For those wondering on the numbers for the healing per second. The healing was 150hp/s and is now 200hp/s.

So Hog's issue continues to be that he either absolutely stomps or gets absolutely annihilated depending 100% on enemy comp and friendly Kiri presence? And he's not actually stronger against the things that counter him so easily, just more oppressive when those counters are not present? Who could've seen this coming?
Tbh, this change really didn't do anything to og hog except give him a shorter cooldown for his healing but at the cost of how much a times. Bit of extra damage also with pig pen

I've always wished that Ana's anti would reduce healing by 50-75%, OR just absorb a flat amount. Let it last the same amount of time, but if an anti'd target is healed for 200-300 health, make it fall off prematurely. I'm not a balance person, I'm just throwing numbers off the top of my head, but the idea is there.

If you're just shooting the tank then you're doing what the tank wants. Their job is to take damage. You win when the tank doesn't need to be shot.
Or a single Anti-nade works quite well too.

That will continue to be and always has been a part of live service games. You have to accept that, and buffing characters to push skins when you play live service games.
The dr is the biggest one for sure. Bc tanks without armor or good mit abilities like a shield ect, are just a bigger target.

You play a tank with barrier and you can deny a lot of hooks already and just hound him with damage until he burns through all his heal and explodes which just makes him the fattest Ult battery in the game

Why don't they just make a role passive for tanks where anti heals just do a 75% heal reduction instead of no heals at all and buff Ana a bit to compensate for the change

@@aceuxrooevery tanks sustain is supports. Every tank dies immidetly if they can’t heal. Jg, Mauga, Hog are obvious, but so does Rein die, DVa, sigma and etc. of course the latter have other ways to protect themselves, but if they are Naded, they immidetly die if it’s on cool-down
You want to buff something that is already way too powerful when you read it on paper and also when you play the game? This is why you aren’t a dev or have any say at all with what comes out for this game
When will the balancing team EVER learn that you shouldn't do 'small' buffs for 3 aspects of the same hero or ability - they've been making the same mistake for 6 years. First with soldier recently, and also with zarya recently (which they reverted).

With how oppressive ana can be for hog he's gonna need as much health as he can get at times so these changes aren't the worst things they could've done but the real issue was more on ana than it was on hog
I also think if they actually made the healing slower but gave more damage resistance it would be better because he could still use breather through the full duration of nade and tank the damage
At this point I'm convinced they need to add new passives to tanks so they can't be CCed or Ana naded for as long as other characters like how sleep doesn't affect them as long, else they will never balance tanks properly.
Ana was always a hard counter to Hog and that is fine. The problem with this stuff over time was OW made CDs shorter making nade up more. It combined with the high damage output within recent times, especially supports has lead to such a shorter TTK in games.
It definitely is, however, i see why they did this for hog, certain matchups made him feel extremely squishy, even with using his pre-buffed breather. For instance, hog mirror matchups tend to make it as who explodes first since the breather didn’t provide much to mitigate damage. Now it can do a bit more without being too oppressive (hopefully)
@@ChrisCarlos64It’s the exact opposite, but okay. Healing has never been better in OW2. Without anti nade in the mix, the game would become an absolute slog of nothing ever dying. If anything we need more anti effects.

I would like it to work sorta like a parry for incoming damage so the damage resistance and he'll start up is almost instant but still with significant recovery.
A Sombra constantly tunneling enemy Ana, forcing her to nade herself, would be good too if missing the Kiri

@@Raide225 The community is not responsible for balancing the game, considering the average playerbase is below gold. You should listen to the playerbase about what feels good/bad, but you still need to have the professional insight into how to properly address these issues instead of just doing the lazy braindead thing of buffing Hog to get more people to play him or whatever. It's an amateur approach.
When the community (of sub gold players) say they want Hog buffed, what they actually mean is "we want Hog to be playable like the other tanks". A professional game dev needs to understand the difference and act accordingly.

I'm showing my age here, but Ana nade makes me think of Pokemon Gen 4 and Garchomp.
There's a reason that was one of the first pokemon ever to be banned from competitive play. It was so powerful that pretty much everyone ran it, so everyone had to run counters to it as well, but it would just hold a yache berry to mitigate its 4x weakness to ice, so you had to run TWO counters to it. Which left a team screwed if the opponents randomly didn't have one, 'cause you'd have two spots dedicated to countering something that 95% of players had and you happened to run into one of the 5% of players who didn't have it.
I'd say double the duration of nade but get rid of the anti on it (aka: only keep the healing buff effect for allies). Bonus in that it forces plat Tracers to stop farming damage off the tank and saying "Sombra, why do I have double your damage?" since the Sombra is actually doing her job and hitting their supports and not farming pulse bombs off Reinhardt, only to yeet them into oblivion.
Ever since you talked about Anna being hogs downfall when last time his healing was over powered, I swap to Anna immediately to anti him and sleep. Just need my team to go in on him when he’s anti 😀

It's pretty bad when they need to design characters entirely around a character existing because of a single ability... either the ability is to strong or it needs to be added to other kits to spread the ability out more so that character isn't the single answer to everything.
They just shouldn't touch Hog at this point. Revert him to where he was pre-buff. If he's bad in general and mostly played by a niche of enthusiasts, then let that be it instead of destroying the whole game balance just to make him fit like a ball into a square hole. Im so tired of these devs not understanding their own game.
Heroes being hard countered is how Overwatch has been forever though so I don't see the issue. The only problem with Hog is clearly that people refuse to switch supports.
@@Hooga89 Main issue is format change. In 6v6 even if one tank was hard countered, you had an ally tank to help you out or minimize the counter's impact. Hog was not hard countered in 6v6 because Hog didn't have to be a frontline presence all the time, there was another tank to help do that, so the effects of sleep dart and anti-nade were greatly minimized and coult be more easily played around. In 5v5 you have no other tank, so if you get hard countered you just have to swap -or rely on supports to bail you out, and that's how we get to the "supports control the game and do too much" system that everyone is complaining about now. It's all connected.

