Good review. Flat EQ is a nice touch for a demo. I have this model, and this is exactly how the P-90e pickups sound without adjustment-very much on the dark side. You can get great sounds by dialing less mids and a lot more treble on the amp, but for a demo I think it’s great to hear the instrument’s intrinsic sound.
I have to admit that the dark sound of this guitar disappoints me a bit. It certainly does not have the P90 bite I was expecting. It also sounds very closed in and compressed, which is another frustration. I am still working with it, but I do find it annoying to have to wildly adjust amp settings just to use this guitar. Im wondering if some Gibson P90's might waken it up a bit or maybe different value pots...annoying because it is a LOVELY guitar to play (not to mention stare at!).
Fantastic video, this exactly represents how this guitar sounds., kind of dark and very compressed. See my other comments below about that... BUT I wanted to congratulate you for showing this guitar honestly. I have subscribed :)
I apprecaite it! Fantastic instrument, one of my favorites we featured on the channel this year. - Glad to know that they way the guitar was presented is true to it's intrinsic sound.
This is a beautiful guitar but I struggle to believe it to sound that muddy. I know P90s and I can tell that they are less bright than a tele single coil, of course but not like this. Something must have gone wrong with the EQ here. Just my 0,02$
Nothing wrong with the EQ. We record everything with a flat eq so that listeners can get reference to the natural tone of the guitar’s electronics. Could try it with an amp that uses EL34s instead of 6L6s to get a brighter tone.
@ thank you for the response. In the meantime I have watched a couple of videos and read some reviews about this item and the takeaway seems to be that this is indeed a very dark sounding guitar. That’s fine, if it’s fine for you, of course. But it certainly isn’t my cup of 🫖
@@naftade Just to confirm it is exactly as played in this video. I have one and experience the same frustrations. II'm keeping it because it plays and looks stunning, so hopefully I'll find the magic bullet, pickups or pot values etc.
Very nice. A beautiful guitar as all Gretsches are.
Love the colour is phenomenal ❤😊

@@dansmusicdemo yeah turning up thr treble adds a bit if that gretsch bite back. Never going to be a fidelitron but can get a similar sound.

Gretsch hits another one out of the park!
This guitar has a very acoustic sound to it in the clean settings. Nice!
Lovely guitar. They make great guitars. Classy..sounds great.
