I created a FC like a month ago by completely randomly messing with random programs, it ended up pretty fine for a first time, just far from efficient due to me not knowing the tools, and apart from the color swap any other thing was made manually since efficiency isn't in my book as I said
Nice tutorial for beginning creators, but still, hardcore custom drawing works solid, and better (for me especially haha 😆) Air's wings at first looked like piece of scrap metal, and after some time i made second, laser version of them, and Sean said would be cool if they will be main version, and since then Air have crazy stylish golden laser wings (and then i updated them countless times😆) 🌪️✈️
This was a very nicely made tutorial, but there was only one thing that I thought was missing: What about using a Kirby sprite from other games, like Super Star Ultra? I've noticed that many of the Kirby FC characters found in the animations I watched used a Kirby sprite from Squeak Squad or any GBA Kirby game; I never understood why that was the case.
Question, while you used the Amazing Mirror/Squeak Squad Kirby for spriting in this video would you consider the Super Star Ultra sprite for Kirby a good idea to use too?, and If so which one does the Kirby spriting community prefer more?
Feel free to use the Super Star Ultra sprite style. Although, we see those sprites for kirbs that are bigger than the average GBA size style (like making em big bois) or something. So its a preference if ya wanna have a big kirby or a average size kirby that the GBA style uses.
From my experience and what I've seen with the community, they preferably take the squeak squad sprite style because it is slightly more smaller and uses less chunks of colors for the character. Making it easier for you to add in noticeable and simpler details. Super star sprites are fine to use, but you'll notice the increase in difficulty when using them. Most notably they require much more use of shading, and needing your accessories to be much more detailed. Although I've seen people such as Squirelkidd and KA use them because it fits their needs like making certain parts of the character more detailed ofc, but also because they need their character to be that detailed when they're performing certain complex actions. That goes without saying that squeak squad sprites can also be complex by your hand, but you'd also notice how difficult that could be as well to make them complex. Everyone has their needs and nots, it's up to you to figure out which sprite style fits best for your character. I hope this makes sense to you. Feel free to try out whichever sprites for yourself and see which one is easier to sprite, but also fits your needs.
