Turns out it's neither. Vraska and Jace are both alive, and cleansed of Oil, in Thunder Junction. Jace was revealed yesterday, and Vraska was a few weeks ago I believe. If only WotC put into their own lore half the passion that channels like this do, we might have had an epic story spanned across multiple sets really seeing how each of the planes and its heroes faced off the Phyrexian hordes, instead of that rushed and half-baked resolution that the official writing team put out. I guess it's better just to write ourselves most of the story based on the pictures and flavour text on the cards.
This video may be a year old but I just have to say it is so well narrated, and edited. I can enjoy the voice, the cards and even some sly animations. Small wonder I've been binging this channel.
I just need a new set to come out with Phyrexia as the idea for the Block. Hands down my favorite bit of mtg lore since I started playing the game 18 years ago
I like how much flavour they added to each invasion not just through the battle cards but also the online side stories and commander deck lore. Bright palm being the leader of the defence of towashi really added to that commander feeling like part of the story
While underwhelming in terms of consequences (and horrible writing in those novels), at least War of the Spark still felt like a cohesive story. The Phyrexian invation of the multiverse had a pretty good setup up to midway through MoM... then WotC pull off of Game of Thrones season 8 and suddenly the largest existential threat in history became a minor nuisance and the heroes won because of plot armour.
Amazing content as usual. Thanks a lot for the trip down memory lane and into compleation. I know you spoke lots about dominaria, and have already made a video about Akroma, but is there any chance you could produce a video on the whole Mirari debacle?
Still would like to see Amonkhet before Bolas destroyed it. It could be a stand alone set telling the story of how Bolas destroyed the plane and warped the gods to make them do his bidding
I'm so done with the over arching story. Let one set a year tell the ongoing current timeline story and let the other three sets each year all be stand alone sets from all periods of time. - Do alara, the sundering, and the shards now isolated. - Do Amonkhet pre Bolas. - Show us Innistrad before Avacyn. - Go back to Lorwyn/Shadowmoor in the past or show how it turned into Eldraine over time after the Human Planeswalkers introduced humans to the plane. - Do Kaldheim when the elves where the gods. - What about Argentum right when Memnarch started grabbing people. - Go to Ikoria when the mutation crystals first appeared. - What about Zendikar before the Eldrazi + Vampires? - Ravnica pre guilds when the Nephilim ruled.
@@kyleellis1825 Loryn/Shadowmoor is its own plane w/ no humans other than planeswalkers who pass through, it even featured on an Invasion card. Eldraine is entirely separate and has its own invasion. The two are only linked in the way of being inspired by European fae mythology.
I understand. I just hate how they've handled the planes the last decade. I always thought Eldraine would be Shadowmoor/lorwynn after the walkers brought humans.@@phoenixshadow4631
Hi Lorebrarian! 48:19 I think this is a small editing mistake, Silumgar appears as you're presenting the Mardu. I love your video btw, it's a masterpiece! :)
Also I really hoped in phyrexian invading innstrad only to realese the aeon thorn the promised end emrakul from its moon and collectevy shit their pants when the eldrazi titan call again his two buddy for a buffet on the multiverse
I enjoy freshening up with Mtg's lore since I'm returning from a ten year break , but this episode didn't provide any context or description of how and why Phyrexia invaded every other realm 😕
I'd love to hear more about the end of the invasion. From what I ggathered, it seems that Teferi invaded New Phyrexia, with Karn, they almost got Elesh Norn, but in the end she seems to have vanquished every Zhalfirin, and when she was about to slay Karn, Elspeth, who was supposedly dead, emerged as archangel, and slayed Elesh Norn. I'm sure I'm missing some info, therefore i'd love to hear about that :D
What was the invasion like for Innistrad?
To quote Dance with Calamity, "It was just another day..."
Ikoria easily became my favorite due to the hyperevolution that caused the behemoths to evolve anti-oil measures so quickly.
Read the flavour text of the flipped "battle of ikoria", majestic
Zilortha was unimpressed...
Monsters in ikoria was activate the anti-phyrexian oil crystal armor.

Zendikar did lose Omnath and Ixalan lost Etali. So they at least got a couple punchs off :P

I missed Lorwyn/Shadowmoor and Alara, the blocks that introduced me to MTG
How fitting that a Phyrexian invasion of Kaldheim, a Norse inspired plane, leads to their version of Ragnarok.
Also, the first phyrexian invasion was the ragnarok of keld, dominaria’s version of the Norse
