You've come a long way! It's Nov. 2024 and have loved binge watching your channel! I always learn something and have a great time watching you guys. Thanks for sharing!!
It's now 5:17am here in tassie. I can't believe how quick the time went just watching you, and how I didnt think about all the troubles I am going through in my life. Thank you so much for letting me have a break from my own thoughts.
Another Great video Chris, the best bit for me about your videos is you convey why we go prospecting.... its just a bloody good excuse to get outdoors and get your hands dirty while enjoying company with friends
Who ever said you stop playing in dirt after being a kid has obviously never been gold prospecting.... either that or they never found anything and don't like being out in nature lol
Ok. I know it should be important to know that I am in Puerto Rico USA. I retired 3 years ago but have been studying the ways of prospecting gold. I started seeing my buddy, your countryman Andy from Adventure Gold. Then I discover you and now I have two great guys from Australia. I go stay in the jungles here in PR with my dog too. I stay 3-4 days at a time. My dog digs for gold too lol He pushes me away when I start digging and he digs the same spot. He also dives for rocks underwater and comes out and puts them in a corner. At the end of the day I check out his pile. Hahaha its so funny cause he's a Labrador and very eager in the water. Anyways Chris, thanks fir the video. Must say this is one of the most enjoyable videos I've seen from you. Great stuff, Thanks. You have a buddy in Puerto Rico USA.
I just discovered this channel a few days ago but I love your stuff. Seriously, the format is great: not amateur, but not overdone and fake like most TV shows. You come across as a great guy who's genuinely *passionate* about his hobby and that's what make these videos fun to watch . Keep it up mate!
Thanks, it was very interesting and i learned how to pan gold. You are very well spoken, knowledgeable and confident with your delivery. Just to give idea who I am, I am a 62yr old woman in Northern Ontario Canada who is limited as to what I am able to do. So I watch a lot of videos. I LOVE TH-cam. Watching you was enjoyable, informative and relaxing. A am glad I just happen to find you. I love learning and growing everyday. Thanks
Chris, thank you for your video's I have been watching your shows for 6ish months and it brings me joy to know that you have this awesome outlet that has given you the time to self care, as someone that suffers from ptsd I am grateful that there is light at the end off the tunnel. Thank you for giving me a hobby that ticks every box for me
Chris I've been watching your videos for about a year, I understand the joy thats on your because I feel it to every time I'm at the river taken a gander for some gold. Always look forward for your next adventure.
Easy gold there for the picking. Without the knowledge you provide the picking would not be easy. Thank you very much for all your great videos. Beautiful gold, good company, and paradise. Don't get much better.
Thanks Chris for the great advice especially the info re the solar gear. I have been speculating for some time.... 👍 I really look forward to the Friday episode. I hope you enjoy what you are doing and it doesn’t become a chore or burden for you. Love the pathos and peaceful down to earth approach you exude. Cheers
Vo-Gus Prospecting great that you really like it because you are really good at it. 👍👏👏👏 so much so that my wife and I are holidaying in Italy at present and had to find a hotel with wifi so I could get a fix on your next episode. Love you work. It reminds me of the trout fishing series done by Rob Sitch ( of comedy fame) entitled “A river somewhere” which was aired as an ABC series and was the catalyst for me taking on fly fishing. It might be worth a look at that series as it might create and inspire some new ideas for future episodes. Did I tell you I love your work. Cheers Barry have a great day
What a magical 4 years of terrific episodes. I’m sure if I put my family tartan’s kilt on for each episode I’d have my skirt blown up each time. Absolutely professional quality production with valuable knowledge shared on every video.
Great video. One of your best yet. I'm really liking the new format, it's informative, entertaining and I find it rewarding to stick with you because thanks to you I have found gold on a small creek that supposedly has no gold. I want to take this opportunity to thank you sincerely for making all these videos and I also want to give a shout out to another two great prospecting TH-camrs, Dan Hurd and Pioneer Pauly. They're a wealth of information and great guys like you. Dan Hurd did a series where he teaches how to find gold in a classroom setting and that was also a big help in finding my first gold.
