Trick or treating is indeed fun but one of the best parts about it is that first year you don't do it and instead hang out with your friends. I was 13 and I wore a devil costume that showed a sliver of my midriff and hung out with a group that included boys. I'd never felt cooler in my life and I swear to god, I don't think I have since.
Many people don’t like these older horror movies but Halloween has always been and will always be the best horror franchise imo. From when I was 7 to now I love this franchise accept for the rob zombie version I am not a huge fan of
@SofaSloths most people don't really understand that that's what Michael Myers is about. Is he a real person, or the SHAPE of a person? Is he flesh and blood, or is he something more? At the end of the day, the idea is that evil never dies. Even if you do manage to kill MM, you're not gonna kill evil. Dr. Loomis underscores that a lot in this movie. Michael is the personification of evil, wandering around in the darkness. Anywhere there's darkness, he could be there. Watching and waiting.
Lindsey is played by Kyle Richards who is in The Real Housewives Of Beverley Hills. She was also in the Halloween reboot a couple of years back as an adult.
I think that is a common thing in Carpenter's films? Or at least many that I have seen; a character watching an old movie on tv. That original adaptation actually ain't that bad, insofar it is a 50s horror movie and one of the firsts (1951). I mean, it was made by Howard Hawks, after all.
Great reaction, Michael is the first supernatural slasher he is not human lol. Well, the real Michael Myers at least lol. Also, will you watch Child's Play? I highly recommend!!
Part 2 continues the story but they did something different with Part 3, it doesn't involve Michael Myers but its still a good movie called Halloween Season of the Witch
That's on the movie studio not John Carpenter. On the audio commentary for Halloween 3 season of the Witch. Tommy Lee Wallace explains that the movie studio got a screenplay or script called Season of the Witch. That had nothing to do with Michael Myers in any way shape or form. They read it they approved it then last minute told John Carpenter. We will not found a movie called Season of the Witch if you want us to found the movie you. Have to call it Halloween 3 or no founding and no movie whatsoever. So John Carpenter an Tommy Lee Wallace had to reluctantly agreed to call it Halloween 3. Because it was the only way to get it founded but if it was up to John Carpenter and Tommy Lee Wallace. It would of just been called Season of the Witch. So the Halloween 3 part is because if movie studio black mail basically.
He promises, he delivers!! Totally! Yooo, Sofa Sloth!! Glad to see you treating us with a classic slasher movie! Keep them coming! 🔪 Awesome reaction, Ryan!! That somehow both dry and spicy British wit really shone throughout it, haha. The movie itself is truly iconic, like you said, the haunting score, making both John Carpenter & Jamie Lee Curtis famous and kicking off an entire genre on its own. I think there are 13 movies so far, with various and odd levels of connections to each other, so its pretty wild. I would def suggest at least checking out _Halloween II_ & _Halloween H20_ , as a somewhat custom-made trilogy of sorts. Uh, but there are so many suggestions that come to mind now; definitely _The Thing_ next out of John Carpenter's filmography, _The Prom_ & _Terror Train_ both slashers with Jamie Lee Curtis, and _Black Christmas_ & _When A Stranger Calls_ as older proto-slasher-esque examples. Prepare to get scared, spooked and squirmy, haha. Albeit, and I think I asked this in some previous comment, have you watched Alfred Hitchcock's _Psycho_ ? It is usually considered to have majorly influenced the slasher genre, if not being one itself. Totally!!
13 MOVIES?!? I had no idea it was that many 😮 Well then I appreciate you suggesting a suitable trilogy out of them all! This was so much fun though haha! It was super tense throughout and surprisingly wasn't that gory for a movie like this! Ooooh those other recommendations sound good too! I'll add them to the list! Thank you! I have seen Psycho, but Naomi hasn't! So that is also a possibility! Thanks for the comment 😁
@@SofaSloths While _Friday the 13th_ franchise only has twelve, haha, go figure! Ironically, the first _Halloween_ movie I watched, and it was on tv I remember, was the aforementioned _Halloween H20_ so some of the call-backs and spook factors went over my ignorant head. 😵💫 Oh, the gore only went up in the 80s, when the genre reached its peak, while these olden ones are all waaay more into psychological dread and suspense -- well, the title is _Psycho_ after all? Would Naomi like the movie then? I hope we find out, hehe! 🤞
Well, it could an orphaned metaphor of some kind, but skunks are mustelids, so very distantly related to wolverines and badgers. Maybe the fictitious ones in Haddonfield are just as vicious? Or their gas is just that strong? 🤔
Here's how low of a budget they had for the movie. Every one pitched in for every thing the actors where getting filming lotions ready for filming. The guy who made the breakable doors an things. Played Michael Myers for those scenes because he knew exactly where and how to break it. Because they only had one to break then at the end. They only had one light bulb left that they quickly passed around carefully. As fast as possible during the end of the movie because they could not afford another light bulb. So basically super low budget. Now this was supposed to be the last you see or hear of Michael Myers. On the audio commentaries for the movie John Carpenter says he never planned to make another movie with Michael Myers ever again. To the point that after they where done filming this movie. As shown as he got home he looked at the Michael Myers mask an said. Im never going to need this again then he just threw it under his bed an completely forgot about it. Then a year later the movie studio called him an said. We that being the movie studio are making Halloween 2 an its going to be about Michael Myers. We are going to make it with or without you but remember that you are still under contract with us. His then girlfriend Deborah Hill who also worked on this movie. She also was Michael Myers in some scenes said if it going to be made regardless. Along with you being under contract still you an we might as well. Work on it an at least get paid for once since we hardly got paid for the first movie. So basically the movie studio interfered an made Halloween 2 about Michael Myers. Then John Carpenter only worked on it because he was still under contract an to actually get paid. So he did as little as possible on Halloween 2 he hates an resents Halloween 2. Because this movie was supposed to be the last you see an hear of Michael Myers.
