Lucky you so far I have spent 2 hours fighting with it am about to give up till this weekend and just remove the truck bed…. hopefully that will help make it easier
@@RBoysMedia I finally got the top one by removing the bed but sadly removing the bed did not help with the fitting between the tank and the fuel cooler I ended up unbolting the fuel cooler to get it out of the way (two 10mm bolts ) and using a small pipe cutter to cut the fitting off the hard line the factory line was destroyed but If I ever go back to stock I will just put in a new fuel line
Great video! Easy install and great camera angles, thank you! Will be my next investment. I drive back and forth to Foley, AL, once a month, fill a 90 gallon bed tank-tool box and my 34 gallon on the 2004 crew dually LLY that just turned over 70,000 miles on the way back, averaged 22.2 mpg, pumped the truck tank full when I got home and had an inch left in the big tank, not too shabby for colder weather. I know you don't need hose clamps...but that would drive me bananas, I'll have to clamp!
I have an lmm crew cab dually long bed, for easier access to the fitting on the top of the tank disconnect the drive shaft from the carrier bearing and rear axle. Way less of a hassle than picking up the bed or dropping the fuel tank if you dont have all the right tools. @truck master
Picked up an air dog and the instructions were difficult to understand. Look up install and found your video. Next day I installed it without looking at directions and was done in an hour. Thank you so much !
Hey truck master, i installed this lift pump yesterday on my 2005 lly duramax. I used your video which helped alot but the engine has a totally different tone at idle and it has a loping sound to it which it never had before. Im gunna check the fuel pressure next, but do you have any idea why it is doing that?
Great video! I would add that the most difficult connection to the tank top can be simplified by using a male bundy to hose bib 1/2" adapter to make the tank connection to the existing hose. It makes the install much easier.
My top of the tank connection was a bit of a pain also when I installed mine, I took the left over hose section and cut it into like 3" sections and split it and then put it over the fuel lines with zip ties anywhere it was close to the frame or body to give it extra protection
Great install I found unbolting the bed and propping up the front definitely helps make it easier for getting those lines on top of the tank rest was piece of cake ..
Another way to get at the fuel line on the top of the tank is to remove the bed bolts on the drivers side and loosen the ones on the passenger side, then tilt the bed and secure it. If the line has never been taken off, even with the correct line release tool it takes some maneuvering to get it to release. Good choice with the Air Dog, the behind the frame rail hidden mount is the only way to go in my opinion. Great job with the videos!

Got the quick connect fittings with my Kennedy diesel pumps. Found the easiest way to attach them was to measure your line twice cut once and then roll out from under the truck and go to the work bench and lube the hoses up and push them on placing the face of the fitting on a flat solid surface and pushing till the hose hits the upper shoulder... I saw a couple fittings truck master did that weren't on on the way....

I ordered the 165-5G for my 2010 Duramax. I have had two fuel related failures [loss of pressure while towing up a hill, and bad fuel contaminating the stock filter], and I hope this pump will eliminated those in the future. Unfortunately, I am in Canada and it's January...so I won't be able to install it until spring. That's OK though, the truck sits in the garage all winter anyway.

very good video and great to see the attention to detail on line removal as well the use of safety stands under the truck when you used the floor jack to get it higher. Great note on fuel line removal as I have as well had a tough time on some of the fuel lines.
Off topic. Wife put a few gallons of gasoline into my 2004.5 GMC 3500 lly duramax from my spare generator fuel tank, today. She realized it was gas before she even turned the key to activate the fuel pump. Can you share a video on how to drain the fuel tank. I have a Fass fuel pump system on it.
Old video I know. But I’m hoping to find out the best GPH lift pump for my truck. What do you recommend for my 2003 LB7. 100% stock. Only reason I want to install is to get more life out of my injectors. And hopefully it will give the truck better response on the pedal. Should I get the 95 or the 165? I watched a video you put out about too much PSI on the fuel system caused by to much GPH. I don’t want to wreck my truck. I plan to keep my truck stock for now. Just bought my truck a year ago. Has 550000km (341000 miles) on it. It’s in really good shape for that many. I only want to ad life to it. I will haul some trailers periodically. But nothing constant. Thanks in advance.
Easy to follow not descriptive enough. That 1/4 line that’s adjacent to the fuel line above the fuel cooler grid needs to be removed other wise you tug on both.

