Wow that's a lot of olive oil!
I would usually use some butter (heated til clear and sizzling) or just regular veg oil for fish.
Skin side first, turn once only.
Great kit the 25-8 - prefer it to the regular and non-stick versions

Hopefully In This last decade you’ve learned how to fry a piece of fish. Cool video

Do you ever worry about warping your frying pan? That's some great cooking you have, using your trangia.

I love a trangia for cooking most any thing I want .Some people complain that they are to slow and dont have enough power but I have always found that they cook best out of al my stoves . Besides most gas stoves ie propane white gas or whatever have to much heat that just goes to waste . Mine is the model 25 and have had it for about 10 years have put alot of miles on it and just cant kill it . By the way only flip your fish once when it is ready to be turned it will release from the pan by itself and it will not fall apart. Not busting on you but your fish looks like a shark had its way with it. Keep on cooking on your trangia and have fun.

Appear you were getting more than enough heat for the oil to cook... to the point you may have wanted to use the simmer lid to cool it off a bit.....Great Kit

New owner of 25-3 UL w/o the kettle. Got it for a steal compared to the HA and all teflon models. Used to use my own DIY penny stoves but now being able to conserve unused fuel and control the heat is a great upgrade. Apart from camping I'll take out the trangia to a park picnic or roadside rest and make a meal where I couldn't start a small fire with organic matter.

and the best part is now I know where to fish for trout too! It's one of my favorite camping places I use to take my children too when they were little, I dreamed about it one night and remember they trout fish in the river there, so I am going to go there fishing soon and try and catch one!
Yes I cleaned a fish too!!!!

Thats a lot of olive oil!
I preheat the pan for a few minutes and then i add a small amount of oil, just enough to coat the pan, once the pan is nice and hot i add my fish and just cook it until the flesh is nice and crispy. Never seen someone use so much oil.
Each to their own. Thats the beauty of cooking. Everyone has their ways.

Hi my favorite bushman, good to see you again! Your fish dinner looks dilish! I caught some pan fish last week "sun fish" and cleaned and ate them for the first time ever, so good nice mild flavor! I love fish! no trout yet tho! still gotta try that!

Hey man here is a tip, fish flesh is cooked as soon as it goes white so it can be done in minutes on a high heat for crispy outer but not long as fish flesh gets cooked very fast, this is how to get the ultimate tasting tender fish that melts in your mouth. The fish starts to fall apart because it is over done and replaces the natural omega oils with more olive oil than necessary, if over done it can become very dry. Hope this helps anyone else too!!

A sublime Trangia video. I'm always glad to see people making real food on Trangias. May we ask what region it was filmed in?

I am testing out a Trangia 25-6UL. How long should you wait to cool down the stove before putting away, do you need to take precautions if alcohol spills around the stove while filling the burner, and what do with extra alcohol in the burner when finished cooking?

  • @RobertSeviour1

'Baking' nope, that is frying. Baking is done in an oven. Excess oil and too many flips = poor cooking skills.
