since Lindor called that team meeting everyone has stepped up he deserves a lot of credit for his leadership
What I won't forget is how he was struggling mightily to start he season and the game after calling that meeting he went 4 for 4. Talk about accountability, leading by example and putting your money where your mouth is. I became a "Leader Lindor" believer since that game and he's gone on to be a legit MVP candidate ever since.

Every time they say - the Mets “blew” the Hawk Tuah game- I chuckle.
The METS already have "handled the pressure" and very admirably. From starting off poorly @ 22 - 33 on May 29th, the METS have rallied as a Team to go 52 - 31 since then, a .638 Winning % over their last 83 Games, a significant sample-size. Incidentally, the Braves are 43 - 41 since then which is why I, for one, do not fear the current injury-riddled Braves team and fully expect the METS to finish three or four full games ahead of ATL at the end of the regular season. ATL just got through falling down in PHI in a must-win series to lose 3 games out of 4 to the Phillies. Can the METS catch ARI and/or SD is the remaining question for this METS Team.
The Braves have an extremely light schedule though and when they get hot, they don’t just get hot, they never lose for 4-6 weeks at a time. The Mets need to win 90, which requires they go 16-8 the rest of the way. Or they can get by with 89 if they beat the Braves 2/3 and secure the tie breaker. The goal should be go 15-9 and all hands on deck to win the Braves series. That means Kodak Senga in relief, Diaz 3 days in a row, whatever it takes
@@crispycruiser4654 ATL has had some win-in-bunches periods this season, but also a number of lose-in-bunches as well. ATL lost 6 in a row twice in late July and then again in early August. At only +2 Games Over .500 over a long span of 84 Games from May 29th til now, the Braves are mediocre over a long period at the same time the METS were basically the hottest team in MLB over a long span...I'll favor the METS over the Braves for this reason coming down this end of season stretch

No. He’s been solid but a .270 avg, 35 HR 90 RBI 30 SB and an .835 OPS are not MVP numbers. Shohei Ohtani is going to go 50-50 for the first time in major league history. I don’t care if he’s just a DH. That’s unprecedented

Alvarez is such a great catcher with the pitching staff, sometimes he lets passed balls go by trying to frame too much but he’s overall great on defense. Torres has the cannon of course. But even if FA doesn’t hit he still contributes.
The problem is that the teams on top are not facing any kind of crisis

Quintana and manea have been great This season. My god if only they had a dominant right hand pitcher. Severino hasn’t been great lately but not abysmal.

i think you can't put pressure on a team with no expectations coming into the season. i give them credit the first two months of the season they played poorly, since then they have played much better and could get in the playoffs and possibly make a run.

Bingo. He did a lukewarm job AT BEST at the deadline. I love the Winker deal, and Maton has been solid. Other than that, nothing. Blackburn is a AAAA pitcher no better than MeGill. Brazoban was billed as our setup man (which we still don’t have) and is appearing in the 5th inning, Stanek has been awful. Mini Market Stearns will be happy if this team goes 88-74 and misses the playoffs by a game. I can just see the postgame presser after game 162 saying we were “right there” with that smug grin on his face and “now we move forward to spring training” and other platitudes

He’s been overrated from day one. Everybody anointed this kid the next Piazza because he pimped a few foul balls in 2022. The guy is a career .220 hitter thus far with a sub .300 OBP and a below league average OPS and a total power outage all year. I’m not bowing down because this guy had a hot 3 months in a losing season and has done nothing before or since. Let’s remember he hit .209 last year while hitting 25 homeruns. About 100 points lower than his he catcher he’s being compared to

Yup. Shea was a dump, but it was our dump. 55,000 strong in September and October. Go watch some playoff clips from 1999 and 2000. Everything was better from the music (classic Venga Boys, Rock and Roll by Gary Glitter), to the graphics, to the jerseys. Shea also had personality with the bizarre colors of the seats. These stadiums today that are all green and look more like a Six Flags theme park than a baseball stadium has made the game a secondary experience
