Great job love the fact that you did almost 88% of it by hand I love to see old pocket knives that most people would just throw out but people that actually take them and restore them
Very happy to see you restore this piece of American history that could've been easily lost to a landfill like the others of it's kind. My favorite part of this knife is that darn cool match striker. Freakin love it. For fun, I'll strike those on my pants zipper as a joke but to have that option on my Uncle Henry would be sweet. Good job on this one.
Thanks for the step-by-step explanation of your restoration! My grandpa recently passed away and I discovered a bunch of his old pocket knives. They're pretty rusty, but with help from videos like this I should be able to make them look a lot better!

This is sane and sensible restoration for folks like me who have no space for extensive tool collections, or garages and sheds to house them. Great Restoration as always!! My Grandpap had 2 or 3 knives like this one, & I got one of them, (and also, 2 or 3 cheaper model ones), from one of his tool boxes, about 6 or 9 mos. after he passed, (which was 2 months after my Grandma passed as well), and we were sadly having to clear out their home for resale, & dividing their belongings. I never got to restore that knife, but I DID HAVE to give it a good, thorough, cleaning though, as my "Pap" never was one who cared much about cleaning his tools after using them; and thus, that knife was PRETTY GRIMEY! LOL!!! As I recall, that cleaning alone, (plus a light buffing of the blades, w/water sanding paper), made it look almost like a new knife!!! 😊 I can't recall exactly what happened to those knives, but I think they were all in a hand toolbox, (which was the first, of my few, own personal restorations), and which was unfotunately, stolen from me, a short time afterward!! (Circa 1993/1994). I've gotta tell you, that the "Hunting Knife" you showed at 7:06, really took my attention, as my Dad has one just like it!! My Mother's Aunt gave it to him around the time I was born, (1966). It had belonged to her late 1st husband, who passed shortly before that, in March 1965. As I recall, the segmented, Leather handle of Dad's knife, began to disintegrate and fall apart, many years ago; and he has it wrapped in either Black, Electrical Tape; or "High Temp" tape. Btw; can the proper, "O.E." material(s) still be found, to properly restore that handle?? Again, Very Nice Work!! & I Look Forward To Your Reply! 🙂 Ron Abilene, TX.