Man... my disconnect fittings refused to come off. I ended up cutting everything off. Bought metal disconnect tools and they still refused to budge. Rust belt truck. Prior oil field LBZ with 240k on it. Now my daily and bathed in salt bs in the winter. But another thing I like about the AirDog is that it’s almost protected being inside the frame and not being sprayed by the tires. And I just let the pump prime itself. It’ll purge as it’s designed to. I just checked the bleed screw on the top of the filter housing under the hood.
Just added one to my truck. Thanks for the video it was super helpful. I had different connectors on my tank and my fuse box was different but all in all pretty simple. My trucks 2010.5 so I think that's why it was a bit different. I had plastic connectors that I needed to pop the clip on with a flat head screwdriver.
Yeah im having a hard time with the fuel lines my connections look a little different than on yours mine have like red looking covers on the connection it's kinda confusing.

Had to pull my tank down for two reasons , first could not get two hands on the connection above the tank and my fill tube is has a hard plastic pipe running in the middle of the fill hose. !!! F my life 🤣 I have a 2002 Duramax LB7.
jbhuskiA4 disconnect the filler hose from both ends & pull the whole thing out, it will make it easier to cut as well. The inner tube goes into the tank about 10”

Quick question...when placing this it seems that the top of the plate rubs the steel brake line that runs along the frame. Any concerns with that? Any experiences with wear on that line? I'm tempted to just release the clips in front of and behind the pump placement to ensure that line isn't under pressure or put a strip of rubber up there to pad the line. 06 LLY

Hey friend, I have a chevrolet duramax 2007 6.6 I don't know anything about those vehicles but it marks me low pressure, what I see is that the diesel does not go up where the filter is, these trucks have 2 pumps or I need one of those that you put on it to your truck? I can get a used or a new one that you recommend
I’ve had my air dog sitting in my room on the shelf for roughly 3 months dreading the install and here it is winter time and after watching the video and seeing how easy this is I’m ready to go get under the salt and snow covered truck for a bath to install it🤣 you make pretty swell videos my friend I’ve watched a few just for shigs n gigs like the one you were stranded in🤣 keep up the quality bud.

Same problem. The fuse seems to keep busting. It's a 2 amp fuse. Not sure what is meant for it but I replace with a 5amp. Not sure if that's OK. Check your fuse to begin with
Appreciate the video this one helped guide me on my air dog lift pump install in my LB7. My question now is how did you get that updated grille on there? I couldn’t tell if it was the front end swap or not on the white lb7. Any info would be much appreciated!
The lb7 duramax engine was put in the trucks until 2004, in 2004.5 the lly was put in. The front clip design was changed in 2003 to the new style, so 2003 and 2004 duramaxes had the lb7 engine with the "cateye" front clip. Im assuming that the white duramax is one of those two years.
If the lift pump goes down or wire comes loose or any malfunction does the truck stop running or is it possible that the lift pump lets the truck run as before when it had no lift pump?
@@TruckMaster It would be good though if it had a solenoid or a bypass control that would allow the fuel to directly pull from the tank to the front filter and to the CP4 or CP3 pump so you will not be stranded, sort of like a limp mode to get you or your family back in. And you wouldn't be straining the injector pump from getting fuel due to a malfunction of the lift pump. Sorry friend it's just my mechanical engineering background that tends to get the best of me but I have made big companies big money even on the easiest solutions that fixed big problems for aftermarket companies of Toyota and die and big press machinery from Italy.
When I installed my 165 I didn’t crack the filter to bleed the air out. Yes it makes complete sense to do that but I believe in the install directions it’s says there is no need to. Everything filled and fired right up! I was impressed and very happy with the pump!

Except the PSI of the airdog made the fuel pump gasket leak making me more work yes that I noticed the difference 😂👎🏾 it’s a placebo effect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the step by step, I'm going to install the lift pump on my Kodiak C5500 (RV Chassis). The 80-gallon fuel tank is about 25 feet from the motor, so I might have to add longer wires and get a little creative mounting the pump to the larger frame.

That's why I went with Airdog too.. very easy install, better mounting system, and quiet compared to fass. 130k on my Airdog and no problems.