You have such awesome knowledge Chris and your video's rock. I always learn something new. What a beautiful way to spend a weekend with friends and of course can't leave out that pup griz. So you thanked us for watching when it is us who need to thank you for sharing your knowledge and taking us along on your adventures. It is my pleasure to be able to watch you and learn from you so a very big thank you! I love your videos and always am excited when you have done another so keep them coming and I will keep watching. Sincerely, Deb
Happy Aloha Friday to you there in AUS Chris... that was a nice haul for a quick weekend trip. that was awesome info... I will one day have to go to AUS to find some of that awesome yellow that you keep showing. Keep up the GREAT work with these videos, staying healthy, and positive.Enjoy the weekend. Aloha p.s I think I had the 1st view... lol ;)
See you Friday??? Chris, it is Friday :) I agree with those other comments - this was an epic vid. Gratz, you've done yourself proud. I especially liked the camping requirements bit of this vid, where you showed us the product and an approximate price. That was very very helpful. Also, I enjoyed the hunt. That's what it's all about. Doesn't matter how big or small the gold, how much or if there be none; it's all in the hunt. You're on the right track mate, keep it up.
Another great vid Chris, so informative. You are going to love the monster, I use the same "cherry picking" method and have done OK in the Gold Coast hinterland of all places, who would have thought. And give Griz a scratch behind the ear for me, what a personality ! I have also made three different diameter nozzles for my yabby pump, I can get a lot deeper in small crevices and don't have to move as quickly between crevice and pan (smaller opening retains material better) they are just a nozzle, not a gold trap.
G'day Chris, I am really enjoying your prospecting videos, I find myself getting caught up in your enthusiasm. You keep me motivated to get out and do some detecting
This is a fantastic video about getting away for an enjoyable peaceful weekend fossicking for gold. It particularly good for explaining that it is not just about the gold. If we find gold, of course it is a bonus. I have been taking my kids away fossicking for thirty years and we don't always find gold but, we always have a great weekend away. !.5 grams is worth about $AU88.0 A weekend away,,, priceless.
Nice video, Chris. I'll use your advises the next time i'll go prospecting. It has to rain 2 months in my place, so now i can do only crevicing in the bedrock of some dry creeks. I'm a beginner prospector, so every advice, every episode is very useful. Thanks!
Love your videos brother, New to the prospecting scene love the outdoors. I live in California so cant wait to apply some of your teachings. Thanks again for sharing.
Great video very educational thank you very much for explaining everything. I will be watching this over and over again. And I am new to the channel. Getting started.
Love your work, I've only been watching your channel for a few months but I am catching up. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, very informative and fun to watch. Cheers..
Just the right video I needed to see. with my impending trip (week long and 300 miles away) to get back into prospecting, this video is awesome. I have never done a prospecting overnighter. although I think half of my younger years were spent in the woods. there are so many places I want to go but all require distant travel unless I want to dry wash pan. Luv the mountains and luv your videos.
Good show Chris, I do want to get something off my chest here. Once a week a long show builds up expectations and i believe this must pressure you to come up with new insights and film techniques. New guests and places to show. New methodes and extras. I feel a bit guilty expecting all this from you. I am glad you are breaking things up in seasons so you can take a long view on where you are going. Take care and have a good one, Thanks i really enjoyed :) Rufus
Love you're videos, inspired me to start fossicking, honestly these videos keep my hopes high in finding gold, I am from the gold coast so I have to travel long distances to get to prospecting site's. Creeks here are alot different from the area's you work in, any tips would be very helpful. Thanks for the awesome videos 💯
Awesome video as always! Love having watched you evolve over the last almost two years now and I am hooked until you stop making videos! Was wondering on how you determine a season for your show? Apparently it isn't going to be by the year if you are only on episode and week 6 and already talking about season two. And are you going to be taking breaks between seasons, like a month to yourself without the pressure of getting a video out each week?
I have ideas that I want to explore in future season that have come from a lot of subs comments, the ideas are sort of a collection of comments and messages. I dont think I'll take a break, but who knows.
Hey I'm really enjoying the series and after the first week got used to looking forward to Friday and watching your video. Good stuff and can't wait for the next one.
New to your channel, but I've been watching some of the others made here in the US for a little while now. I was just wondering what you might think about the glacial deposits near the Iron range in northern Minnesota. Do you think it would be worth prospecting the creeks near lake Vermilion for instance? Just as a hobby of course. They've been doing core samples near the Canadian border up there and found a mine that is promising to produce around 800,000 ounces, but well, yeah in think they're using more than just a pan and some elbow grease lol. Most like flower gold in the creeks, but I'm thinking it would be a fun way to spend a weekend sometime with my 8 year old daughter. She loves being outdoors.
