Fern, my white Boxer dog, is an accredited service dog under the 1992 DD act. She holds special access rights to be allowed to enter places most dogs cannot. This includes National Parks such as Chiltern Mt Piolet NP where Reedy Creek is located. Unless your dog is an accredited service animal they are not allowed to enter NP.
Check your local regulations, as each state and territory is different, before you travel into or though NP with your dog. Here is the Parks Victoria website for those of you wishing to read up on Victoria's laws 👉 www.parks.vic....
Chris see if you can find a rake or snow fence to use as classifier. You could make a foldable sluice box. kinda like a tent. Shovel dirt on top of snow fence and mat. then remove snow fence and large rocks, agitate rocks on removal. Then shovel more on top of snow fence once its back in place.
Good day on the creek, looks like the beards coming back for winter 🥶
just a small one
I am so glad to see someone using this method! That huge precatch area with the mat makes this almost 100 percent recovery I bet!
Very good episode!
The mat deal was excellent, Chris! So many ideas to try using the matting. Amazed at how well it work for the fine gold. Makes me wonder if the heavier gold was pushed by the other material.
Now if you can teach Fern to dig material onto the mat for a while. ;D
Back in the 80's when we were kids near Avoca (central Vic) we used small portable venturi suction dredge's, that would be awesome in that area, but I'm sure they would be very much frowned upon these days, so great job and keep digging and rubber matting.
Cheers, Pete
I don't how this video slipped by me. I'm just glad it came up on the side list of video choices. I do my best not to miss any of your videos. I enjoy watching y'all having fun looking for the gold and seeing what you find in the end... Thanks for sharing them. Be blessed my friend in Jesus name.... BBE...
Keep that Mick fellow around! I increased my usual take by almost %40 using the "Mick method"! Cheers!
Usually just pan in S.W. British Columbia with mostly fines, not a lot of chunks ...
A project I would LOVE for you to do is (semi)permanently install (secure) a rough sluice in a creek you know floods when it rains hard.
Then come back to it after a flood when everything has settled and pan out the concentrates.
This means doing it where you are allowed to, and where it won't just be stolen, but it would be very interesting to see if it can catch that flood gold that replenishes the waterways with minimal effort.
I have never gold panned before but you and the other youtubers have motivated me to do so. I have found a lot so far but my only problem is smelting. I don't know how to, so I am just keeping them is viles until I can find a way. Love you Chris!!
My humble suggestion, don't melt your gold finds. There is something so wonderful about gold nuggets/flakes/flour gold that can't be matched by a gold ingot.
Raw gold is nature's beauty that you can hold in your hand, or in a small bottle, a beauty that cannot be matched by processed gold.
Vials
CHRIS and crew, now you guys went and did it! as soon as i can go shopping i`m searching for one of these mats so i can be ready for spring run off to go down a little bit so i can get to the creeks, great ideas, tips, and video
So positive. Love hearing the running water. Thanks for doing these inspiring shows. It is a great wind-down moment when I find another new release. Thanks.
Nice mat, Mick! 👍 👍
Awesome result for a first run. I am sure the cleaning out process will improve by further usage / experience.
Been watching your vids all winter while snowed in over here in New England. Just noticed that I wasn't subscribed!! Fixed it and looking forward to notifications. Another two weeks and I'll be able to test my modified Goldrat!
Nice gold Chris really awesome. 👌 will be posting soon on Wisconsin gold lol 😆
Hey Chris awesome video,
I thoroughly enjoyed watching and I think that matting idea with the solution front of it was working pretty awesome. Keep up the great work see you on the next one!
Didnt get the complete soaking we coped after this and Mick taking a tumble trying to climb muddy cliffs with his giant sluice
How dare you not be filming during a thunderstorm....... i don't care if there is lightning, next time use drones and that extra long steel selfie stick for the perfect angle
@@trevdyer173 bahaha maybe I'll just wear a suit made of copper aswell for extra safety
Cool idea Mick, and great video Chris!
That’s a pretty cool idea & some pretty reasonable results. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin
That's a great idea hey nice work Mick
You should try using the V matting on the other side of the sluice now. Compare the difference between the setups.
Add some vibration and maybe a grate above to get the big Rocks out. Maybe metal detect a bit around for Nuggets too
That was awesome Chris. Great job
Just happened to wake up in the middle of the night and BAM...vogus posts!!
Great haul
you could feel it coming
@@VoGusProspecting That's what Weeknd said. :-D Great idea for an original video, using a flexible mat as a pre-concentrator of sorts...hmmm, love the fresh ideas!
Very nice bit of gold Chris, I have a 2 by 3 metre v matting from Bunnings and often thought about this. I need to stop thinking and try it just like you guys. Thanks for the video 👍
Great idea ! I'll have to try this when I get back up to the Yukon. Keep up the good work.
