It's interesting and helpful to actually see the complete process, the draw filing, the polishing, and finally the hot blue / anti-rust. Books and instructions are all well and good, but these short videos gave subtle insights into the process, and told a wider story... I had a nagging question of is barrel bore stoppered? ... apparently not! Good job, I learned quite a bit, thanks!
Thanks for the kind words glad you enjoyed the series. As you saw, no the barrel is not plugged when it's blued. I do plug them when using Cerakote or Parkerizing. You should check out this 4 part series I did on bluing a Remington 742. I go a little more in depth. th-cam.com/video/Cm58xhFqsiI/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching.
Ahh the old rust blue formula. I do have one but I'm not ready to divulge it yet. It's the proprietary formula I got when I graduated PCC Gunsmithing school.
@@Turnbullcustomguns if you sold it, could you do it for a price a little less outrageous than these people today? Lol. Just need to start on a milled AK build and bluing is the first thing I want to do
I was able to hear you just fine! That barrel looks awesome, that rifle has a whole new life now
I'm glad, I was worried about that with the fan going. Yes my customer was very pleased with it when he got it back. Thanks for watching!
Nice work, Don!
Thanks!
Fire! Great work!
Should have a new bluing video in the next week. and a Bolt Jeweling video too.

Came out nice. Good stuff.
Thanks,
Another beautiful outcome.
I see some people talk about plugging the bore so no bluing gets to the bore. Do you ever do that?
Nope I never plug the bore when caustic bluing. I do when rust bluing.
Nice. Got any rust blue formulas to share? Having a hard time finding one that isn’t $30/oz online
