Your tutorials, and in fact all the tutorials provided by this amazing Blender community, are an invaluable service for newbies like me. Thanks for all that you Blender artists do.
I want to like the comment but it has 69 likes. so here's this message instead!
I’m confused this comment is 1 month old not edited and there is only 26 million views
@@henrymarks1632 Yes, it did have 27 million views when I commented. How could that number decrease by 1 million?
Something funny going on here with your view counts, TH-cam.
@@Docjonel TH-cam doesn't recalculate viewer count every single time someone loads the page; it often provides an estimate based on the view rate per time for the past while, so if there's an exceptionally good time period for a video, it may overestimate view count. This is why view count sometimes jumps around and decreases, but I'm also simplifying the explanation by a lot. You can check Tom Scott's channel to see a better explanation about it.
Quick little fix for anyone struggling with the array modifier at 12:10:
Put array modifier, go to object tab hit apply and then "All transforms"
this should move the claws back to their respective positions, then go to your modifier tab again and make sure relative offset X is set to 0.
tysm, I was wondering why my claws were so weird looking and sticking out of my claw dupe model
nice, I had to do the same thing with Claw duplicator, the scale was not 1
array make rotation on the axe x with scale why? 11:45
Tysm bro
bro can you plz tell why array is rotating the claws on x axis only , ive been on this problem from last one hour , i aint able to find the solution
I remember playing around with blender in high school a decade ago, and watching this is blowing my mind how far it's come since then

You can keep both! In the IK settings, you should see a setting that lets you define the lenth of the IK chain. Set it to include everything except the bone at the base of the rig (which really shouldn't be moving with IK anyway). You can set a pole target and the IK chain will respond to it, but the bone at the base of the rig does not.
I know this tutorial is old by now, but you can probably solve the glitchiness by setting stiffness on each bone. It's what I did for the legs on one of my rigs (plus limits on x and z rotation) and it made the leg work perfectly.
How do i do that? Mine glitches when i move it.
I like how even thought he's the most pro 3d animator, he still asks the viewers for help.

@RealTimeX the animation alive one, or the pure rigging one?

Edit : I am amazed to see that you still answer to comments even 2 years after the video's release
I have spent like 2 months trying to figure out how to do this so i could release some animations in time for the now way home release. I gave up when the movie released as I had only managed to create the claw. This is exactly what i needed a few months ago but I am so glad you have published this now. Amazing work. Keep it up, one of the best blender channels. cheers
Your tutorials are so simple and easy to follow, even for beginners! I managed to do this as a complete beginner in blender with absolutely NO past experience, wonderful job! I'd love to see what EXACT shortcut keys you use 24/7 through the entire process, it's be really helpful!!!
Thank you so much, this is incredibly interesting to hear! It's always so difficult to try and imagine how Blender is experienced by someone who has never tried it before. Are you saying that you would like to see the on-screen keystrokes, like 'R to Rotate' and such is displayed every time it's used throughout the video? I feel like it could be a bit distracting to always see it. Would love to hear more thoughts on this! Thanks for the great comment!
@@Polyfjord i know i'm not the same person, but i would also love this. something like what some speedrunners use (where you can see their keyboard and what gets pressed) would be great

Absolutely amazing! I... I can't thankyou enough for explaining with detail and making it really simple, so people like me can do this awesome things. Seriously, thank you
This video legit broke TH-cam… Every time I refresh my YT page this video shows up without fail… Crazy 🤯
I tried out some extra control by having two IK chains, the top IK (Nearest the claw) controlled the top 30 bones and then another that controlled the bottom 10. Then the bottom IK is a child of the chest piece with a .8 influence so it picks up some of the animation but still looks offset. It did add a little more control, but the chain wasn't as nice and smooth as it was when it was one complete IK. Hope this made sense!
Amazing!!! Had no idea you could use the IK the other way too!
@@Polyfjord it works to a point, gives an extra element of control, could possibly link up a few IK controllers and have them controlled less and less the closer to the claws? I'm glad it's another possibility though!
Lol i didn't understand anything 😅

Finally I Got The Secret How Dr. Octavious Makes his Hands.
14:21 it isn't hard to find the right scale. If you watch closly in Spiderman 2 when Doctor Octavius walking to the arms then you can see that the arms are a bit taller than Octavius.
Since Alfred Molina the actor of Doctor Octavius is 1,89 meters tall
It means the arms are about 2 meters long
His arms stretch though, so that's in the shortest configuration. Usually they're a lot longer in action scenes.

For the solution, just make first bone/segment/root of the metal arm constrained and locked out of any and all motion. And allow second segment to only rotate alongside perpendicular axis to first segment
Can you explain it a little bit more please
@@theflabergaster7394 basically from what I've seen the glitching or spazzing out occurs at first joint of the metal arm, making sure it's somehow locked in it's relative rotation should fix the whole issue of this spazzing by restricting amount of movement arm can perform
@@coldrunhershel604 thx I understood that, sorry for asking incorrectly, I wanted to know the exact step to lock the first bone 😅🥀
@@theflabergaster7394 in the IK constraint option, play around with the "chain lenght" option... zero will make the constraint affect all bones, 1 will make the constraint affect 1 bone, depending on how many bones you have, it should be like.... maybe .... 20 or 30 or something
this may cause a "kink" in the first bone though, you can help avoid this by changing the individual bones "stiffness" property in the bone tab.

Holy. Crap.
The quality of this tutorial is insane.
The overlay of the short-cuts AND what they do is something that is not done very often but is EXTREMELY useful.
The explanations of what you want to do with how to do it and WHY it works the way it does is extremely helpful (speficially at 14:13 when you explain how to attach the arm to the torso).
