I think the nerfs made roadhog alot more skillful in his hook ability. Ive even begun to use it as a sort of throw mfs into my team kind of ability rather than trying to solo secure kills
When i firts see hog i think it would be like makoa from paladins , cant one shot but he feed his team like a mom bird

Yup. Feels so good when you have teammates that follow up. And his faster fire rate with another extra shot is way deadlier when you're waiting for hook. I love it.

2 more tips are the 90 degree hook turn is now easier with the distance change and that if you jump after you hook it will give you time to walk up to your target for more damage.

He's not supposed to be a squishy destroyer, that's what the DPS is supposed to do

Hog isn’t a tank, he’s just a very large and healthy DPS.

Bellaboo made a video showing how you can still do the 1 shot combo, just jump before you shoot. It takes a lot more skill though.

@@phredbookley183 No, people are just confused. Sure, jumping puts the character in the air a bit so they're slower moving backwards, but they still are hooked the same distance away from RH, so if they have any movement/CC abilities they can get away before RH goes into one-shot range.

It’s just a patch so the game is somewhat playable till the rework and tbh I feel like it did help and bit and the game gane doesn’t feel as aids
The developer notes said they wanted to reduce the one shot ability, not make it impossible.

Finally an example of a proper nerf, makes the unwated behavior more of a skilled thing, but not locking it away forever. And generally making it fairer for everyone
The prefire hook was always a classic strategy for high elo hogs, so seeing it have to be used to perform the combo is nice. I'm interested to see the potential that the hook distance has with environmental kils

this nerf has added a revolutionary 1% increase in skill requirement to play hog
Do keep in mind, this isnt his rework. Its changes they got out pre season 3 to adress (warranted) player frustrations. Hes still due for a more proper rework in season 3 according to Aaron Keller
Strategy 2: play the team-based shooter like a team-based shooter
I LOVE that the hook leaves targets further away from you; environmental kills are now much easier and more fun than ever!!
I can actually respect roadhog players now. He takes actual skill to play

I saw this thing where you can still one shot with hog when you pull a squishie above your head and then you can one shot. Characters can't move while they're in the air so it's still possible just harder
They can still react/move but it's definitely less mobility compared to being on the ground since you dont get any momentum.
I'll also had that you can use walls in general to put them a tiny closer but you have to time it right so in general, it's definitely harder to get a 1shot combo like before

You’re still able to one-shot without the pre-fire, you just have to jump before you shoot.
I remember in ow1 using the two shot hook method, feels nostalgic to see it back in play

Other tip: You can still one-shot by jumping while moving forwards and hooking. Then aim for the head rather than the neck.

Feels a little insubstantial, I didn't want him non-functional but I am still skeptical of the ease of hook-shoot.
A dev confirmed that this is not the rework, only a nerf. The rework will be coming next season
Hopefully the full rework is more inspired than the Doomfist and Orisa ones

As long as you get a 20-30 damage hit at the start of trying to do the strat you'll be fine, if not then hook them into your team

You can actually still one shot every squishy and 250 HP Hero by just jumping after hooking them than headshot and meele. So the one shot is still there you just gotta jump.
This isn't the rework tho, it's just a balancing to his current kit. Reworks are when the devs change their kits to better suit the characters and benefit every one. Like Bastion, Torb, orisa and many others
Note: this is NOT the rework they are still working on that, this is just some nerfs for now.
Just jump toward them before hooking and you oneshot anyways

This isn't the rework, this was a nerf before the devs can release the real rework.
They made him a little more in line with tanks
But Sojurn is still a massive problem they ignored

My main was hog I always loved playing him but recently I've been playing Rammatra and Zarya a bit more and I kinda forgot hog actually exists lol I don't see him often tbh
I had a feeling they would go back to when he had 6 shots again. I always like to compare road hog and reaper to their balance against each other in a 1v1. Right now I’d say reaper will win majority of the time against him in a solo fight with these new changes

I'm pretty sure his old was touched they changed his damage or how much projectiles come out of his primary fire and his alt is just a shit ton of primary fire I had a hard time killing a tank with his primary fire normally I can drop an altering arisa as roadhog instantly but it wouldn't kill her
and somehow hog hook is much easier to use than ana dart
I hope they nerf this again so he cant one shot even with a prefire. namely, lets reduce the stun component so it only stuns on a catch for a brief moment, instead of all the way until they're released, adding some risk since you can be shot by the target you're actively hooking
been playing brig and just standing next to hog and bashing whoever gets hooked. Easy finisher, easy damage, easy timing, decent range, doesn’t knock them away.
Following up on opportunities is definitely a good strat!
I wish they had gutted him for a least a month as atonement for what the hog meta did to us

So in short you have to use your brain to kill rather than look at the hook cooldown timer
So he’s basically been reverted to that one phase he had a few years ago… but better
