I would love to read Knit Is For Power. We need a petition! Knitting saved me during a period of mental illness brought on by stress at work. These stories show the power of knitting to heal and support us. Once again, a very inspiring podcast. Proud to be a patron x
Signed up to be a patreon when i was in hospital with heart failure during the aftermath of covid. It was very lonely as i could only have one visitor and knitting was my sane place. I spent two years rehabilitating after open heart surgery and this channel and knitting as a whole helped me focus away from the pain and disintergration of my life and work. I am better now, but have a terminal diagnosis as they can do no more if my heart fails again. Fleece crafts keep me upbeat. Women supporting women through creativity is inspiring. Loved the channel since i started watching before covid and where Andrew was still with you. Never supported anything formally, but this channel and your story is so inspiring and the channel is so well produced, i couldnt not.
What an incredible journey you have had. How wonderful that you have been able to find solace in knitting. I too have had similar experiences and knitting is the way I process, through my hands, the feel of the fibres, the patterns and processing mentally. Well done remaining resilient in the face of such personal challenges.
We have had a traumatic year as a family. At one point, my husband, my sister myself, and my son in law were all in hispital! My husband sadly lost his right leg above knee due to a blood clot. Our faith in Jesus has sustained us, and knitting has kept me busy whilst sitting by his bedside as he underwent four long gruelling operations. I have completed a beautiful 1970s beadspread over 5 months. I love your podcasts. My knitting skills are nowhere as good as yours, but I enjoy looking at your amazing work.
I think its obvious you put tons of time into creating this podcast. It's the most professional one out there. You deserve every subscriber you've got plus many more.
I think your book needs to get out into the world! I too used knitting and crochet to get through an extremely difficult time in my life and continue to use it to provide a constant source of joy in my life. I never know when my life will take a quick turn with a teenage daughter with a disability that has extreme ups and downs. I don’t have any contacts but your book going international and translated to English has my vote! ❤
Thank you so much for a very heart warming and beautiful episode. The final segment with the three of you was particularly healing. Thank you so much to all the book participants for being strong and sharing a very personal life journey. You are an inspiration to everyone.
a heart felt wonderful episode. Knit is for power definitely needs to go international. loved all the designs. congratulations to all involved. Women supporting women, love it!
Hello there beauties!!!! Because of you, today, I purchased KNITTING BOOKS on AMAZON, about 100 euros, kinda 3 to 4 books!!! I really am into stiching, embroidery and knitting these days....I've practiced knitting before, and had a hard time following books, haha!!! But, this time, I'm gonna beat it with you guys!!! TFS
Love this program. I’m very glad to see Tanja Steinbech appearing in the Fruity Knitting. The “Knit is for power” is a inspiring book to ignite people’s daily life when they feel lost or depression. Knitting hand craft is not only a kind of arts but a kind of hands yoga and hands massage, making the body in good benefits movements. Knitting is easy to get learn, and it makes our life full of beautiful and imaginations. Thank you. ❤
Totally agree! In Ep. 145 we interviewed the hand physiotherapist / occupational therapist Regina Sennrich. She also talks about how knitting and crocheting can be great for keeping arthritic fingers mobile and other physiological benefits of knitting. Of course, she also addresses the potential injuries and how to avoid / deal with them.
That was an excellent episode of FK! Thank you so much. Andrea & Madeleine I always enjoy you both. And I learn so much. Madeleine - I also made the Jenny Jacket and loved all the techniques I learned from PK pattern. Your tutorial was excellent and I was there with you - thinking what an ingenious way to do the buttonholes. Melanie - I must say you have SUCH Wonderful Stage Presence! Seeing you describe your knitting and looking at the camera makes me feel like we are friends! You come across so well in video. I attended a LIVE you did on IG with Chad and was able to communicate with you there. Thank you for sharing your time with Andrea & Madeleine because it made such an interesting episode. And Tanja - I loved your inspiration and I think I will be making that blanket wrap soon! Thank you all ladies. BRAVO for a fun episode
Thank you for a wonderful podcast, I loved hearing all the stories and seeing wonderful projects. I sincerely hope that the book Knit for Power does get translated to English, I would love to read such a inspirational piece of literature. Happy Knitting!
