    It seems that nothing worthwhile is easy to achieve! Also I know that if you really want something you will have/find the time, patience and money to achieve it. You two have the youth, drive, dream and motivation to achieve this even if some parts may take a little longer than planned! In the end is a sweet life most of us just dream about! As we say in NZ; Kia Kaha! Stay strong!

      Cheers Bill, this is exactly the kind of thing we need to hear right now :) 💪🏻

    In my experience, the reason that major rebuilds and refits take so much longer than expected is not just because unexpected new problems are discovered, and not just because new projects are added because it seems sensible to also deal with them while working on connected issues. Even with all that, it's still not the actual work that takes so much longer than planned. Rather, it's all the extra time chasing down obscure parts, or fabricating them when not available, and chasing down or devising special tools needed, or reconfiguring a limited workspace area for different tasks. It's also just the time to figure out the best solutions to a unusual problems and effectively dovetail the solutions to the other systems and componants. Hope you're able to stick with it and give it the time to see it through. It will be an awesome boat in the end.

    I’m a new follower and keen racer although not so much these days. Interested in the history of the boat as I follow the Vendee closely and love hearing about the older boats getting re purposed and/or rebuilt. Keep,going it will be an awesome passage maker. Andy UK

      Hey Andy great to hear from you, thanks for following along. Yeah it’s fascinating to delve into the history of these old race boats and think of all the journeys they’ve done and all the storms they’ve weathered! I’ve collected all the info we know about her history on our website www.sailingnv.com/the-history but I do intend to make a video about it sooner or later. She was designed built and raced by famous Hungarian sailor Nándor Fa and we were lucky enough to have a Skype chat with him which was amazing and extremely helpful for us to learn more about the boat. I’m hoping to get some old footage from him or her sailing. She was originally called Alba Regia after his hometown. Anyway I hope you find the info on our website helpful and feel free to get in touch if you have any questions :)

    Thanks for the extra insight guys! It definitely is a big project you guys have started, but it's going to be so rewarding once done!
    Keep up the good work!

    Great episode! I totally relate to how much time it takes creating the videos. It's a lot, on top of also getting the boat work done. You guys have such a great project (though we WOULD say that since we have a similar project). We also talk a lot about doing offshore training on Duracell in the future. Sailing N/V and Duracell are the perfect boats for teaching others offshore sailing. Anyway, rooting for you two!

    Very cool boat and project! Really see the potential, but always takes three times as much time as you think in advance. Keep pushing, you will get there and the result will be extremely rewarding! This will be a true beast of a cruising boat (in a good way, that is) can’t wait to see her in the water again.

      Thanks yeah Covid has made shipping and sourcing stuff extra tricky and shipping prices have been increasing too which has been a bit unfortunate… let’s hope it resolves soon… we’ve had to come up with some creative solutions sometimes 🤣

    Congratulazioni per i primi 1000 iscritti al canale! Vi auguro di superare presto i 10.000, che grazie al vostro splendido lavoro di condivisione non mancheranno. Fare tutto da sé è faticosissimo, si vede, dato il periodo anche di più, ma quando vi sentite stanchi guardate quanto di bello avete già, come gli occhi blu di Nemo, la salute ritrovata di Solo, uno barca a vela da sogno e tutto in una natura paradisiaca e pensate che con tutti questi sacrifici li renderete ancora migliori. Forza e coraggio, avanti così che siete bravissimi!
    Riguardo ai contenuti che mi piacerebbe vedere: lo scafo originale è stato allungato, perché e che effetti ha prodotto? Inoltre ho inteso che state apportando una modifica all'albero per aggiungere una vela, perché e come cambia il piano velico?
    Un caro abbraccio da Guido

      @timoneservice 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Grazie guido per tutto ciò che mi hai detto e si presto termineremo il video sul piano velico e tutte le modifiche che gli apportiamo, in parte sarà ambientato nell' angard del nostro velato e con il suo tecnico supporto spiegheremo tutto.
      P.S. oggi sposto albero, sono un pò nervoso , lo posso fare solo una volta e devo essere sicuro che tutto vada bene e che la posizione sia adatta alla verniciatura ed alle modifiche che devo apportare.
      Ciao guido

    what vendee globe boat was it? The deck doesn't look like a single handed set up. Was it modified before?

    • @SailingNV
      @SailingNV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      She was originally designed built and raced by famous Hungarian sailor Nándor Fa, and he raced her in the 1990 Around Alone and then 1992 Vendée Globe (coming 5th and being the first non Frenchman to finish). The Russians adventurer Fyodor Konyukhov then raced her in the 1998 Around Alone and 2000 Vendée Globe but didn’t finish and the boat ended up in Australia. Here she underwent massive mods, including 6 foot extension and was raced with crew of 24 people. I’ve written a bit more about the history in our website www.sailingnv.com/the-history
