    Maybe a vacuum gauge to see if there was any flutter from slightly leaking or sticky valves, then a leak down test on 1, 3 and 5 for comparison. but the known roller faults suggested sounds possible. Say goodbye to Chrysler.

    I would like to have a look at those roller rockers and the cam lobes on cylinder #3. These engines are known for problems with the needle bearings on the rollers.
    Just a guess, but the problem seems like something internal and mechanical.
    Was there any ticking noise that preceded this misfire?

      Through these comments, I'm disliking Chrysler more and more. Len, this truck ran so quiet, but the misfire was not like a misfire where you could tell it was a MISFIRE, it was there, but faint.

    Earlier 3.6L engines had valve seat and guide problems. The valve seat misalignment often caused misfires. Chrysler reported that they fixed these problems in the later versions, but the jury is still out on that. Good video --

      That is some good knowledge to know right there, THANKS!

      IIRC there is an extended warranty on these heads -- P0302, and maybe 03/04 may be the indicator. Have customer check with their dealership. There are now several iterations of cylinder heads -- to address this problem

    I remember back in the days going to auto mechanic school we used to have a old-timer teacher he used to tell us one Dolla of diesel into the gas tank and that it will clean the valves

      HE'S 100% RIGHT!! The same goes for kerosene. Not sure if they still have it, but there was a product called "Engine Flush". Leave it in your RUNNING engine for 5 minutes, then drain the oil. That product was, or still is, kerosene based!

    This is a very unique issue. Tim do you have a boroscope camera ?It might be worth looking inside that cylinder. Some cameras have a mirror on the end to look up at the valves. Or maybe a gouge on the cyl wall. Is there a part 3?

    • @OnlineAutoRepairVideos
      @OnlineAutoRepairVideos  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Victor, I do have one, and it has the small mirror, but the quality SUCKS!!!

    Tim , what does the computer see in order for it to set a misfire code? What criteria has to be met ? Maybe that will help you see the problem.

    • @OnlineAutoRepairVideos
      @OnlineAutoRepairVideos  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Victor, I'm going to go with if it sees a number of misfires within a given time, it will set.

    wouldn't a mechanical problem be their all the time hot/cold and every time ?

    • @OnlineAutoRepairVideos
      @OnlineAutoRepairVideos  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We spoke to the customer and he did say that he felt the misfire when it's cold. Another thought is metal expands, so what if the valve guide is expanding when the vehicle warms up which would make the gap larger (valve seat) causing the misfire to be more pronounced when the vehicle warms up.

    hello I have been looking on the internet for the answer to my question and was wondering if you could answer it for me. I have a 2003 Dodge neon and it like to loose power as you are driving, its been getting worse. We replaced the cam sensor, worked good for a month then started again then got worse. My uncle thinks the choke might be too tight or needs cleaned, but he doesn't know if it has one... any ideas? I live on a very low budget, I am lucky to has $100.00 after bills each month, winter's lower than that

      @@WickedSimmer If the check engine light is on while you are driving, there will be a code in the ecm. If you are using something that is not pulling the code, try to take it to a local auto parts store that does this for free
