .. but..... for me again Kauai would be nice to live if you want to get away from most of what your used to on the Mainlands.. as for me i live in SoCal.. i have abt everything within 5 miles from my house.. as for Kauai you have alot but its limited.. and the bad part is if you had a medical problem or emergency then you would have to take the next flight to Honolulu.. the Hospital there in Kauai is limited to what they can do.. yes they can do alot but its limited minor stuff... so I would love to have a time share.. or just vacation there.. but to live there.. I still would prefer here in SoCal.. I live at the Beach.. no Coco palms.. but a ton of Washingtonia's palms which is what ppl would call Calif palms.. you see nothing but those on the beaches in So Cal... not looking for anything there Penny... just making a comment.. Hey even the ppl from Hawaii loves to fly into the mainlands.. to experience the phrase. " To have Everything within walking distant" and what the islanders love mostly is Las Vegas... for them its a half a day flight.. for me its a 4 hours drive... Bottom line.. Kauai is beyond beautiful.. a must place to visit and a place that should be on your bucket list.
Don't moving to hawaii thinking it's a paradise and then complain about the cost of living. Don't move here unless you already have the means to support yourself. It's California cost of living without the high paying jobs. Don't come here thinking you'll figure it out when you arrive. This is not Florida.
I went to Kapaa high in the late seventies. Its a very expensive place to visit and a very boring, primative place to live. I lived there for a year , had a good job at hanalei bay resort. I was so happy to get out of there. No desire to ever go back