Nicely done, first time I’ve ever seen a miner talk about his camp and gear, thank you. On another note if it wouldn’t be asking too much, any idea if David from Taz is still making videos? My family really liked them as well.
Our "Yabby pumps" usually have a necked-down nozzle on the front - greater suction and not as much chance for you to drop stuff out while you transfer the sucked-up stuff to your catch pan - that's the rationale (sp?) anyway. Ever used one? Thoughts? Your videos show you losing material on many Yabby pulls. Love the videos!
This is awesome, Chris. Congratulations on the channel going great guns, and good to see you've got such a fun hobby out in the fresh air. Would love to get out there with you one day and learn a bit. A guy at work knows your channel, and when I was watching a video with him after a convo we had at work, I realised it was you on here! :D Cheers from your old - same first day at HHS - buddy!
Wondering if you could show more if any of the wildlife you come across? Great work! Love your channel! Was thinking about a Vogus vs. Poly competition.
When your using a detector in a creek do you mark where you pick up signals and then go back and work the markets once you have covered a larger section of the creek ?
Of course I brought it, minelab are way to tight to give out detectors haha. I just like stirring so thought it would be funny to tag minelab in my posts.
Awesome vid mate, you make prospecting look so easy haha, cant wait till I get down to victoria next month and have a scratch around in a creek or two.
Since this was in 2018 mu question is…..Are you still using the same equipment today that you did when this was published? It would be interesting to do an update on these three items, any changes? Any comments about them?
Great video as usual next time you use the dream mat try rolling it up and cleaning it out in one of your little buckets. Loved the under water yabby pump shots were awsome! 👍🐍
@@VoGusProspecting Good stuff!, I'm actually in the silver fields in Cobalt Ontario Canada right now metal detecting for silver ore and silver nuggets, we don't have any good alluvial gold here so I go for silver!
Wow, thanks so much for the video, only my second one since discovering your channel. What a lucky boy I am I have the rest of them to catch up on. Superb content mate, and you have an amazing presence on film......
Great Vidio and nice info about the camping gear , Had to watch it twice as girlfriend started vacuum she paid special attention to the tile joints Iam sure she thinking there ripples maybe holding gold lol
In Canada in the old days...this type of gold mining was known as “making wages.” 1000s of Early miners worked their lives away doing this day in and out until they got old and literally dropped dead in their creek! By the way, love your channel Chris!
Looks like great fun! Just ordered your book today to learn more. Can I ask, is there any actual money in this or more fun and exercise? The pan you showed after 4 buckets through the rubber mat sluice, what is that stuff worth? Thanks
Hi Chris hope your well just letting you know that one of my favourite videos was the sluce (sorry if that’s spelled wrong) that was made out of the water bottle and was wondering if you’re going to do any more videos of everyday things that can be used out in the field as I thought that it was a handy thing if you did have a sluce with you while you’re prospecting 😁
Great video, nice work. I admire your persistence, can't be easy with so many people correcting your methods on the comments... I've thought of posting videos but having to reply to all the comments is more work, I think, than panning. Keep it up mate.
Sure thing , I think that's the way forward. Keep all your conventions and trade mark shots. You now have an audience that's world wide and you can find the good stuff. Good look with the channel.
Hey Chris. Wow. You're on the gold there mate! Another great video. Thanks for sharing. Unbiased constructive criticismey bit: Your videos are very skillfully made. On the videography side, stunning and highly entertaining. My ONLY suggestion would be on sound work, which is a bit inconsistent at times. Also, I think when you grab your camera while it's on the tripod, you are putting one of your phalanges over the microphone. Looking forward to season 2. I hope we won't have to wait for it.
The audio will never change, I use up to 4 different cameras and they each record audio differently. I dont get paid to spend days editing it all together. When I rewatch it if I can hear it then I put the seal of OK on it lol. I appreciate the feedback, it does help, just this audio thing isnt getting fixed until someone throws money at it.
Not when you have 60GB of data to edit, each clip can change dramatically. All I do is a basic level, all the little nuances you can here adjust to that.
Just a hobby man, I love making videos and this is a way of chasing that. The principles of gold prospecting and miners remain the same irrespective of scale. The only change is the cost to rewards.
Thats true, our 1080 dog baits deteriorate after a week from morning dew alone. Strichnine however will poison water, though its not used much anymore.