What a top idea mick.. I think the Australian Bunnings stores are going to be sold out of black rubber.... :)
Now that is a sexy amount! That mat did its job you deserve some cookies for that haul bud lol you get me more motivated with every video ♡
Great idea with the mat, l live in a desert might be able to use that idea making recirculating pond...
i run in fastwater..i use the Keene A52S sluice, has legs, grizzly bar, and 2 different screens..its meant to shovel unclassified material right into it in fast water..works great..cheers
Great vid Chris and camera person. That was grouse. I love the mat idea, only I would like to see it set up like a long dropping sluice. I wonder if that would work.
Hello V.G.P., Great finds guys! Think you're rig ht t that ya should've been in the faster part. Ya'll cleaned up w/that little jaunty!! Be safe and take care, "God Bless", sincerely, Randy. 👍👍🙏🏻😇👊
P.S.: Don't forget to scratch that spot they can't reach! L8TR!!!
Hi Chris, thank you for this interesting video. Here in Italy, gold prospecting has been shut down due to covid quarantena. Hope you are fine there in Australia. By the way, thank you for keep posting video like this one. They keep my hope alive during these boring and difficult days. See ya mate
bored to death here in Austria, too these days - snow fall and shitty weather - but thanks to Chris and Co the urge to go out for prospecting is kept alive ;) nice channel you have yourself, mate! My italian is below zero but I subscribed anyway - subtitles work fine and maybe it improves my language skills a bit ;)
@@Pillepalle-x7k thank you! You are welcome!
@@Pillepalle-x7kare you near Feldkirk I've got family from there and surrounding areas. My late father was from Feldkirk. Was always wondering if the gold is good over there
@@gadzee506 Unfortunately not. I live in Vienna which is in eastern Austria and Feldkirch is in the far west, close to Liechtenstein & Switzerland. Austria is not known for big gold depots like Australia, Canada, Alaska and so on - best spots known are "Hohe Tauern" where they expect to be many tons left. Or areas in Graubünden (Switzerland) are not that far away from Feldkirch. You can find placer gold in small amounts in many creeks anyway but many areas are protected so you have to research a little where it´s allowed to dig and where not.
Where are you from?
@@Pillepalle-x7k lucky I never got to go to Vienna my Dad said he cycled down there when he was young. I hope to get back over there one day Austria and Switzerland are beautiful . Yeah I wasn't sure about the gold over there sounds good tho no doubt a lot of creeks and rivers are protected I've never seen water so clear as over there. Sounds similar to Australia with places you can dig in. I hope you can get out soon and find some gold.
That prewash mat is a great idea it, adding a extra layer of capture will always make the take home pile slightly better
Suggestion: Once you've dumped the main concentrates into the pan, turn the mat so the grooves aren't perpendicular to the pan. Then, the rinse won't splash. It will easily move the remaining bits down.
Enjoyed watching you pan for gold great work for a short day.🤗
Glad you enjoyed it
Loved this setup!!!
Pretty handy hey. Works better in fast water but hey
@@VoGusProspecting perhaps it is possible to direct the upstream flow into the matting with a diagonal dam?
(Being stereotypical dutch here, immediately thinking about dams as a solution, haha)
AWESOME CHRIS AND MICK that was a phenomenal take of that Booger sugar lmfao👍😎🇨🇦👍😎🇨🇦👍😎🇨🇦
I've been using my heavy conveyer belt mat in the creek no box just the mat and a few rocks, its lightweight and easy to set up if you got a good spot with pitch and flow, and my spot does ,,nice haul
What is that swirly matting you're using and how hard is it to clean out?
I'm a leprechaun have you seen me pot of gold lmao 😂 just sitting here enjoying that morning cigarette lmao way too funny mate and that's a damn good idea that you and Mick had with that mat that's pretty cool always thought about doing something with that like out at my uncles he's got a old truck bed liner that I always thought about doing the same thing with but it's cool to see someone else actually do it too cool keep up this awesome work and may your days before with many heavy pan's 🤟👍✌️🍀✅🤣
Another great video , educational and entertaining
I just received my first gold pan I’m starting to prospect around my house. ty for all your work on this channel it’s been a inspiration
Good luck!
great video Chris👍✌️
Put the Matting in a section of the snap together AC duct??
That's awesome man keep up the amazing videos 👍👍👍👍
Lovely resolution from the camera (what do you use?) also love the rubber matting idea, but I love the GOLD BEST of all!! 👍
Canon M50. Ots getting a little old now. Has around 40,000 clips filmed on it.
Another great video and awesome leprechaun suger candy. Love your poppy on the side of your hat, if that is a poppy? Did you serve in military Chris?
I did not serve
@@VoGusProspecting ok. Just thought you might of served for some strange reason.
what creek is that
and where is it
No
what do you mean no
Good video,
Wishing you Silver wishes and Gold Dreams. May all your pans be full of gold...
Happy hunting from N. California, USA 💰✌💰✌💰✌💰💰✌✌😎😎
Nice pile!love all your methods!
How , one shovel full?! LOL that darn near what I get in half a days work here in Colorado, USA!! Not nearly as chunky that’s for sure lol! Glad to see you out and about!
Scarface's booger sugar cracked me up😂
Nicely done Chris.
Thank you
Goverments: so all his equipment cant be used anymore.
Prospectors: anyways i got creative.