That 1/2 line on top of the tank is about the worse part of the install. My poor neighbors had to listen to me for about 15 min cussing it out lol
i switched to a 3/8 just for the hell of it and it popped right off

I was using a 1/2 tool but after an hour of fighting I think it’s because mine is shorter than in the video. AutoZone got me once again

@@wadecook7888 more than likely your fuel pressure is too high. There is an adjustment screw to make sure it is correct.

Question to the forum, with this kit do you remove the existing fuel primer pump at the motor? Or do you keep it installed?

Truck Master, Is it recommended to still use the main fuel filter when you add the aftermarket lift pump or to use filter delete.
It’s your call I personally deleted mine but either way it won’t hurt anything to run all of them

Fass lift pump seem to have a better installation process hoses hook up easier and my even be quieter operation

I have different fuel pump module I have a smaller return line connection on the left and a larger feed line on the right

When I installed my fass pump I didn’t have to remove the line on top of fuel tank. Fass provided the fitting to reuse the line you took off.

I removed the bed of the truck, 8 bolts, 3 for filler tube, 2 wire harnesses to disconnect for each of the taillights.

You did it wrong, you're supposed to see the bottoms of the filters from the outside.... lmao

Resolved by cutting a section of spare tubing and wrapping it around the line to protect it where it sits tucked above the bracket for the airdog.
I have a 6.5’ sierra…I can’t see the tank top. Should I drop the tank to access?

Hey friend, I have a chevrolet duramax 2007 6.6 I don't know anything about those vehicles but it marks me low pressure, what I see is that the diesel does not go up where the filter is, these trucks have 2 pumps or I need one of those that you put on it to your truck? I can get a used or a new one that you recommend

I’ve had my air dog sitting in my room on the shelf for roughly 3 months dreading the install and here it is winter time and after watching the video and seeing how easy this is I’m ready to go get under the salt and snow covered truck for a bath to install it🤣 you make pretty swell videos my friend I’ve watched a few just for shigs n gigs like the one you were stranded in🤣 keep up the quality bud.
What do you do with the factory lift pump? Does it stay on?

Same problem. The fuse seems to keep busting. It's a 2 amp fuse. Not sure what is meant for it but I replace with a 5amp. Not sure if that's OK. Check your fuse to begin with

Appreciate the video this one helped guide me on my air dog lift pump install in my LB7. My question now is how did you get that updated grille on there? I couldn’t tell if it was the front end swap or not on the white lb7. Any info would be much appreciated!
The lb7 duramax engine was put in the trucks until 2004, in 2004.5 the lly was put in. The front clip design was changed in 2003 to the new style, so 2003 and 2004 duramaxes had the lb7 engine with the "cateye" front clip. Im assuming that the white duramax is one of those two years.

It’s your call you can keep it or delete it. Most guys keep the stock housing

If the lift pump goes down or wire comes loose or any malfunction does the truck stop running or is it possible that the lift pump lets the truck run as before when it had no lift pump?
No one he truck runs back to stock if the pump stops working
@@TruckMaster It would be good though if it had a solenoid or a bypass control that would allow the fuel to directly pull from the tank to the front filter and to the CP4 or CP3 pump so you will not be stranded, sort of like a limp mode to get you or your family back in. And you wouldn't be straining the injector pump from getting fuel due to a malfunction of the lift pump. Sorry friend it's just my mechanical engineering background that tends to get the best of me but I have made big companies big money even on the easiest solutions that fixed big problems for aftermarket companies of Toyota and die and big press machinery from Italy.
When I installed my 165 I didn’t crack the filter to bleed the air out. Yes it makes complete sense to do that but I believe in the install directions it’s says there is no need to. Everything filled and fired right up! I was impressed and very happy with the pump!
That makes sense because it seems the air will be purged through the recirculation side.
I won't make that mistake again.

Except the PSI of the airdog made the fuel pump gasket leak making me more work yes that I noticed the difference 😂👎🏾 it’s a placebo effect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the step by step, I'm going to install the lift pump on my Kodiak C5500 (RV Chassis). The 80-gallon fuel tank is about 25 feet from the motor, so I might have to add longer wires and get a little creative mounting the pump to the larger frame.