Another thing I would be taking on my camping trip to an area like that: Is a good first aid kit and especially with some good quality wide stretch bandages for snake bite first aid. Where you are working and camping looks like a fair bloody dinkum great home for Tiger and Red Bellied Black Snakes. You might not see them but I can assure you that they are there. Maybe even some Eastern Browns. I do a lot of hunting and shooting in areas like that. But I love snakes.
Have you used an Equinox 800 the way you're using your 1000? The 800 seems to be sensitive to that small gold - which the 1000 is probably MORE sensitive to - but HOW MUCH MORE? Trying to decide which one to buy! No people I trust have tested both on SMALL gold - IN THE FIELD. Air tests don't tell much....
Honestly the GM is way way better than the 800 on gold in the field. The 800 will do a great job on gold of decent size, 0.1 etc. But the GM will push that down to alluvial flower deposits.
i see you've got the crowbar working well for you . And you're getting some results. Well done. What I would suggest is if you are up in NE Vic or over the border, find a larger auriferous stream at a low water time and particularly one with large boulders. Large boulders are great traps for gold because they tend to create large depressions,(i.e.low points) in the stream bed because of their sheer size and weight and the have lots of low-pressure zone potential. Take a reasonably portable jack or winch with you, along with your crowbar and move those big suckers so you can access that lovely yellow stuff underneath. Even with just a crowbar, a large boulder can be moved. Use the 'jack and wedge' method. I.e. Lever the boulder up and save any movement in it that you have achieved, (even if its say 1 inch ) by jamming a rock in there to stop the boulder falling back into its original spot.Take your crowbar out for a better lever point and repeat. Each little bit of progress using this method should move the boulder enough eventually to get down into the 'goodies' zone. Some friends of mine found a bonanza of gold by moving a large boulder in a well-known stream not too far from Moe, which has been worked over for absolute years by every man and his dog.Good luck.
100% mate. I've done exactly that with a hand winch with fantastic results. Thing is I only film 1 out of 4 trips or so. So a lot of stuff never gets seen here (for good reason too).
Chris, mate, it astounds me how you still get excited at getting 1.5 grams after 2 days I've seen some vids some from the states where some would be disappointed at such a small take. But d'ya know what buddy. you prove that it's not about the fever, it's all about enjoying yourself and being in one of the most beautiful back yards in the world. You just like me, love our state of Victoria and this great big brown land we call home...
@@VoGusProspecting Mate I think it's as clear as that creeks undisturbed water that you definitely do not do it for financial gain, and anyone who would think why else would one do it really needs to spend a couple days camping within our scenery. You and Andrew are my two main Australian inspirations, I wait in anticipation for your next installment with your adventures of something, I am completely prepared and equipped to do, but never get round to doing. P.S. Apart from my ATX Deep seeker I went and got myself a GM1000 after seeing your vid with Pauly :)

Croc or Gold Rat sluice systems?
Gold rat!
@@VoGusProspecting Thanx for speedy response bro....Keep up the good work!!!!
Nicely done, first time I’ve ever seen a miner talk about his camp and gear, thank you.
On another note if it wouldn’t be asking too much, any idea if David from Taz is still making videos? My family really liked them as well.
His name is now blue dog Prospecting I believe
Thanks brother. Looking forward to watching more videos. Keep up the hard work.
Cheers from your old - same first day at HHS - buddy!
Dam man blast from the past. Funny how small of a world we live in.
Wondering if you could show more if any of the wildlife you come across? Great work! Love your channel! Was thinking about a Vogus vs. Poly competition.
Problem is getting the camera out in time, I do try. We have roos everywhere and ive never got good film of them!
Question can you guys use a dredge/high banker combo there in Australia if you have a settling pond
Nope outlawed in 1991.
When your using a detector in a creek do you mark where you pick up signals and then go back and work the markets once you have covered a larger section of the creek ?
I just work each target as it comes up
Chris great vids,I think it is important to clear the air, all your socials end with " wheres my monster" and then you have one? Did you but it?
Of course I brought it, minelab are way to tight to give out detectors haha. I just like stirring so thought it would be funny to tag minelab in my posts.
Good video Aussie Chris,..................thanks for explaining as you go,...............Barry , New Zealand
Awesome vid mate, you make prospecting look so easy haha, cant wait till I get down to victoria next month and have a scratch around in a creek or two.
Good luck man
Since this was in 2018 mu question is…..Are you still using the same equipment today that you did when this was published? It would be interesting to do an update on these three items, any changes? Any comments about them?