Another vote for Knit is for Power to be published in English! Thank you for another excellent high quality episode and all your hard work to make it so! 😘
Another fabulous episode; I have told so many people about your excellent podcast… hopefully you build up your Patreon membership. Congratulations on the instant success with Knit Is Power. I was all ready to order the book and so disappointed to learn it’s not in English. Please let your subscribers know how we can help to make this happen. Keep up the great content and thank you for all that you do in building our knitting community
The attention to detail in making sure that the colours in the area of the market matched the colour of yarn in the piece being shown was not lost on me. Thank you for another lovely episode. ❤
As always your program provides inspiration and beauty. The photo shoot with Madeleine reminded me of the fabulous Mercado de San Miguel in Madrid. Yum! Thank you for sharing Knit is for Power with us. I hope that you are able to find a publisher who understands the reach that your stories would have. And thank you to all of the contributors for participating in such a meaningful project. ❤ from the far west coast of 🇨🇦
Loved this episode! I’ve always loved Melanie Berg’s patterns and have knitted several. Nice to meet a new to me designer - Tanja Steinbach. Thank you to all for sharing your stories.
Another great episode! I am a huge fan of Petite Knit’s buttonband and buttonhole! I completed the Lulu Slipover last year and was so happy with the result. I have not had any knitting mojo for 5 months, as I am going through breast cancer treatment and it’s taken all my mental and physical energy. I hope the mojo returns next year, since I still have a 2nd tough surgery ahead of me, right around Christmas time. I’m looking forward to wanting to knit again! You ladies are wonderful. I’m sorry you’ve all had challenges. It’s a tough world sometimes. Madeleine you’ve had tough times with the loss of your wonderful Dad, along with your Mom dealing with the loss. Wishing you all the best.
The Lulu Slipover is a lovely vest! I hope your knitting mojo returns soon. Wishing you strength and comfort during your treatment, and a smooth and speedy recovery.
Watching this episode has been my Saturday morning treat and how special it turned out to be. I love Melanie Berg’s designs and how strong she is despite her humble and gentle demeanor. I will absolutely purchase the book if it is translated into English and I think it would be a wonderful gift for my knitting friends and family. I encourage people, if this is possible for them, to become a patron as a way to support Andrea and Madeleine. What they generously offer to the knitting community is so enlightening and uplifting to all who watch. I my opinion, the quality of their episodes is unparalleled. Congratulations on another memorable episode.
Such a great and meaningful episode! 👏 A lot of people, including me, can relate to the book. Thank you for inspiring all of us to transform challenges into meaning, connection and joy! 🙏🙂💕🤗
If this book , Knit For Power was printed in English, I would but it. I love this program, but I am unable to knit the complicated designs shown. I would love toknit Tanjas shawl cardigan but as I am in the UK I wouldn't be able to read German instructions. I thoughly loved this program and It was lovely to see you really having fun Andrea. I have followed you from the very beginning and such a blessing to have Madeline work alongside you. Love to you both.xx
I have recently discovered the double button band, and it is just an amazing technique. I can now knit cardigans happily and know that the band will fit perfectly. It so much easier to gauge the distance between buttons as well. Next time I will improve this technique by following Madeleine’s method.
I am so happy to see Melanie Berg and you together again. I always felt you two had a special magic and you could see the mutual admiration. Both of you have been through so much and kept your optimism and zest for creativity and life. I admire both of you so much. I am hoping to get the two books very soon. Madeleine, your tutorial is great! I too missed the northern lights in Fredericton during that time. But I was still basking in the delight of meeting both of you at the festival. Antonia is a lucky friend getting such a beautiful cardigan. Looking forward to seeing the boyfriend sweater. You might want to do one of the Arne and Carlos mini sweaters first on real toothpicks as a joke for Christmas!