Ive seen two types of hogs recently, instantly falls over, or never falls over. The first had a mercy and lucio and we stomped the team so bad. The seond i was healing on lifeweaver with a kiriko and dude never died once. Literally 33 to 0. It was cool but i felt bad for the other team.

They should have made Hog a DPS and dropped his HP to like 350 or 400. That way, he’s no longer responsible for creating and holding space but instead gets to focus on securing elims. In a sense he would be an “off tank” and could get Zarya bubbled or shielded by Rein etc. And 400HP would be easy to take down with a bit of focus fire.

There's a higher presence of hog out there now, but imo it's not that he's become a must pick, it's just more people can finally play hog who's viable to play again. I'm more than comfortable just putting the pressure on as dva.

Anti-nade is still a problem. It's a non-interactive ability within the vaccuum of OW. Once you're hit with it, you contextually can't do anything.

was 50% reduction, with DVA defense matrix basically being 100 percent from front, and she has decent movement, I think 50% minimum to make hog a viable tank when he has no armor and slow. Like Orisa doesnt even get headshot on her and she has like 3 ways to mitigate and the spin thing makes her faster, so hog could use a bit more. They even took away his 30 hook damage and made it 5, so even his stun damage is bad. Anna and Zen still melt me pretty bad because of the squishiness

@@PaulSmith-nb6md this is true, but orisa while not dragging an opponent to her has a spear that does fairly high damage, good stun too. Sure it pushes people away, but unlike hog, she doesn't really have the same range limitations for consistent damage
@@comicalrock496 but not every five seconds. And the tracking for the hook is more forgiving than the spear. The hook also allows for trap set up and s full blast of his weapon where her spear does not
50% would be too much now. It'd be better for them to reduce the total use time to 2sec or to reduce the amount of total time for a recharge. Reducing total use to 2sec would increase the HPS

Feels like most of your game are determined by weather you have an Ana to counter their hog and a kiri to counter their Ana.
So as a hog, you don't feel like you have much control of the situation unless you swap against unfavorable match ups.

I feel like people forget that Junker Queen's ult is an anti heal as well and she gets it often thanks to her damaging abilities frequencies. Ana isn't the only counter to him. New roadhog is very fun and I used to love him before the doomfist update, but these days, I'm just a Zarya kinda dude.

Honestly, I play Cass and Reaper and have just been consuming them as ult batteries. Cass headshots can stay out of range of hook and ruin his healthbar, and Reaper..... is Reaper.
Sombra can also mess with hog by hacking to disrupt heal, really good when he’s already under pressure.

@@Raide225 Nah who let you cook? The entire reason a Hog is good/bad in his current state depends on whether sleep+anti-nade is in play, and thus also if Suzu/Lamp is in play. Hog is one-dimensional, his hook is his only core threat as a frontline tank, meaning the downtime between his threat potential he has to basically just survive and exist. And the supports singlehandedly dictate this, unless you play in silver where nobody pays attention to anything or anyone and you can just farm.
Why is there only a 1 second cd on rebreather unless he uses the entirety of the heals ??
Hog NEEDS a health reduction if they want to keep his healing how it is.
Large amounts of damage only get him to 400 or 300, then he just heals.

I feel like a useful addition to his kit to not make him get full 200% countered by Ana is to let his heal work through antiheal at 30-50%. Still would be a massive hit to his healing, both reducing his HP/s and total healing capacity, but better than how if the enemy picks Ana its borderline a forced swap. Ofc sleeps and other stuns wouldn’t be affected.

They need to be careful with changes like that. They probably don't want to introduce too many edge cases that are harder to maintain and manage. Changes like that also make the game harder to understand. (Roadhog is purple, so anti-healed and can't receive healing from external sources, but can still restore some health on his own)

I would still give him something else on his heals, maybe reduced active cooldowns on his abilities based on damage ticks/total damage received while healing or a “thorns” effect which deflects damage back to the attacker while he is healing. Still feels unplayable against Ana

Damn, hog is even more op now. I recently played an Ilios game on unranked (I doubt bronze is better) and the enemy tank played hog. And we got ANIHALTED, by this ONE hog and the rest of his team which we could not kill, BECAUSE THE HOG WOULD KILL US IMMIDEATLY. Btw he was I think 'bout 25-1 (the 1 death was when he switched to hamond and then died very fast)
They could reduce hog health so that he is sligly more killable if the players dont manage their resources properly

Why didn't they just give him a cleanse ability that extends his healing by 1 second instead of all these other changes. His weakness was Ana grenade which made him unviable. So if he healed himself. Got hit with the nade. Use the cleanse ability to allow him to heal himself. Better option then what his kit is now.
Honestly yeah. Revert his breather to what it used to be so we can actually counter it while also making it so it cleanses anti now. His new breather is obnoxious
