Last year’s stocking was the first time I tried knitting a sock and heel and I was able to figure out the short rows fine from your videos. I am happy that you are giving us this alternate easy heel. Good to learn different versions. It is always a pleasure spending time with you both and I learn so much! You have published 10 📚 books. Thankful for you both!
Day 24: What an amazing experience this advent xmas stocking has been! I have learned so much about tension, keeping track of which row you’re knitting (thank you Knit Companion), making an afterthought heel and colour work! It always seems to me that the more you know, the less you know! I just can’t stop knitting and learning! Thank you Arne and Carlos for this free experience and for publishing 10 books for all to enjoy❣️🧶
10 books! Arne, you taught me long ago about the leg-lifting hole fixer and I have ruthlessly used it all over sweaters and other things. I *adore* that you (who are such a brilliant and talented knitter) don’t agonize over teeny-weeny mistakes. Me neither. I really love this KAL. Please consider not getting bored of repeating every year; it is just so much fun. Thank you thank you.
I , too, learned something new. If I picked up a knit stitch and it was on the needle the wrong way I always made the correction. Now, knit in the back of the stitch!! Saves a whole step. 10 bopks
You two teach things so well, thank you. I understand what you mean about describing things, I would do that for my mother when she lost her sight, and she was able to "see" the things I was showing her, and I learned how to do it through listening to stories on the radio. 10 books published so far as I know.
Thank you, Arne and Carlos, for this wonderful knit along (my first with you). You have made this gray, windy, rainy Berlin November so much lighter for me ❤
Can't understand ANYONE who would send hate mail to people as generous and kind as are the two of you -- thank you for this charming stocking, and for your 10 (TEN) books!
My mother always knitted my socks with the heel flap. Since she died I had to do it myself. I didn't like that heel to knit myself. I went looking for an easier heel and then I came across you, with the easiest sock part 1 and 2. And since then I only knit the sock this way and I have knitted a lot of them now, with a lot of pleasure. thank you very much ❣️ Many greetings, Lily🌸
Fantastic KAL! Never did a heel like that and I must say, it’s the easiest heel in the world! Thank you for doing this KAL again. Love learning how to fix that hole at the ankle! You both are a gift! You published 10 books.
This has been so fun and now to finish it and get the heel done! Thank you for the hint about how to fix any holes if we have them. It is sad that tomorrow is the final day but I am thrilled that I did this and so thankful to you both for doing this knit along for all of us!
Good morning from sunny Qld, Australia 😊 I have so enjoyed what is my 2nd stocking knit along. Despite the heat and humidity, I've managed to cope with my woolly project in my lap. This will be my first afterthought heel, but I know I'll conquer this technique. Thank you for your generosity, what a mammoth effort to bring us 25 days of episodes. For Free !! 10 books published.
I am a sock knitter and this is the first time ever I have done an afterthought heel! I can do it. Thankyou. Just bought another of your Xmas stocking patterns to do my own december knit along 6 more rows a day Yay
Oh my goodness this requires a pint of Baileys for courage! Hehehe. Right wish me luck I’m going in! Arne and Carlos what a genius way to fix the hole, it really is. You are officially my gurus of choice. Thank you so so much for all the wonderful tips, your generosity of time and this free knit along. And thank you for your 10 wonderful books. ❤
You published 10 books and were translated in several languages. I keep learning something as you knit something. Also love this knit alongs because it keeps me relax and healing.
You have 10 beautiful books! I have to say yes I agree this heel is the easiest heel in the world. My stocking is coming along beautifully 😍 thanks so much guys
It's a nice way to do the heel, I now understand the fixing of the holes better and the knitting of a heel on the easiest sock of the world. I didn't want to knit my first ever sock on my own and now I feel more confident to start my socks I want to knit for my husband after finishing the Xmas sock. Thanks Arne&Carlos, so glad I saw all episodes day after day. Together with two of your 10 published books, I think knitting has become more fun because of your clear instructions. Arne, you are quick but I don't mind, I find it fascinating just to see your experienced hands creating and I love it and knew about the wheel , because I used to teach people older than 50 years how to use a computer, laptop or IPad or other products from the apple brand. That's fun too. 34:04
Thank you so much for this wonderful KAL! I learned so much about knitting color work, Norwegian patterns and the easiest sock heel. You are very generous to offer this stocking for free with all the videos. I knit this for a friend. I hope she likes it as much as I liked knitting it. It was also a lot of fun to 'visit' with you every day. Wishing you both a wonderful holiday season.