Another fun episode, thank you. I love the interaction in each episode after the 'cut' at the end. I think knitting makes me safe to be around people. :) Lovely and therapeutic - AND you also get something to wear or gift. Have so enjoyed it through the years.
Thank you for this episode! As usual it is heartwarming and full of inspiration… and also to see 2 (fellow) German Knitting icons brought a smile to my face. ❤
Congratulations on the book, Andrea! Brava!!! You are so impressive. And it must also feel so good to get high praises from your daughter😍 This was an amazing episode!!!😘
Oh this book sounds so interesting, I hope it gets translated ! :) And your podcast is as always a delight, i learn a lot through it, it gives us different angles and meaning to our beloved craft ! :) Proudly being a patreon of it 💛
Both your new seaters are stunningly beautiful and so well done. Absolutely loved the fashion show. The model makes the sweaters look extra special. Good on you Andrea for stepping up the the writer challenge. Thank you for another wonderful show.
The button band tutorial is very well done and appreciated! I wish that I were bilingual. It was nice to hear Madalyns clarity and seamless transition.
Andrea and Madeline… I have watched your blog from the first episode. Wow! I know you so well and have loved every minute. My favorite might be the tango you and Andrew danced at your wedding. I watch a blog here in the U S that I’m quite sure you’d be interested in. The Island Lamb..Diane lives on Block Island in the state of Rhode Island. She does a wonderful very professional job with her podcast and her knitting is amazing, her content is fun, informative, and landscape beautiful. Enjoy! Priscilla ❤
Thank you Andrea and Madeleine for this very special episode❤ I read the book Knit for Power and found it very touching and encouraging. Thanks for inviting the two amazing German ladies😊
Yes, I would love to read the book in English. The BUTTONHOLE technique is genius. Thank you for the tutorial. I'm knitting a cardigan right now and I'm going to give it a try! And the buttons are a perfect match!
What a wonderful episode. They need to print Knitting is for Power in English so that more people can be helped and also more people can enjoy the book and the patterns.
Vielen Dank für diese bewegende Episode und für den besten deutschen Chanson 🌹🌹🌹 Ich habe mir das Buch schon während dem Ansehen bestellt und freue mich sehr darauf. Glückwunsch an Dich, Andrea ❤
so excited to watch this episode while im working on my leafhoppper by meredith willmott. was rewatching older episodes while patiently waiting for this one. big thanks to you andrea and madeline, youre amazing!
What an inspiring episode. I would also love to read Knit is For Power and it would need to be in English for me as well. Your Jenny Jacket is gorgeous Madeline.
Suzanne Bryan's TH-cam channel has a great tutorial on the Italian bind off, and she explains that one of the reasons for the double-knitted version is to create a little channel that a piece of elastic or ribbon can pass through.
A great episode. I think Knit is for Power would make a really helpful read for many people. Unfortunately I do not speak German and therefore would be unable to read the inspirational chapters. Melanie's designs are amazing . 🇬🇧
If you guys love the Northern Lights you should consider going on one of Arne&Carlos` knitting cruises. They can see Northern Lights many times when cruising the Fjord in Norway. I think they use the Hurtigruten Travels. There are some videos on their channel about the Knitting Cruises they do. 🙂 P.S. Thank you for playing Hildegard Knef. Did you know, that she was a cancer surviver. I grew up with Hildegard Knef on the Hitparade, back in the day. Huggs from the Schurwald, Baden-Württemberg.
Yes, I can imagine the amazing views on their cruises! I didn't know that Hildegard Knef survived cancer. Hello back from Hessen! I went to University in Baden-Württemberg so it has a special place in my heart ;-) Madeleine
Funny, I was also doing the cast off method you were demonstrating on the collar early in the video when it started playing. Not following a pattern, I figured it out for myself as a way to join two sections of my knit and had a pleasant surprise to see it's a real thing! Love coincidences like that, already doing what you're talking about in an episode!
