Eric Oakley is a great teacher. Bring on more content like this!
Best video on hyzerflips I've seen so far, learned a lot
Love the content! But would love if you incorporated the flight numbers when he's talking about the discs! Since I don't throw DD!
agreed
I think there’s a website that has every discs numbers, flight paths, etc.
@@GungHoYungKo well yeah, but really nice if they added it for the viewers!
It's a good trade imo. They give us info and in return we check out DD discs :)
Flight numbers really depend on your arm speed. Faster arms can flip up a -1 and slower needs -2 and -3. It really just depends on the person and where you're at. Disc down in the woods, faster in open areas.
Learning to hyzer flip changed my game. Mavericks are laser straight and vandals BOMB
After 2 years I finally learned to hyzer flip, which I'm stoked about because it's my favourite shot to watch. As an ultimate player, my mistake up till now was to create a hyzer angle by throwing up (creating a rounded curve) instead of forward. I had to change my posture in my run-up and reach back to correct it. P.S: Thanks Dynamic Discs! You put out the best tutorials!
Thanks for this info.
a buddy taught me how to hyzerflip a couple of weeks ago. before i had trouble reaching the 250-300 feet mark. but when i got the hang of it, i even managed to hyzerflip a midrange further than my distance driver before. so take the time to master a fyzerflip! your game will thank you!
Learning to throw a hyzer flips improved my entire game. Not just by opening up my shot selection but by forcing me to learn and really focus on speed, angle, and nose control. Now I throw better shots of all different varieties after having improved my control of the disc through hyzer flips.
One of my best drives ever was a hyzer flip with a Breakout. I was actually putting for eagle on a par 4 from 80 and ended up with a par! Ugh. It's the most fun shot for me though.
Man all of your disc examples were so helpful.
Video on forehand hyzer flips would be awesome
Where can one purchase this field work that you speak of?
Paul McBeth is selling some of his leftover field work on Craigslist for $12.99. Heard a rumor he’s selling it for $7.69 but only on the deep web
Check within your local leagues. I member of my local group offers personal lessons for only ten bucks!
Eric is an amazing teacher!!
learning to hyzerflip the bounty has saved me so many strokes. great understable mid for beginners to learn with
I love my Bounty!!
Good disc!
hyzer flips are my favorite shot to throw! The sidewinder is my favorite driver for this shot and am finally starting to get consistent with it on forehands as well. Great video, Eric! Keep em coming
Thanks for all the tips
Thanks, this is great help for me!
Rocking that flip-up hat as well. :)
Erics cap is also in hyzerflip.
Starting the game on my own back in '08 with used, understable discs, I thought the hyzerflip was just the only way to throw, it took me a while to learn to throw flat!
My favorite distance shot 💪🏾🤙🏾
Tremendously helpful. More from Eric, please!
So many thanks for this video. I asked exactly about this in another Danny video. It was a concept I was trying to understand so badly. Off to the field.
Thank you Eric for all your great videos ! Good luck with infinite discs!
Very Helpful!
just picked up a dynamic disc truth a few weeks back and it’s now my go to for hyzer flips. my local course is wooded narrow gaps 200-300 feet long with little to no t pads. the truth will flip up easy when i’m not able to get full arm speed.
Thanks!
what really made me an "aha" moment was when I realised how much easier it is for the arm to release a hyzerflip straight were I want it to go. I think the big benefit is not just that the disc can fly straight, many discs fly straight but it lets you line up the swing / "hoola hoop circle" much more with the gap you are trying to hit.
Having the arm go more vertical makes the release point not so sensitive to get through the initial gap, sure it might still go too high or low but atleast it is pushing forward through the gap and earning feet, missing the mando costs a stroke and lost feet.
I agree with that but over the years I've found ways to time my relase point to throw other stability discs through gaps although i believe for extremely tight gaps an understable thrown 80% power is a must have. I noticed if you go play a tightly wooded course with a few people, the ones who say they hate woods dont have this shot, or lack a forehand.
Great stuff!
Eric has all the plugs to the discs used since he's not top tier.. respect 🙌
Love me some E-Oaks. Seems like such a funny, nice guy.
This is excellent. I have to admit that I've shied away from this channel because in the past it felt clownish, not serious. I'm glad I decided to check this out. Eric did a great job.
I would recommend that you give your second camera a monopod so it's not wobbling all over the place. But I'm going to have to see if more of your videos are like this one. I like this. 😁
Clownish??? Why?
@@kyledeckman9128 that was my opinion on several videos I watched a few years back.
Escape is great for hyper flips
Is that an orange Chameleon Lucid X Maverick??? If so, how do I get one?
I stand up a lot on my hyzer shots. Somthing I've been working hard to fix for a while now.