It's so sad and wonderful to be so nearly finished! Thanks so much you guys...I always wanted to knit a Christmas stocking, you made my dreams come true!
No rushing this part of the stocking. It took me a bit of time picking up all the stitches...and placing them on the needles. Wow I have learned so much from this MKAL. Thank you! I'm really amazed how nice the stocking is. You have published 84 books.
Super way of doing a heal. Love learning new stuff. Thanks for the- how to- get rid of the holes too. You have 10 marvelous publications. This has been a wonderful kal.
I don't know how many knitters will read this before knitting, or how many are just following the video instead of the pattern for the heel, but Round 2 says to *k5, k2 tog, k1* around. As Arne demonstrates, you are doing the decrease when you have 3 sts left on each DPN, so that equates to *k15, k2 tog, k1* around.
Thank you for your kind gesture of offering this beautiful Xmas stocking for free! I learned to knit watching your podcast Sit and Knit for a bit during the pandemic. I have bought many of your patterns, but being a beginner I don’t feel confident enough to knit a sweater yet, but I WILL. Arne and Carlos have 10 books published and these are great gifts to any knitter. Sending 💞🇨🇦
I learned two new things today! I used to twist my loops back to the correct position ino order to knit in the front. I didn't even think about knitting in the back, it's much more efficient! I like the way you fix the "hole". I get holes when I add a thumb to mittens and just sew them up with tails or scrap yarn. This way is cleaner and I like it. Thank you! You've published 10 books.
A huge THANK YOU for this very fun KAL. As a new colorwork knitter I've found it educational and enjoyable. The only thing is, this stocking will be a gift and I'm sure to get many requests for more knit stockings, I will need more hours in the day to knit them all!! You fellows have have 10 books published, I believe. Keep up the fantastic work.
I sewed in all my ends this afternoon so that when I finish my heel the stocking will be done, I'm not sure yet what colour to do. You do both make good radio presenters, I quite often just listen to you whilst I'm busy doing something else, usually knitting though. 10 books published 📖📖📚
Magic!! So fun to learn this new heel technique. You did a great job of explaining the process. Thanks so much for this gift of a knit along. And for the 10 published books! 👍
I have loved keeping up with this knit along - it’s awesome to have one to coordinate with the one I made last year. This is a much simpler heel so hopefully people are more successful. Thank you thank you thank you. 10 books published
This is so exciting. I'll be knitting later tonight and can't wait. The heel has scared me, but it doesn't look so bad even for a beginner. I bought all of the other stocking patterns yesterday. I believe 10 books.
I’ve watched afterthought heel methods a few times without actually understanding what was being done. Thank you, I finally understand what needs to be done 😊 to pick up the leg of the stitch. 18 books published. Thank you again ARNE and CARLOS for this KAL!! ❤
Love this knit along!!! You are such great designers, teachers, and humans😍 I have been blessed by your patterns, your 10 books and your TH-cam channel over the years. I will hopefully enjoy my completed Christmas Stocking by the 26th🤩 Thank you for your generosity😇
The first sock I ever learnt to knit was the easiest sock in the world. 😊 It was a brilliant confidence builder, and when I first opened up those stitches😬😲 😃I was so excited. It was like magic!!! 😅 Now I prefer the heel flap and gusset (also learnt from you) as it seems to fit my high arches better, but my flattered footed husband is fine with the after thought heel. This knit along has been brilliant again. Thanks so much 👏 👏👏👏 ...10 brilliant books published 🐻❄🤞🐻❄🤞🐻❄🤞
Tusen takk for the technique to close the hole. This will also be very useful for some sweater styles where it is difficult to avoid a small hole in the underarm area. 10 books published and I look forward to more.
