So excited to be done with Fox airing Nascar races for the season. Hatvick has done great, Bowyer is goofey and occasionally annoying but fine, and of course Mike Joy and Larry Mcreynolds are great the pproblem seems to be the producers. At one point there was a 20 sec shot of grass shown to the tv audience. Several points where the announcers are reacting to action on the track that's not being shown to the audience. So frustrating.
There is a thread rn on Reddit about Fox. Also, the thread about Chastain and Busch has things about what Fox missed today. Their coverage is really bad imo. I watched one Indycar race this year and I was engaged because the commentary was exciting and the production was actually showing everything that happened during the race. Mike has lost his edge, but his legacy is always going to be one of the GOATs (very Johnson like rn), Kevin just did not do it for me when he kept going after Bowyer, and Clint is just meh. I am so glad they took away his clowning around during the race for the most part. Fox could literally be stunting NASCAR growth for the next decade after the Netflix series momentum and I don't really know if any new fans stayed to watch kids in the stands, full screen ads, and a booth taking shots at one another and not enthusiastic about the racing. Fox is a real problem and I celebrated the end of them covering Xfinity.
Harvick taking shots at Bowyer is weird AF and bad look for the sport. Banter is good but this is just Harvick being a complete knobend with superiority complex.
AJ Allmendinger has 4 top 15 finishes this year (in 5 races). Rest of Kaulig Racing has 2 combined (2 from Daniel Hemric). When do we admit that Kaulig has just been propped up by Allmendinger all these years? The man has both their cup wins and 16 of their 20 non-plate track wins in the Xfinity series too (Chandler Smith and Kyle Larson last year and SVG's last two wins being the other 4).
SVG has 10 top 15 finishes in Xfinity. Surely hes holding his own atleast in that respect. Its the guys first year. Could possibly have been 3 race wins with COTA going his way.
I was out at the race and honestly having the first half be caution filled and have some restarts, not let the field get strung out, was actually really fun to see. The 2nd half, being able to see the strategies ACTUALLY play out, was insanely fun. IMO I think depending on how Watkins Glen goes, I would like to see Sonoma up the schedule in the west coast swing(talked to AJ Allmendinger friday and he said the same thing) or even see it move later and see it as an early playoff race to shake things up. I'd say one of the better sonoma races I've seen, I've also been going for 20 years since i was a child so that carries a little weight
If Busch doesn’t get spun, he probably runs out of fuel after getting the checkers and gets a top 5. The fuel used to light up the tires during the spin and get going again killed him.
Harvick i feel saved the booth this year. Yes Mike is good but adding harvick was the best move they could have made. the insight to the car was very useful
Can we talk about how RFK has had a car finish in the top 3 the last 6 races (if you include the All Star Race. I mean talk about consistency, then again they’re both around 10th-15th so not the best points wise, but there a genuine championship 4 threat if they keep this up
well they threw a caution at the end of the race for Truex, i wonder if kyle busch was in 12th when the caution came out, freezing the field b4 he got passed by 5 more people.
Eric, Idk how you can be as generously critical of Fox's coverage this season. I would certainly be not nearly as generous on their production and direction coverage, especially since I haven't been a fan of Fox in general for a few years now. To me, Fox just sees NASCAR as another host to make money and nothing more than that (which I know is the point of the TV networks). (However) It's like Fox treats NASCAR as a way of marketing first before the viewer's enjoyment and not the other way around. And clearly, it seems like I am not the only one who expresses that frustration.