Wow thats super interesting but also kind of sad, I've heard that it's still worth a watch though! Did you enjoy it? and that is crazy about the budget, they did such an amazing job with what they had to work with! Thanks for the comment!
@@SofaSloths Here's the thing just because he hates it an despises it. It doesn't mean it's a bad movie he only hates an despises it. Because the movie studio took his Idea for Michael Myers an ruined it an kinda vea the contract card. Made him work on the 2nd movie so its like how would you feel about something. That you where forced to work on against your will kinda thing. You would hate an despises it to especially if it ruined your idea for the original project. Because as John Carpenter said in the first Halloween movie its nothing more. Then fate that puts people in Michael Myers path random fate. They don't go to that house they live they go there an do this or that. It puts them together with Michael Myers an well you seen. But in sequels an this is why he never wanted to make a sequel to this movie. You have to give the killer a resaion to go after people. It can't be random fate anymore he wanted every about Michael Myers to be unknown. Is he human or supernatural who knows why does he kill who knows. Where is he at the end of the movie who knows. So he hates an hated the idea of the sequel or any sequel for that reason. In sequels you have to give them motivations an resaions for who they kill an go after an why they do what they do. John Carpenter loved giving no answers in his movies. John Carpenter wanted to do a anthology kinda thing. Every Halloween a couple new movie with a new story an new antagonist new every thing. He never wanted to make a movie franchise. Case in point Halloween 3 season of the Witch. On the Shout/Scream Factory Collector's Edition of that movie Tommy Lee Wallace. One of the writers an the director of the movie says on the audio commentary for the movie. When asked about the name he says that it was written from the start to have nothing to do with the Halloween movie franchise or Michael Myers. It was written as a completely separate movie from the start. The screenplay or script was given to the movie studio. With the name Season of the Witch the movie studio read it an seen it had nothing to do with Michael Myers. Along with the other Halloween movies then approved it but then told John Carpenter that they would not found the movie. With the name Season of the Witch if they want them to found it they would have to call it Halloween 3. No Halloween 3 in the name no funding an no movie. So John Carpenter an Tommy Lee Wallace reluctantly agreed to call it. Halloween 3 Season of the Witch because it was the only way to found an made the movie. But if it was up to John Carpenter an Tommy Lee Wallace it would of been just called Season of the Witch. So you see what John Carpenter wanted to do an how the movie studio kept interfering. With it so yea that's the basics of what John Carpenter wanted to do an why he wanted to do it that way. Along with how the movie studio kept fn it up by interfering.
But personally I don't an never seen a need for a sequel to this movie. Along with so many movies not every movie needs a sequel. This movie had a nice an contained story as John Carpenter puts it on audio commentaries. A psychopath killer escapes a mental hospital. He stalks and kills some babysitters an other people. Some die an one lives end of story no need for a sequel. I don't watch the sequel myself but you may like it so I say go for it. I never tell people what movies to watch or not watch. Because every one likes different things. I personally only watch this movie an Halloween 3 season of the Witch. They are the only ones I ever plan on watching an owning on physical media. I seen the rest minus Halloween kills and ends. Because I stopped caring about this movie franchise. Basically because the movie studio kept interfering with the movies. For example one movie ends like this the next movie rewrites that ending so that ending never happened. Non spoiler but put it this way Michael Myers has been killed off 3 to four times now. Every time the movie studio had the next people rewrite that ending in the next movie. So he never died in the previous movie.
New an separate comment because you will need to look up. A Halloween timeline map for this movie franchise. This is one of the reasons I hate this movie franchise. Because there is Multiple different timelines not including the remakes. Basically this movie is connected to Halloween 2. I went over how an why Halloween 3 season of the Witch is its own separate thing. In a reply to my other comment an someone else comment. Then Halloween 4,5 an 6 are connected only to this Halloween movie I believe. Then it go to Halloween 1 then 2 to H20 an Halloween Resurrection. It completely ingors the events of Halloween 4,5 an 6. Then Halloween this Halloween movie to Halloween 2018 to kills an then ends. That one completely ignores Halloween 2 , 4, 5 ,6 H20 an H Resurrection. Then there is the 2 Rob Zombie Halloween remake movies. This gives you a basic idea of what a mess this movie franchise is. Basically as long as Michael Myers was killing people. The movie studio did care about anything else like movie continuity. As I also said in a previous reply under my original comment. The movie studio had people rewrite the ends of several movies in the next movie.
Love the Halloween franchise. 🎃 Michael Myers is the G.O.A.T.
Someone goofed in the credits , he was not 23 but 21
Loomis said 6 year old boy. Add 15 and he's 21
Part 2, Loomis says Michael is 21
Next Halloween movie picks up exactly where it left off, after it shows last bit of this
Oh really?! Okay interesting, well it's on the list for a watch! Thanks for letting me know!
You can skip part 3 though. Doesn’t even have Michael Myers in it

Wow what a great fact!!! I have no idea as I haven't seen the show but my partner does!! 😂

"They always come back" actually this was the series which established that.
Oh really? Haha well then I guess that makes sense 😁
What really bugs me in this movie is nobody ever puts a light on when they enter a room.🔪💡
Similar theme to The Exorcist. Exorcist theme only occurs for a brief moment in the film. Was let down by that part
when i first saw it.
Ohhhh that would explain it then! haha thanks for clearing this up! 😁
Truck or treat is becoming more of a thing in uk...although the COVID restrictions seem to have set it back and it has not fully recovered from that🎩
