Can't believe it's been five years. If I close my eyes I can still see when my mom walked in and told me grandma had passed. I just couldn't cry. I sat in my room and for three days I had Dustland Fairytale on repeat helplessly trying to fix everything that went wrong, until I eventually accepted my Cinderella had left for her better kingdom. Without the song I just wouldn't have made it. I'm grateful for it.

To say the Beatles are overrated is ridiculous. They created the blueprint from which virtually all other bands since have followed. Their influence over popular music is so gargantuan it can't ever be quantified. Most artists today, from any genre, will cite them as a direct influence, or at least as an influence on the artists that influenced them. Long rant but I really hate it when people say the Beatles are overrated.

I already told my husband to play this song for my funeral. such a powerful song, my most fav song in entire world. I hope he really remembers to play it when I die.
"Now Cinderella don't you go to sleep. It's such a bitter form of refuge. Aw don't you know the kingdom's under siege and everybody needs you?" Perfect funeral song ❤
This is without a doubt my favorite of The Killers. I love everything about this song; the lyrics, tune, story and mv. This is one of the most beautiful songs ever.
This song always makes me cry. Reminds me of my mom although she couldn't have grown up farther from USA. But I also cry for myself turning 50 having lived a fake life without love and adventures.
I interpret this song in one way, and one way only - that this song has something to do with Brandon' mother's death from Cancer. I lost my dad recently to that same disgusting illness, and through this song, I understand exactly what he felt. This outrageously amazing song makes me cry every time, gives me everlasting goose bumps; especially when I heard them live, and I feel more and more proud that I am a Victim with every single time I hear this song, and the lyrics. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I think the only part that he talks a bout his mom is when he says "Out here the good girls die" and "Now Cinderella don't you go to sleep, it's such a bitter form of refuge"
JuanjoMC10 In fairness, Brandon himself has said this song is about losing his mother to cancer after a 2 year battle. Cindarella is his mother in this song... And I think it's just all those emotions pouring out.. He's clearly angry at the world that one of the "good girls" died... and I believe the majority of that verse about how the fields don't grow, the birds don't sing and the bells don't ring is a play on the baroness of the desert around Vegas but also how he feels since her passing... He can't hear the birds singing or the bells ringing anymore... he feels such a gap in his life that the grass doesn't even grow anymore...
The song "good night, travel well" is also about his mother's passing. It's very touching and devastating. Definitely one of my favorites. These guys are poets.
Your right when I saw them he said befoure playing he said something about his mother it there's no place deep enough for my mum something like that but more emosional
A perfect example of a perfect song with a video that perfectly compliments it. Perfectly cast and directed. And did I mention it's a perfect song, too?
Belated comment I usually listen to The Killers. Lately, I watched their videos too. I absolutely love how Ronnie pours his heart and soul into the music. He always rocks it !
This songs means a lot to me. It gives me shivers of nostalgia and regret. I heard this when I was, for the first time, mentally broken and it made me weep constantly. It still makes me feel strong emotions, but I've since grown into a stronger man. Thank you for this touching song. It will forever be etched in my heart.
Amazing and beautiful!! 2 words to describe this video/song. This song will always live on inside my heart. This music video tells a story, one moment can change your life forever ❤
In my eyes there are ok songs, good songs, great songs, and then special songs. And not a lot of songs make it into that last category, and this is one of them.
This one is a tearjerker if I catch it at the right time. My husband introduced me to The Killers in 2013 and I distinctly remember the first time I really heard this song and focused on the lyrics and was blown away. My husband just lost his mother a few months ago and I can't listen to this without thinking of her. Nobody writes songs from the heart and ones that touch the heart and soul quite like Brandon.
No mamen ese piano al inicio me mata! The killers desde siempre sus rolas y videos los mejores!! No tienen madre! Los amo!!! 💘💘Brandon Flowers i love u!💘💘
This is an incredible music video. It correlates so well with the lyrics and the music, and it is sung and played so passionately that it is very emotive. It is definitely a work of art.
I am only now discovering his song,s and I find that I have to listen to each one of them over and over and over again... and still can't get enough....
Sometimes when people are livin the high life, some people a few try to get to them. Never let it happen to my Killers, our Killers. You say what we think in the best way and beautifully and one of a kind. Never forget the first time i heard ya. Thanks and keep on bringing it.
“Now Cinderella don’t you go to sleep, it’s such a bitter form of refuge, oh don’t you know the kingdom’s under siege & everybody needs you?” This song reminds me of my mom. Especially that line. Been almost ten years since she passed. Crazy how time flies. But still miss her.
I remember when this first came out I teared up when you start to realize exactly what happened and you see the shots of him in the pool, he had a lot of time to think about what he did and how he threw his life away
The way I interpret the song.......... is were young, we live and learn and love.....and sometimes our actions become the biggest mistakes of our lives. We hope that the destruction of our dreams or our love can be repaired but sometimes and most times it cant. our mistakes echo through time, you cant erase them you can only learn to live with them........... live with them..................LIVE.
It's about his mom's cancer. Hence the final stanza "now Cinderella don't you go to sleep, it's such a bitter form of refuge. Why don't you know the kingdom is under siege, and everybody needs you. Is there still magic in the midnight sun, or did you leave it back on 61'? In the cadence of a young man's eyes, where the dreams all hide" he wants her to not give up and let go, that everybody needs her and he's wondering if there's still hope left - "or did you leave it back in 69' in the cadence of a young man's eye, where the dreams all hide" - specifically his fathers hope for her. I suck at explaining it through text so sorry if I don't make sense
Mind blowing and emotions are stirred for sure One of their best songs imho Has very deep meanings Brandon's voice soothes my soul. Love him, them beyond words. ~ Peace, light, love and music! ❤🎶❤🎶❤