There are a couple of drivers in the NASCAR Xfinity race I want to give shout out to BORIS SAID what he said in the interview about Greg Biffle & Shane van Gisbergen earns back to back wins and first career pole
Great race. I was impressed with the on track product. Fox...oh Fox... Mike Joy is overall great, glad he will be around. Harvick is good as well. Bowyer I dont feel fits very well, and the back and forth can be a bit much. I think Regan Smith is great, as well as the rest of the reporters. I actually have really enjoyed Daniel Suarez being in the booth as well. He is great as a driver analyst in the way hes able to paint a picture for the viewer, alomst like a behind the scenes look. Unfortunately a lot of fans bring his accent up and are not welcoming to that. I also enjoyed the other drivers theyve had rotate in the booth. I think Fox does have a good thing with that for Xfinity series, mostly. My god though, the broadcast. Thank god the onboard cameras dont have a zoom, because Fox would surepy telescope the hell out of it. I dont understand why they CONSTANTLY zoom in and out, even within the same shot constantly. They are slow(if they even address it) to react to requests from the broadcasters to view something.. they dont show full replays or jusy show a short clip from a bad angle as they go to break. Like id rather see multiple replay's, or an interview with a driver that wrecked or their crew, over some B roll footage that they dont seem to ever cut away from when things happen (and that theu seem to cut to JUST as action picks up ans we get stuck with side by side). Those were thing that back in the day were reserved for the pre race show, practice or rain delays.. not the race. Whats disappointing is that these issues have been VERY publicly addressed now for a few years, and Fox hasn't even seemed to try to address it. In fact, it almost at times seems like they are doing it purposely. I hope they right that ship, if not, I really hope NASCAR can findnsome way to address it
Feel like you missed mentioning Joey Logano. He looked super in the first stage, until their strategy call put them in the wrong place for the wreck. Ford is so back. I wonder if the recovery from the spin used the precious last bit of fuel for Kyle Busch. Accelerating from zero is the least efficient driving.
The Old Ross showed up today. He has been walking on eggshells ever since he got into Kyle Larson and Rick Hendricks made his remarks. Go to see Old Ross.
Yea I know what you’re saying. I believe he’s one of the best in the field but since the Darlington ‘23 he’s been off. Seems to run almost too conservative, I’ve noticed that he misses out on 1-2 spots on the last lap at the end of some the races, but also at the same time I think that he is out driving his equipment. Gotta be a weird position for him to not be in a top tier ride like Gibbs or Hendrick and have those over him pretty much telling him how to drive.
Personally, after being at the track with exclusive access I can say this was a great race. I’ve been attending since 2017 and this race had everything from strategy racing to a bit of silly cautions. Thankfully the final stage was straightforward and we got a great three way battle. Getting to see this from the PRN booth was an unforgettable experience and I even had a chance to shake Mike Joys hand. While we all can dunk on FOX and their coverage, just remember all the history and life that Joy brings to this sport.
Another great review, Eric, good job. Fox coverage just lacks energy. Like watching Golf😂. Really gonna miss Race Hub. That is where the real energy is.
That was only because he got held up by the Busch. Still finished 5th. Not a bad day. You notice nobody is complaining about chase doing so either. It's the last lap. You can use a bumper or fender to pass if you're close enough. It's how it's meant to be done.
That's not gonna happen. He was having a good day and just because Chastain was a complete idiot today isn't gonna make him retire. Kyle Busch is still an extremely talented driver.
Kudos on calling out Fox. I'm truly a Fox guy, if you know what I mean, however, their race coverage is woefully sub par... producer /director have NO clue how to broadcast a race.
I’m less inclined to give Busch the benefit of the doubt. Man’s been a menace the last few weeks and got it back. Meanwhile, Chastain had the third best car on the track and put on a clinic. Reddick had the faster car but just couldn’t get through traffic. It feels disingenuous to dismiss what would have been hailed as return to form for any other driver because of an overcooked corner.
A lot of these YT videos of post race reviews have been trashing Chastain over and over during the video because of that corner. Had over 1300 corners in a race and one bad corner and people acting like this was worse than Busch wrecking Stenhouse. Just wish they’d come out and just say they don’t like Ross
still love Mike Joy. Harvick was better than expected while Boyer was... well... Boyer. your comments about production were spot-on, Eric. watched the SkyNews F1 broadcast right beforehand and the differences were jarring. CW and Amazon Prime joining the coverage next season will hopefully bring improvement.
