I repair old irons for a living. You'll be surprised how much owners are willing to pay for it to get them back up and running. Sometimes the repair fees are more than what they bought it for.
Thanks. It would be nice to do some painting to it but I always make that my last priority when overhauling a machine as it adds nothing to the function. Usually the tear down/repair/reassembly process takes a long time and I don't end up painting. Ken
I will probably do some checking just out of curiosity as there isn't much I can do to correct any problems. The final test however will be machining parts and seeing how they come out.
Hello Stan. Thanks for the offer. I am starting to think that the ways are in pretty good shape and I am going to leave them as is. Once I start machining parts I will find out if they are up to snuff or not. Do you rebuild/rescrape machines? Ken
@@hmw-ms3tx Yes, have done some rescraping on smaller machines than your HBM, but am not a professional rebuilder. Offer is free mainly as thanks for putting up some enjoyable videos.
Hello, my boss is trying to get in contact with you regarding the same machine you have he’s having issues and the internet is not helping him. Is there anyway to get in contact with you?
Very nice machine. I have a small Giddings and Lewis. --Doozer
Looks and sounds great, thanks for showing
Happy Holidays…enjoyed the update

Good work so far!! I'd put the up button in the down button hole and vice versa.. and take a well deserved nap! Press on !
Nice progress. 👍
It's always good to see machines coming back to life.
Hello Ken,
Great to see it running... you're doing a great job. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

so do you plan on further checking the ways for straightness, coplanarity, parallelness etc? or have you decided that it's good enough

If interested, I may be able to help with my 60” camelback straight edge and scraping gear. In Wpg.