Good video. No complaints here. Keep going.
Thanks mate
Keep up the good work. Always informative but not preachy. I like how your editing moves right along. Hoo's a good dog , Grizzly?
I could get preachy lol
Luved it matey .. great vid
Great video as usual next time you use the dream mat try rolling it up and cleaning it out in one of your little buckets. Loved the under water yabby pump shots were awsome! 👍🐍
Not my sluice so probably won't be using it for a while.
Wow what a fun spot! Great video Thanks Chris!
Are you going over the tailings with the metal detector for any larger nuggets or specimens?
Yes, I always take a detector for that reason.
@@VoGusProspecting Good stuff!, I'm actually in the silver fields in Cobalt Ontario Canada right now metal detecting for silver ore and silver nuggets, we don't have any good alluvial gold here so I go for silver!
Thanks Chris ,,,,well done
Well done, Bute looking stop it's good to get out overnight.are you still using tong's in your pump?cheers Craig
And leather baffles
Wow, thanks so much for the video, only my second one since discovering your channel. What a lucky boy I am I have the rest of them to catch up on.
Superb content mate, and you have an amazing presence on film......
Great video Chris. What a great take of gold 😁
Found the video informative and enjoyable. What is the tarp dam name and who makes it from where?
Watch the episode before this one and all will be answered.
I'll keep it quick and to the point👍👏👏👏👏👏
😄😄😄😄
Hello sir I love how you work the dirt love your videos your commentary personality and your guard dog thanks for the tips and keep up the good work 👍
Biggest softy of a dog, love him to bits
Great Vidio and nice info about the camping gear ,
Had to watch it twice as girlfriend started vacuum she paid special attention to the tile joints Iam sure she thinking there ripples maybe holding gold lol
Check the u bend that connects your washing machine to the waste pipe 😉 that's where house gold is
Keep doing what you're doing we appreciate you sharing your time with us and your knowledge, thank you from Central Point Oregon USA
That's the plan mate, glad to have you
In Canada in the old days...this type of gold mining was known as “making wages.” 1000s of Early miners worked their lives away doing this day in and out until they got old and literally dropped dead in their creek! By the way, love your channel Chris!
luckily i dont have to do that
Looks like great fun! Just ordered your book today to learn more. Can I ask, is there any actual money in this or more fun and exercise? The pan you showed after 4 buckets through the rubber mat sluice, what is that stuff worth? Thanks
There's little money in gold in this scale.
Simple maths is roughly $45-50 a gram.
Ive added it to the list
Great video, nice work. I admire your persistence, can't be easy with so many people correcting your methods on the comments... I've thought of posting videos but having to reply to all the comments is more work, I think, than panning. Keep it up mate.
Armchair prospectors mate. I find it funny because we do this full time and you can see how uneducated some of these people are about prospecting.
Hi Chris, Can you please give me the link for the solar panel & gas burner, thanks
Goal zero is the solar and jet boil is the stove
@@VoGusProspecting Thanks Chris, hope you find lots of gold tomorrow
Where can I find one of those metal pans you use?
Great video. Nice and long for the viewers to get stuck in to and enjoy,.
Trying to make it feel a bit more TV episode based
Sure thing , I think that's the way forward. Keep all your conventions and trade mark shots. You now have an audience that's world wide and you can find the good stuff. Good look with the channel.
Thank You was great to watch.
Good video! Thanks for posting.
Great video, learn somthing every time, keep up the good work !!
Hey Chris.
This is such a great video!! Hats off again:)
Thank you mate
And just like that..I found a new favorite channel
Thanks mate, hope you find more that you like.
First time watchi g your video.. nice job. Do you do this for a hobby or career ?
Just a hobby man, I love making videos and this is a way of chasing that.
The principles of gold prospecting and miners remain the same irrespective of scale. The only change is the cost to rewards.
*1080 won't poison water. it has very high solubility and breaks down in moments.
I did not know that
Thats true, our 1080 dog baits deteriorate after a week from morning dew alone.
I see tons of them, but im more likley to get hit by another human than a snake haha
Anyone who thinks I do this for money has been blinded by capitlisim. People put a price on everything and value very little.
I'm going out tomorrow with this concept in mind. Thanx Chris
awesome, thanks for the shares of equipment thoughts and for sharing the video chris. like usual always a good watch and wish was joinin ya! happy panning bud.
Glad to see Grizzly having more fun than you. He is the star of the show as I am sure you know.