Ever since that championship in 2022 being a Logano fan has been rough. Bad luck and slow cars galore. I’m not even surprised he got caught up in some else’s mess again 🤦♂️. He might have the worst luck in cup rn this is getting ridiculous 😭😭
Fox's Nonstop commercials has me thankful of other ways to watch the race! NASCAR's app is way better to view when not at the track! In 2022 Vibes, Christopher finished 9th and Denny 36th! Crew Chiefs need to rewatch the Road Course races last few years, never throw your drivers and cars out of a top 10 run early for strategy. Backfires almost 90% of the time. Hurt Logano, Christopher and many others that great cars!! 👍💯
I watched the IndyCar race. As a dual IndyCar/NASCAR fan, I had to choose between the two. And then I went to main NBC for IndyCar. Everything felt serious. Granted, there were problems, I.E. full screen commercials under green flag laps, but all in all, I enjoyed the coverage. After (spoiler alert) Will Power won (spoiler alert), I tuned into NASCAR just in time to see Buescher win the 2nd segment. Immediately afterwards was a cringe ass Wendy's Commercial and the happiness I felt after watching IndyCar was sucked out of me. EVERYTHING about Fox's coverage from the moment I tuned in to the end was just everything wrong with NASCAR on Fox compounded into 55 laps. - Was anyone aware that Harrison Burton got hooked by Chase Elliott? No? That's because Fox didn't show it. The ONLY reason I know it is because I had the online stream of PRN radio coverage on. - Did anyone watching know that William Byron had an issue? No? You wouldn't have known if you weren't paying attention to social media. Yeah. Social Media. - Real great camera work going to a shot of the back bumper of the 17 car... WHEN NOBODY WAS BEHIND HIM! - Let's go on the back bumper Kyle Larson while he battles with Hemric... and THEN cut to ANOTHER angle where then, and only AFTER the camera cut, we all find out they're three wide with McDowell - Why yes, we totally need to see Noah Gragson spinning again... that spin happened ages ago and NOW we're headed to commercial break. - Blaney's pitting! Now is a good time to actually swap over to a side by side where we show Blaney in one box and Elliott in the other... they cut to Chase Elliott AND THEN they do the side by side box instead of immediately going to the side by side box. - Why, yes, viewers at home totally need to see the "tailgate kings" according to Fox. This was coming out of a full screen ad break, mind you. You won't be shocked to know I didn't care. I don't watch NASCAR racing to see who the "tailgate kings" are. I watch NASCAR to watch THE ACTUAL ON TRACK - Why yes, we TOTALLY should go to commercials during green flag runs... *FULL SCREEN ADS*. AND during crucial moments of the race. Why yes, we TOTALLY need a "Toyota all out segment" that cuts another 2 minutes away from the on track action. OH, BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE. Let's run a side by side ad break inside 10 laps to go! And that's just the problems I CAN remember. I'm sure there are other problems that I missed!
Huge fan Eric. I think you're a bit low on the meter, probably closer to 75 - 80. Just one humble opinion, but as always, you have a great wrap up, and a fantastic show. Happy Sunday to you. Be well, be safe.
I think you're being a bit harsh on Ross. He definitely would have made that corner. He barely touched Busch, who he had tracked down from like 5 seconds back in the closing laps and had fresher tires. We dont know that Kyle didn't stumble on low fuel pressure, setting up a situation Ross wasn't ready for. Also, busch could have lifted and finished better depending on how he coasted when he ran out. It was a last lap pass that was going to happen. I'm just irritated it slowed Ross enough to let elliot get by.
As for FOX… prepare for any future coverage to be much much worse. They have now cut nearly every nascar specific employee. All that will be left is the remote from track people such as directors/eps/camera/engineers. And then on the employee side a few content producers and graphics people who aren’t invested in nascar whatsoever. When I was there for several years, daily we would have to have graphics fix stats because I (a camera guy) was catching the typos or inaccurate stats.. there is no care to detail… ok the track side of things it’s the same director and camera crew they’ve had for years, and some of those people are aging out in my opinion.. but todays race cut was utterly unacceptable!! They had multiple cuts to nothing and so much coverage not following the racing….
