I have a 2021 sport gladiator with manual lock (no -power). I have locked myself out multiple times sometime far from my house (Thank you Uber). After 2-3 unfortunate experiences, I have decided to carry a bare key copy (no fob) hidden in a secret spot under my jeep; and it has saved my life a few other occasions when i committed the same dump mistakes.
I was wondering about that myself. My Sport has manual doors, windows, etc. So now I know that I need to immediately clip the keys back on my belt after opening the door.
Could be so when you use the remote start, it will remain locked??? Many states have issues with vehicles running (warming up) and unlocked in the winter.
That is good to know as I am a new Gladiator owner. This is the first push button car I have owned and took a while to get in the habit of leaving my keys in my pocket. The other habit I got into with my other cars is to lock the car with the key in the door. Bad experience taught me that.
You can leave the JT running and exit, and remote lock it. This could happen if you forgot to shut the engine off. It could happen if you are rushing into a store for coffee for a few minutes. Not good if you are going out to diner 😢
A service guy at the stealership told me you can lock your keys in the Jeep. I never tried it until I watched your video. Leave the key in the Jeep, hit the lock button and close the door. Repeat three times. It will lock the third time. I left the window down to make sure I could get it.
What if you leave a key fob inside the 2020 Rubicon, not running, and you use the second key fob in your pocket to lock the doors. Can someone walk up and pull the handle. Will it open for them without a key fob in their hand???
Any vehicle I’ve had since 2017 is this way that I’ve had. Two reasons, one. Is it’s probably like my Ram with the remote start that I don’t have on my manual Mojave, but, it would turn off after a while during the winter. It would only remote start for so long without the key in it. It had an automatic timer that would just turn it off. The second scenario, which is the same even for Hyundai, if you run into the store or gas station with it running it won’t let you lock yourself out. Only it beeps really loud for several seconds instead of the honks and flashes
I should mention that I have installed McGard locks on all my doors, wheels and tailgate. Consider doing the same. Then register those lock codes. And store pictures of the codes in a folder on your phone.
Still watching the video, but had to stop to say I too was blown away by the resolution of the rearview camera. Coincidentally I was looking for videos on how to hardwire a rear and front dash cam when I saw your video 😂
I had come home just as my wife was looking to go out so she took my gladiator since it was already running. She got about a half mile from the house before I realized the key was in my pocket. She came back to collect the fob, the dash had a warning that the key was not with the truck. Not sure how long she would have gotten with the key separated from the vehicle. Maybe a future video. Great stuff!!
I like being able to lock it running cus I let it warm up for a few minutes (meanwhile I go back inside the house with key in my pocket).... note this was before I had the remote start installed
Mine came with the remote start function. I have owned both a 2018 and now 2020 JL Wrangler. Didn't know they could be had without the remote start function.
I leave my ford truck running when my dogs are inside and it is hot out.. I leave the AC on and the windows up. So now that I will have to do this with my JT.
Curious on if you use the remote start from inside the house, doesn’t it lock so know one will steal it until you arrive? Never used my remote start so don’t know.
Thank you for your content as always. So I have recently purchased a 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4 door, I noticed that my key fob can still lock the door even with some of the doors open/not close firmly. It does not prevent me from walking away with doors open by chiming/horn differently. The interior light is on if you don’t close all the door, but something is hard to tell during daytime. Is that normal?
It happened to me!!! I had a mini heart attacked when I did a manual lock and once i closed the door i realized i left my key inside! good thing i have a spare key at home. Now i always keep my key in my pocket before turning on the engine!
NGL you scared me for a minute when you manually locked the JT then had to use your spare to unlock it. I was scared that it didn't unlock because I have my set to honk and yours didn't.
Currently sitting on my 2020 Jeep Gladiator truck cover... I locked my keys in the truck bed, with the cover on, and left it running 🤦🏽♀️ currently waiting on Roadside Assistance
So this past mothers day weekend i took the doors and entire roof off, got sunburned by the way, and noticed that the button to turn the Jeep on will not work with no doors!
One thing I noticed. If your car is in drive and you step out of the car, the car will stop moving with the engine running. It wouldn't move an inch. You will have to turn it off and restart it when you get back in.
New to JT and just got locked out with Jeep running. I was a ways away from my vehicle and used the Jeep app to start and cool it down. When I got to it it was locked with my keys inside and then the app crashed!! I called Jeep and after wasting 15 min. with them I deleted the app and reinstalled it, reset my password and was able to remote unlock it. Moral of the story, don’t leave your keys in it and remote start. 😅😅😅
@@robmotiveplus you tried with the power locks and truck running..you tried manual locks and truck running, did you try manual locks and truck not running? If so, I did miss it
I forgot my key in a 2020 four doors Jeep wrangler and it locked up, and I'm pretty sure I locked it up with the electronic button and not manually. I forgot to take the key a few times before and it didn't lock up, but this time it did and I have only just one key . Somebody told me it also happened to him once , and it was because the battery was low. But I forgot to ask him which batteries ! the Key or the vehicle ? anyway i went back home to take my 2008 jeep wrangler and will come back on Monday morning to see what i can do about it , because the jeep in in a basement of a big store and they are close untill Monday 26.
@@robmotiveplus they said that’s impossible. In the we owe paperwork they put a key and the manual. Let’s hope they actually help me out with this. Lesson learned check the physical key.
Here my horrible experience on this, it happened to me on my 03 Jeep Liberty inside a car wash. All doors where locked, got out of the Jeep and I accidentally hit the manual lock pin that’s on top of the window sill with my elbow and closed the door.the Jeep was running also and in neutral and it went through the car wash, at the end the attendance push the Jeep further up and away from the car wash track so other cars can go through and not causing a traffic jam and shutting down production. The funny thing the car wash was beside the Jeep dealership. Went there to serif they could unlock it but they couldn’t. So I phoned customer service on my warranty card and tow truck guy came and used a balloon wedge type tool to open enough to get a long pull gripper to pop the straight pin up.That’s was thee most embarrassing moment in my life.

I’ve done it twice many years ago! Very frustrating 😡
Not all of us has power locks, I've locked myself out twice now. Thank God for the soft top lol
Lol!! How’d you get in?
Can't you just remove the rear panels on the soft top from the outside?
@@robmotiveplus removed the back window and reached in to unlock
Yep! Third time for me since September 😬. And I’ve not installed my soft top yet