Thank you for doing this knit a long this year. I really enjoyed knitting the 6 rows a day. I'm in a bit of a knitting slump and have been beaten up by life lately. This helped a lot. I will hang it proudly with last year's stocking. Yes, the heel is wonky but this year's will remind me why we did the "Easiest Sock in the World" I have not knit that one. I will knit a pair with Arne and Carlos yarn. Thanks for a great memory. Arne and Carlos have published 10 books in 15 different languages.
Thank you so much for another delightful stocking knit-along. I look forward to adding my finished stocking to the Christmas gift basket of handknits for my extended family next month.
10 books! I have been really scared about the heel. However, you make it look so easy! And, you don't put those like me down for not being as "sure" of ourselves! I think I may actually be able to do it! Thank you!!
I’ve learned something new! This is a new heel technique for me. Thank you for the video tutorial as I couldn’t figure out in my head how to do this heel. 10 books published.
10 brilliant books. I hope nobody grumbles at you both - that would be very unkind. Your free knitalong pattern and excellent instructions have been wonderful and it is extremely generous of you to give them to us!
You guys are so totally adorable. Your knit alongs are the best! After 2 years of stockings, I am super comfortable with basic colorwork and learned the after thought heel this year! Thank you! 10 books!
Wow! I did it! Bought one of the patterns from last year because I believe I can do it! All the best for the season - lots of shenanigans in the kitchen and lights in the dark night! You have published 10 books.
I love ur chats as u make everything flow so easily. U have published 10 books. I am definitely going to knit these stockings this year. As u both say it is sooo satisfying when u finish one project to start another. Catch u both tomorrow. MOOSE! MOOSE!! 🫂🫂♥️♥️🦌🦌🐩🐩
Looking forward to trying this new to me heel! Thank you for the clear directions 10 books published. Yesterday you asked when we thought these videos were filmed and I will guess August - because we got to visit your beautiful country in August and it was quite rainy, we still had a wonderful time. Thank you again for doing this free KAL, hope we do another stocking next year.
oh yes -- and thank you for the hint about closing the hole. I think this would work for mittens too, when one is joining the thumb to the hand, right?
I knitted the cuff on the Julefugler while listening to you both this evening, and picked up the stitches on the mystery stocking along and removed the waste yarn I can’t believe these stockings are nearly finished. It’s been such fun. I guess 9 books.
I haven’t been commenting but I have thoroughly enjoyed this knitalong. I did last year’s and was excited to do it again. This heel was new to me, so thank you for all the tips and the 10 books!
This is also called a forethought heel (one you plan ahead for), because a true afterthought is one you don't prepare ahead for. You just knit your tube, then go back and grab stitches above and below a row and actually *_cut_* the row that's in the middle. A little scarier but really not so bad. Thank you for a great knit along, Arne & Carlos! I've really enjoyed it and will love the final stocking when I get this last part finished (and ends woven 😏). 10 published books, 1 sourcebook.
I’m going to try this pattern over the Winter months for next year. I haven’t knitted in a while so I’ll need extra time. I love you guys. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise!
So glad you clarified that trick to close the hole…..I had seen that in one of your videos but for some reason never quite understood it. Now if you have a trick to make the Kitchener stitch easy-peasy I’m all ears!
I love the afterthought heel. Wish I knew it when I first started knitting socks. It is truly my go to. 10 books published. This has been a fun and easy KAL. THANK YOU. ❤❤❤
YAY!!! 10 books published! Love love LOVE this sock! Thank you for your beautiful designs ❤😊 This one and and the Tomte are being mailed off to Amsterdam tomorrow to my two young grandchildren living there.
This is the camera work I love! It is so easy to follow along when the knitting appears on screen the same as in my hands. Well done! Thank you.
Wow! I learned something new! Lifting the leg …and I’ve been knitting 70 years! Proof that we always can learn something new! ( 10 books)