Me and my dad were suprised Shane Van Gisbergen didn't run the Cup race at Sonoma. I'm sure he would've done great if he ran the Cup race at Sonoma and would've gave Cam Waters and Will Brown a run for their Money
I like that the best car won and wasn't screwed out of it by a late race caution. So often the leader with 5 to go, and clearly the dominant car, gets taken out by a late race over aggressive restart. It seemed like for a while every road course was decided this way.
Another thing that bothers me with FOX is their use of split screens. They’ll interview a driver in the infield but they’ll put the interview on the bigger screen and the race action gets the smaller screen. And they’ll cut away from race action completely and show a drivers stats full screen. When you have green flag racing, it shouldn’t get pushed aside completely or even get the smallest screen when it goes to split screen when it’s not a commercial break. Just stuff like that shows how they are getting out of touch broadcasting nascar
It was Sears Point for a very long time. Then for a short while it was Golden State International Raceway. People still called it Sears Point and the name returned. Then Infineon, Then Sonoma. It's SEARS POINT as far as I'm concerned, always will be.

@@vapinbachelor289 they should use the side-by-side video screens ("double box") for race action and not just commercials
To many commercials on Fox as it’s almost unwatchable.
@@outfield1988 You've obviously never watched NBC!,
There is a thread rn on Reddit about Fox.
My thoughts exactly 👍
Exactly
And “IF a frog had wings he wouldn’t “bust his ass” every time he landed””! 😂😂 2 quotes who said that?
My feelings as well. Him spining around did mean using extra fuel. It's a shame they didn't fight afterwards though.
I survived FOX Sports’s coverage of NASCAR in 2024 and all I got was this….
nothing
Yeet?
Must have missed what you got. There was a commercial
All I got was a commercial…
All I got from FOX was Yota has a new pace car, Joy must be getting a healthy paycheck from Yota, hope it's in Yen
FOX is infinitely better than NBC. Enjoy having to pay extra to see pre-race, post-race, and qualifying.
my friend you genuinely have such a great nascar show on this channel. showed my dad ur channel now hes hooked
So where did kb finish, 12th or 17th?
@@jeffreybennett8893Nascar has him scored at 12th
Also Austin Green with a top-five in the third Jordan Anderson entry (#32) in just his third start.
You can tell by the on board camera that Chastain’s tires did lock up.
That’s what happens when you slam your foot on the brake.
I hope they right that ship, if not, I really hope NASCAR can findnsome way to address it
Love the vid. Great review, Eric. Enjoy the week. Hopefully, it’s full of silly season updates!
Yep! I'm pissed at Fox for not covering the Bush, Chastain deal.
No one wants to admit he was actually the best car until the fumble on the pit strategy
Both my drivers had engine issues today. First Leclerc in the Canadian GP then Hamlin. Glad I don't play the lotto.
I remember Kyle Bush getting out of the car after winning a race and telling the whole crowd they were all crybabies
Another great review, Eric, good job. Fox coverage just lacks energy. Like watching Golf😂. Really gonna miss Race Hub. That is where the real energy is.
Race lived up to the poor expectations at first but I was surprised by how good it got later. Really pleasantly surprised.
Chase Elliott sure didn’t less Ross get away with what he did to Busch. Aggressively moved him in the final turn for a top 5.
Yeah got bush held him up cost him his two second over Elliot to begin with. Duh.
That was only because he got held up by the Busch. Still finished 5th. Not a bad day.
You notice nobody is complaining about chase doing so either. It's the last lap. You can use a bumper or fender to pass if you're close enough. It's how it's meant to be done.
Denny blowing a engine right off the bat made my weekend. I'm happy with the race after that.
money shift
No it didn’t
Made my week that was perfect
When Denise is struggling......I'm grinning like a possum eat'n shit
Man I can’t wait for the uproar and flood of tears after he wins the championship this year
You nailed it with your comments on Fox. They seemed almost unprofessional!
Almost??? Well they get paid to throw that crap on the air so I guess technically you are correct.
Kyle Busch’s career ship has sailed and after being torpedoed today, his ship has run aground. I see retirement on the horizon.