Lucid Escape works great for a hyzer flip
Dang I want some lucid x glimmer in orange
👍
I find keeping my weight over my toes when I do a slow and deliberate run-up helps me keep the disc on hyzer! And the nose angle down is so important too
Why is there never tips on hyzer flipping forehands
Because it's the same thing. Throw an understable disc on a hyzer.
It's literally the same principles but applied to flicks.
this video feels like it would help me so much if they didn't assume i knew the specific flight characteristics of the specific DD discs that he's tossing out there as examples. even if i threw more DD than i do, i'd need to keep pausing to check the flight chart and follow along to what he's trying to say!
This, I mostly bag Latitude64 and DD, but most discs he mentioned aren't familiar to me, and it was difficult to map what discs I have to what he was referring to.
Mentioning the speed and stability of the discs would have been helpful.
I came here to say the same thing. About half my bag is DD and I largely had no clue what disc characteristics he was speaking of. I don't mind the DD guys going all in DD, but given that this is for newish players like myself - assume that we don't know what a Felon's numbers are, because we probably don't!
You're on a DD channel. It's not DD's job to market other brands. Do the research and quit being lazy. Plenty of resources available online to compare flight characteristics across brands
@@wurdacag0965 yeah but if you’re just learning a hyzer flip you’re clearly not gonna know their whole catalog’s stabilities in real time. i’m not saying they should mention other brands’ discs, just maybe explain how the discs relate to one another as he rattles them off
@@wurdacag0965 it would help them sell discs and help everyone else understand if they had put up the flight numbers on screen, would've taken the editor five minutes.
Oakley is a hell of a lot smarter than he appears in tourneys. Like when he's wading in the waters
Just cause he's a Grade A Meme don't mean he's a dummy!
I'd say it's pretty smart to wade for discs... good resale 🤣🤣 just kidding
Ty Eric (y)
Ss avenger
Yep. Disc I learned to flip with!
@@Jason-Moon You ever try using it as a roller? I throw two discs on hole 1, and my roller usually goes 20-50' farther than my air shot
@@drew12thman funny you should ask. I retired it awhile ago because I was overthrowing it but I just put it back in my bag to try rolling it!
Great idea trying a roller as a second drive option. I need more roller practice for sure. Mine are still way unpredictable for me. My home course is woods and rollers in the woods are a whole different animal than on open holes.
Now I need a vid bout doing this but with ani
Where's Yellowbelly now?
Nice hat …
My guy tried to hyzerflip his cap but failed
Hyzer flip heavy diamonds!
Nobody talks about your pinch 🤏 point.
Of course pros understand it.
But teaching, it should be addressed.
I know too many people that think they need some massive power grip.
When in all actuality, you need to keep it loose and then rip it.
Just an opinion.
downvote
Hyzerflips are cool until you realize you can throw a middie
I flip every chance I get.
Can't believe you guys move into a huge new warehouse and can't produce a contract to keep the best personality you had on your team. What a shame Dynamic. Oh well it was nice supporting you while Eric Oakley was on board, and you seemed like less of a Christian Summer camp.
The Christians in disc golf creep me out
@@subspaceanomaly Why? Explain
@@soldieroftheway7979 eesh, where to start!? To clarify, I'm white European, the church here is no longer in power but it is a part of the history. American Christianity has developed to worshiping the constitution as if it were holy, and worshiping guns. And money. The high rates of child abuse in the church and that it as overlooked. The hollowness of preaching one thing whilst doing another in private. The way modern American Christianity is becoming corporate in its aspirations. The cruelty shown to people who are gay or trans. The imperial nature of missionaries travelling the world corrupting indigenous peoples, whilst also harvesting wealth from them. The way the religion creates guilt around natural human expression to then control people and manipulate them. That people who are vulnerable are exploited and then taught to continue that exploration against others. There is a second world war cemetery in my country for American soldiers. In the main building there there is a huge mosaic on the ceiling with b52 bombers flying in formation, with a flying Jesus leading them, arms out to the side like wings, his chest is open and dropping bombs. It creeps me out that a gentle unthinking young American will be inducted into this before they can know better, and with the best of intentions they become complicit. The kind of fervor that can lead to invading Iraq and leaving over a million civilians dead. Whilst raping children, accumulating wealth and crushing personal freedom to maintain this distorted behemoth staining humanity.
(I'm not much of a fan of other religions either BTW, but I've seen the horrors of the church close up and it makes me sad to see a counter culture game like disc golf of all things, being overrun with religious fanatics.)
You did ask..
All this yacking and he never actually says what angle youre aupposed to be throwing at.
I think you're confused on what a beginner is or this is an infomercial.
First
this is who you guys thought was the best to show us this? i mean, i guess. ok
What's wrong? U ok?