What an awesome podcast, thank you and I do hope they print the book in English. Knitting helped me while visiting my dad the 12 weeks he was in hospital before he passed away, then8 weeks later we lost our mum too. Both knitting and crocheting are therapeutic and helps us get through these difficult times. Have a wonderful weekend ❤❤❤
This was a very nice episode, thank you very much for that. I hope the book will be published in English soon! I also immediately subscribed to support you guys financially. Keep up the good work!
I hope your able to get these books printed in English i would definitely buy it. I personally have lost many loved ones, family members and and friends to Cancer over the years. Green sock idea is wonderful.
I really was surprised today. I started to watch this video while knitting the last round on my sweater. And it is the „do ewe yoke“. Since I missed the last podcasts this came as a complete surprise. It’s really interesting how different these look due to different yarn choices. Anyway it is very nice to knit on a sweater, while you talk about it 😊.
Hi. I've started machine knitting over 2 years. My oh my so much to learn but you can make brilliant things quickly. Have a look at lots of TH-camrs and make your decision. Happy knitting 🎉
Knit for Power is needed in English as book for those who have also been through like happenings in our lives, My husband passed through Cancer and My father had Nephrology disease, knitting helped me through my grief in both times, in the times when I'm sad and feeling down knitting helps in the keeping of the blood pressure in normal range.
Hey GIrls! Long time, no see! So tired of YT antics. I turned off my history and just go to my subscription page and pick what I want to see. Ya'll are doing a lovely job, but I sure miss Andrew! I wish that book was available in English! I don't know a lot about publishing myself. I'm sure you'll let us know if it happens. Love from across the Pond!
The couple of rows of double knitting are necessary because, as you mentioned, the bind off is essentially a graft, i.e. a Kitchener stitch. It's a bit cumbersome on a small sleeve circumference but on the hem of the cardigan, in order to avoid the awkward step of inserting your darning needle from back to front in between stitches etc, you can put all the knit stitches on one needle, and all the purl stitches on another, which you hold in the back. Then just graft as you would normally.
Thank you so much for another informative and inspiring episode. 💕 Please be sure to let us know when (only positive thoughts) it will be available in English. I have a knitting community library that needs this book!
I would love to read Knit Is For Power. We need a petition! Knitting saved me during a period of mental illness brought on by stress at work. These stories show the power of knitting to heal and support us. Once again, a very inspiring podcast. Proud to be a patron x
Knit Is For Power should be available for every knitter around the world. Hope it will be published in English soon. ❤️🇺🇸

Knitting helped me while visiting my dad the 12 weeks he was in hospital before he passed away, then8 weeks later we lost our mum too. Both knitting and crocheting are therapeutic and helps us get through these difficult times. Have a wonderful weekend ❤❤❤
Love it all
This was a very nice episode, thank you very much for that. I hope the book will be published in English soon! I also immediately subscribed to support you guys financially. Keep up the good work!
Your purple sweater is simply gorgeous!

Wonderfully inspiring episode
Can’t wait to see what you will bring us for your 150th celebration.
A beautiful episode. Thank you. I also hope Knit is for Power will be published in English.
Thank you! For all your work on great podcasts. Lately something has changed and there are a lot more commercials than on other podcasts?
Lovely to hear Hidegard Knef, I read her autobiography (The Gift Horse) , a long time ago, such a fascinating courageous person
such a beautiful colours for the sweaters
Hi. I've started machine knitting over 2 years. My oh my so much to learn but you can make brilliant things quickly. Have a look at lots of
TH-camrs and make your decision.
Wonderful podcast. I hope the book will get published in English. I would like to read it.
Please pass on the request for an English translation of the new book!!!!!