Love the Outback ingenuity.. lol. What App do you use to calculate your gold value?
Gold Calc . com
Nice work guys. I like Mick's mobile snake skin matting.
Using the matting to get fine stuff is a great cheap idea, and easy to pack in and out on foot. Not sure I agree with blasting your sluice with the shovel like that though, just blowing out your sluice.
Love the videos brother keep it coming!✌️
Hey Chris where did you get the Matt from can you put a link in for that .
Hardware shops
I love the matting idea. Just a little more water flow and you'd have been even more golden. Great finds and awesome video as always!
Good video! Hey Fern!!
Awesome. Goes to show you that thinking outside the box can have rewards.
Very cool ideaAnd it seem to work quite well definitely a nice deposit there anytime you can get over a gram is awesome especially when it’s fine gold thanks for Sharing see you on the next one👍🏻👊🏻
Nice work Chris 👊🏻😈👍🏻
Thanks 👍
Nice work chris that matting is hilarious but it worked that bedrock looks just like the stuff im working right now found my first nugget ever .651 one year since i started panning lol on st patricks day how appropiate anyways have a good one
Gday Chris great video mate. Now! I have two dogs one cat and three Chooks what do i do with the Chooks? 🐕🐩🐱🐓🐓🐓
Train them to peck for gold and then when they die you get a gold bonus to buy their replacements.
My dad had a friend that did something similar way back when. He used the centre part out of a tire and he would throw a shovel full on every now and then. He would make enough to pay for his weekend adventures and that was when gold was about $350 a ounce.
Love the content man!!!
Hay Chris it’s WHAMaTRON lol I just found you on TikTok bro 😎
Hi Chris, this is a very low cost solution to finding abundant gold. If you really are getting that much gold out of this creek, then you should build a dredge. It also uses the water in the creek but adds a pump so you can suck up all the fine gold I'm seeing. You can buy a new pump for about 500AUD, and used ones go for as little as 100AUD. There is the added cost of fuel, but the volumes you can process will far outweigh the operational costs. I would love to see the piles of gold you could get with a dredge.
Unfortunately dredging is illegal here.
@@VoGusProspecting That's probably why there is so much gold in the creek.
Looking good, great job guys!!
Slick trick on that gold, fooling the nature of gold trap it before the sluice laugh all the way to the bank.Great trick Chris love your videos David out
best prospecting content out there, the scarface line comment cracked me up😂
I agree... I don't get how there is any thumbs down .. haters .. love this channel , then Pauly and Dan ..
@@derekgraziano9499 A thumb down does not automatically mean someone is a hater... maybe one came from Zoe who wanted to spend that day with Chris but instead he went prospecting with the boys? ;)
@@Pillepalle-x7k ahhh ... thanks for sharing
That is the most gold I have seen you find in a long time. That was nice. Perhaps you should use the large door mat more often. When my Spanky see Fern in your videos, he wants to play so bad, he just whines for her.
What river is that on? What country or state is that in?
Where did the matting come from? What is it?
Its just rubber floor matting from a hardware
Great idea 💡 !! Kudos to Leprechaun !! 🍀☘🍀☘🍀
nice little haul. you could really rake it in with more time.
last time i was this early pauly had almost 20 ounces in his pan :0) great vid and as always looking forward to the next adventure :0)
Nice!!
Shirt idea: HONEY, WHERE’S MY SUPER SLUICE. Great idea, gents. A very tidy haul today!
Honey i shrunk my gold

Micro gold. The ultimate man glitter.
I like the way you guys think it makes sense
Chris that was the longest 4 days of no videos u spoiled us last few weeks with constant uploads
I've averaged 3 videos a week since November. Need a break.
@@VoGusProspecting You have been a busy little platypus.
Shooot that bushfire clay looks so nice and easy compared to the clay here in SW Oregon. The stuff here is like, super hard clay packed with gravel and grit and sand. I’ll trade you lol
You are doing great job bro, may god bless you.👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much 😀
Great video boy's did a awesome job keep up the hard work much AU LOVE from Washington State
Cheers buddy, right back at you.
Very nice result.
Good flipping show man
Ask Mick what patented 'Mick Matting' is worth, take my money. 😂
About ten bucks at Bunnings.
😊
Good little take there man rich grounds
Nice work 👌
Where do you get the mat from?
Hardware shops
@@VoGusProspecting does it have little ridges all over it ?
What's the gps coordinates for this spot?
Try rolling the mat up and wash it in a bucket like you would normally with a sluice mat.👍🍺👊😷
I watched them set up over that pan then I lowered my head, closed my eyes. Oh, the humanity! 🤪😆
The main problem is the weight. Very heavy when its full
@@VoGusProspecting I am sure your not kidding! I like the concept a lot, but need a certain protocol for managing the ungainly beast mat👍🏻
Love the mat, maybe a half inch grizzly above it.
that was verry interesting gives me some ideas to try thank u
Nice bro where’s the spot? 😁
God I love your videos man I don't even look for gold just really enjoy your videos
Thank you
You're welcome
Nice haul.
