    Love this video solo lesson. One of my top favs! These soulful gospel bluesy guitar solos make the little hairs on your neck stand up & make you feel good al over! Then the background theory on how they work & why they work is just as important if not more important then learning the solo itself. Great guitar player, awesome guitar teacher! Love Clapton lessons, love the delta blues acoustic lessons, maybe some Peter Green-need your love intro solo. Keep up the great work from a big fan up here in the great white north-CANADA

    This really helped me get to another stage in my lead playing. What's great is that you really have to feel it once you get the coordination and rhythm in order to make it sound REALLY good cuz it da blues. You can put your own feeling and soul into it. I want to see and learn more from this man.

    I’m really enjoying the Premium membership. Big reason is your purity when it comes to Clapton. The Cream, Bluesbreakers Licks on your other lessons are particularly fine. Keep doing more Eric!

    you cover Clapton well. I'd love for you to do a lesson on Can't Find My Way Home. I can play it on acoustic, but Clapton rips some tasty blues riffs on a youtube live version with Steve Winwood and Derek Truck. Another fave is a live version of Everyday I have the Blues. (Maybe Hyde Park concert) Thanks

    Lovely bit of playing, Brian. Reminds me more of Peter Green's version of "Need Your Love So Bad" than of Clapton but I'm definitely going to learn this. What amp and effects are you using? I know you are fond of the Boss Blues Driver. Are you using it here?

  • @cruisemates
    @cruisemates 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have never seen Eric C, play a major scale in my life - he always go for Mixolydian or the blues scale (major or minor). If you can find even one example of eric playing a Maj7 in a solo I will be amazed. Even in "Wonderful Tonight" he avoids it.

      Paul, the main lead / riff in "Wonderful Tonight" is played in the major scale

    • @cruisemates
      @cruisemates 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Active Melody I don't mean to be picayune but the only reason I brought it up is because Brian plays a major scale in this demo. G A B C D E F# G - Wonderful Tonight is in the major PENTATONIC scale ( G A B D E ) - not the full major scale. I have never seen Eric play a Maj7 (in this example F#) while playing lead guitar. He tends to avoid the note - sticking to the major pentatonic or going to the dorian mode (b7).
      Eric is my favorite player, I have studied him for hours for years. He is the greatest, but he has that style - it is not a fault, I just feel that if you are going to speak about Eric's playing style, there is hardly any need to start out by speaking of the MAJOR scale

    • @activemelody
      @activemelody 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Paul Motter hey Paul, I've studied his playing too. I agree that most of what he plays a major pentatonic scale, but if you listen to the way that he plays a song like wonderful tonight live, you'll notice that he does play all the notes of the major scale. Take a listen to the way he's playing it on 24 nights for example.

    • @activemelody
      @activemelody 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Paul Motter also, listen to the song, reptile - another good example of ec playing the major scale

    Do ya suppose Clapton knows this stuff- I'm not sure how he was trained other than by ear. I'm not sure if he even knows a scale.

      There’s plenty of interviews out there. Clapton talks just like Brian. He could be a professor.

    what is the rhythm? rhythm is more important than melody! If you don't explain the rhythm why should I buy your material?