This is the band I’ve been searching for all my life, worth the wait!
Welcome home!
I just saw them live and I cried when they played this song
great example why The Killers are streets ahead
John James Duffy community reference?
YESSSSSS
still one of their best songs.
"There ain't no grave deep enough to keep my momma outta my equation" i think it was?
A perfect example of a perfect song with a video that perfectly compliments it. Perfectly cast and directed. And did I mention it's a perfect song, too?
Belated comment I usually listen to The Killers. Lately, I watched their videos too. I absolutely love how Ronnie pours his heart and soul into the music. He always rocks it !
3:47 right there the song gets powerfull! Love this song!!!
Yaaassss
main actor, what a guy!! believe him from start to finish and the video makes half the song
This is the song Brandon said he's most proud of.
The Killers always are able to deliver when they make their music videos. Bravo.
The lyrics are special. This is Bruce Springsteen-quality lyrics. Brandon Flowers and the Killers are the new American poets of music.
12 years this song was released, amazing, underrated song
My favorite part is from 0:01- 5:03 😍
0:00 is good too

Hahahaha, Guilty pleasure I still love Grease
Jajaj que boludo
This video reminds me of the movie Heavenly Kid. 🙂🥰
History will look upon The Killers as one of the most overlooked and underrated groups of all time
" god gives us hope but we still fear what we don't know the mind is poison " how true is that?
Amazing and beautiful!! 2 words to describe this video/song. This song will always live on inside my heart. This music video tells a story, one moment can change your life forever ❤
In my eyes there are ok songs, good songs, great songs, and then special songs. And not a lot of songs make it into that last category, and this is one of them.
The killers are just the best band. All of their songs are amazing.
"God gives us hope, but we still fear." So true!
Love the last 2 minutes especially the middle part 3:15-3:50. I wish there was an extended version
This is on my top 3 of The Killers songs, without any doubt. Listening to it on live has been one of my favourite moments of my whole life 💙🔝
No mamen ese piano al inicio me mata! The killers desde siempre sus rolas y videos los mejores!! No tienen madre! Los amo!!! 💘💘Brandon Flowers i love u!💘💘
si tienes razon
Esta canción se la dedico a mi padre que acaba de fallecer, descansa en paz papá te amaré siempre 💔
3:14-3:50 is just too perfect. The Killers will forever hold its place in history as the most lyrically perfect band of all time
You know how there's a series of songs for Mr. Brightside? I would love to see a series unfold with A Dustland Fairytale.
Love this song, up there with the best they have ever done
Completely agree. My favorite!
I love this band more than I love myself. I'm not even joking..

Me too
facts
This is an incredible music video. It correlates so well with the lyrics and the music, and it is sung and played so passionately that it is very emotive. It is definitely a work of art.
2024 y sigue siendo la mejor canción de The Killers.
2024 y sigue siendo el mejor videoclip de la historia.
So many emotions. This is one beautiful song, coupled with a heartbreaking music video.
The Killers one of those great vintage old soul type bands. The reason they underrated is because they don’t fit in much with the new era
the lyrics are just mindblowing.
masterpiece
I am only now discovering his song,s and I find that I have to listen to each one of them over and over and over again... and still can't get enough....
Literally every sentence in this song can be it's own story. This song is so beautiful :)
Sometimes when people are livin the high life, some people a few try to get to them. Never let it happen to my Killers, our Killers. You say what we think in the best way and beautifully and one of a kind. Never forget the first time i heard ya. Thanks and keep on bringing it.
Brandon flowers has the voice of an angel
2024😍💪anyone?
Normally I hate these kind of comments but I love seeing that someone is watching this in 2024!
You betcha! Was long overdue to listen to/watch the video again.
Me
Ofc 2025 soon too
From Helsinki 🎉
Keep up the happiness dinks. You don’t need anyone, people are lucky to be around you xx
This song will change your perspective on life
Definitely it will
“Now Cinderella don’t you go to sleep, it’s such a bitter form of refuge, oh don’t you know the kingdom’s under siege & everybody needs you?” This song reminds me of my mom. Especially that line. Been almost ten years since she passed. Crazy how time flies. But still miss her.
I always say the same thing when I run across this song…. Fantastic song and extremely underrated! Here again in 2021!
I personally think this is one of their more under-rated tunes
There is as much magic in the mid-night sun as their is courage and confidence in a shot-glass of rye.
I will never forget the compassion you showed hubris. It was your gifts that gave me the gumption and it is your daughter's world now.
I remember when this first came out I teared up when you start to realize exactly what happened and you see the shots of him in the pool, he had a lot of time to think about what he did and how he threw his life away
One of the best storytellers. 💕
Who else is this favourite killers song❤❤
This is so my Grandma and papa's song..they took care of each other no matter what obstacles they came by. :) I love The Killers.
Oh my god , I love them so much that it's not even possible to love them more.
where I have to go to find such beautiful girls and with such good taste in music!?
Well, I don't know about beautiful girls, but I'm from the Czech republic :).
" if i go on with you by my side, can it be
the way it was when we met?
did you forget all about those golden nights? "
Nicolas Espinosa Amazing song too, they're really perfect.
TheKillersVEVO
+Christian Sanchez you explain it very well! :)
The Killers are just something else. Not afraid to experiment with styles. Nail it every time.
Mind blowing and emotions are stirred for sure
One of their best songs imho
Has very deep meanings
Brandon's voice soothes my soul.
Love him, them beyond words.
~ Peace, light, love and music!
❤🎶❤🎶❤

Questa canzone ha fatto parte e continua a far parte della mia vita e dei miei ricordi.