That's not gonna happen. He was having a good day and just because Chastain was a complete idiot today isn't gonna make him retire. Kyle Busch is still an extremely talented driver.
I still call it Sears Point because that track name is from my favorite nascar video game Nascar Beat the Heat 2002

No boring single file silliness today!
Completely agree with you on the Fox coverage! Great race!
@@mattshade8472 I've been hard on him myself from time to time. Lord knows he's earned it with some of his antics. But this time? Nah.
I appreciate your honesty Eric about Fox.
still love Mike Joy.
Love seeing Hamlin struggle. Always puts s smile on our faces.
- Let's go on the back bumper Kyle Larson while he battles with Hemric... and THEN cut to ANOTHER angle where then, and only AFTER the camera cut, we all find out they're three wide with McDowell
- Why yes, we totally need to see Noah Gragson spinning again... that spin happened ages ago and NOW we're headed to commercial break.
I watch NASCAR to watch THE ACTUAL ON TRACK
- Why yes, we TOTALLY should go to commercials during green flag runs...
Your stop motion videos were my childhood ❤
Huge fan Eric. I think you're a bit low on the meter, probably closer to 75 - 80. Just one humble opinion, but as always, you have a great wrap up, and a fantastic show. Happy Sunday to you. Be well, be safe.
Had such a good day watching the JGR drivers! 😂
Totally agree with your criticism of Fox. They have been going downhill. Eliminating Racehub
makes zero sense!
Man, I am sorry you had to work in that environment. But not as sorry as we who had to watch it.
I was at the race sitting at turn 2 where Hamlin blew up. And I can definitely say the loudest the fans got today was when he blew up hahaha
Me and my dad were suprised Shane Van Gisbergen didn't run the Cup race at Sonoma. I'm sure he would've done great if he ran the Cup race at Sonoma and would've gave Cam Waters and Will Brown a run for their Money
We are getting close to an SVG/Ambrose type of cross video. We all want that
Another great report. The bulldozer hum a little distracting, but great report.
Anytime the junkyota drivers have trouble it’s a great race especially Humlin and Little baby Jesus. So I thought it was very entertaining!
The fact larson is the points leader while missing a race
(Sorry I’ve said it on every video about this race)

@@miketwotwenty yea but he wanted to be with his family, gotta respect that.
Soooo don't let Chastain get away with it but do we not remember Busch literally wrecking Gibbs and Stenhouse?
Crazy race today for sure!
This was like those crazy road course overtime finishes in 2022 if they happened in the beginning of the race! Lol
I like that the best car won and wasn't screwed out of it by a late race caution. So often the leader with 5 to go, and clearly the dominant car, gets taken out by a late race over aggressive restart. It seemed like for a while every road course was decided this way.
Your take on Fox was right on! It's to bad because they have won award in the past for their broadcast!
Kevin is an Ivy League Grad and Clint & Mike Joy graduated with a 2 year degree from Junior College….
Nice to see a team pay respects to the Ocean Gate Titan as we approach the anniversary of the implosion. Very respectful by JGR.
Busch needs to join the NBC booth in place of Jr. It's over.
@Eric Estepp, I asked the same thing about Hamilin's motor earlier on Jaret's post race
James Small should have told Martin to save some fuel …. No mention ! Not a good combo Small / Truex
Kyle needs to run the red Valvoline scheme a lot more I was there at the 2021 Bristol night race looks absolutely beautiful at night
It also used to be Sears Point Raceway
A nice top 3 finish for KB was looking likely on lap 99/100, but it all slowly fell apart at the end..
Busch would've made it to the line if not wrecked. He had to use what he had left to get restarted again.
Being a MTJ fan is the worst thing ever… years and years of this nonsense 😭😭😭😭 imma go cry in a hole 😢
It was Sears Point for a very long time. Then for a short while it was Golden State International Raceway. People still called it Sears Point and the name returned. Then Infineon, Then Sonoma. It's SEARS POINT as far as I'm concerned, always will be.
