- This video is straight to the point on how to install a Tachometer onto a Yamaha VStar 1100. The piggy back spade connectors can be bought online or in my case i bought them at my local O'Reilleys Auto Parts.
The tachometer i used is a Bikers Choice tach
this is the tachometer i used

using the link above allows me to generate some revenue. thank you
Perfect, thanx...Will do the same but i will place it in another location... I wondered just how to mount the cables, so your film was perfect! Not to long! 👍👍👍
Good Video Thanks. I have just bought a 2011 Vstar 1100. I've been trying to check my RPM I think the TPI is out (getting a clink on startup) so, this helps to locate the coil etc. Graham, Australia
Glad it helped you out!
Nice explanation. I will follow along and install a tach. 👍👍
Thanks for the information !!! 😎👌 Worked on my 96' Royal Star Tour Classic !!! Must of the original tachometer instrucions says to connect the red and blue wires to the head lamp, and that's weird because it receives a constant / stable power.

He cambiado el regulador está bien con el voltaje y amperaje pero no me mueve la aguja del tacómetro
Aesegurate que no haiga interruption en El circuito y que El cable del la tierra este bien.
I have an 2007 1100 Vstar Classic. I like the bike but I dont know why they didnt put tachs or fuel gauges on them. Thanks for the video.
No problem! I know especially a fuel gauges
That thing looks nice. Was it all blacked out from the factory like that or painted after? I might throw a tach on mine too.
It was painted afterwards but the majority was already black!
So it goes to the rear cylinder? Im having people say the rear cylinder is cylinder 1 what do you think?
Honestly i dont remember. Ive long since sold the bike. The way o installed it in the video worked perfectly if that means anything
Will this same process work on a 2009 v star 650?
It should be the same. As long as you got an ignition coil then it will work
what did you wire the tachometer to?
The coil.
I grounded it to the negative terminal of the battery
Flames on a tank is incredibly ridiculous.
they do look awesome... too bad they've cut corners in the more recent models
