@beswick1111 perhaps something to do with rent prices and salaries. I had a donut delivery business when the lockdown started, and to make a really good donut I was spending A LOT of time. If I was to price it fairly for the time spent no one would buy it! So to make it a viable business artisan bakeries have to price the items for the effort that goes into making them. I’m always happy to pay because I know what it takes to make something good
Hey, I knew Carlo's bakery from Cake Boss, but I didn't get the chance to go to Hoboken on this trip. I visited their Times Square location and it was very commercialised around the show (even though their signature sfogliatella was good!). Interestingly, they weren't included in any of the ratings and "best in new york" articles I've read (and I've read a lot). For those reasons I left them out for now, but I'll do a feature when I manage to get to Hoboken on my next trip 😊
Wow does that ever look delicious all of it! If I was there I'd be like a kid in a candy shop. I would probably stay all day LOL
So many great bakeries. Yummy.
Thanks for the Like.
One of the best in my opinion is NITA on Greenpoint Ave,Sunnyside and STORKS in Whitestone.

@beswick1111 inflation over time
@beswick1111 & maybe supply and demand. If your getting it from a popular shop of course it’s going to be expensive
