  • This is not a complete tutorial video, it's designed for people who already have a good idea of what to do and point them in the right direction or for people who'd just like to come to our store and have us do it for them:
**This method assumes you have a good working knowledge of installing operating systems, windows , Linux and using bootloaders
*** I am not responsible for any damage you may to do your computer or your data by following this method. Do so at your own risk and ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR DATA FIRST
    HARDWARE LINKS:
    • Micro SATA Cables M.2 NVMe SSD to M2 A-Key WiFi Port Adapter:
    amzn.to/3pSkZdM
    or
    amzn.to/41QGjgT
    • SSD: amzn.to/3ojAzig
    • Wi-Fi USB Dongle: amzn.to/45isASW
    Method:
    1. Open the back cover of the laptop
    2. Disconnect the battery
    3. Remove the Wi-Fi Card
    4. Install the Wi-Fi to NVME adapter (link below)
    5. Install the new NVME SSD in to the adapter
    6. Install upgrade to 8GB RAM (optional but recommended)
    7. Plug back in the battery and install the bottom cover.
    8. Download Linux POP and make a bootable USB with RUFUS
    10. Start laptop and press F10 to enter BIOS, turn off secure boot, F10 to save and reboot
    11. F9 to change boot order and boot from USB disc with Linux on it
    12. Install Linux POP on the 32GB (or 64GB which ever you have) drive
    13. You'll need to sudo apt get update , so you'll need network , depending on the Wi-Fi dongle you chose Linux may or may not have drivers, if it doesn't try download Aircrack driver
    14. Install rEFInd in Linux: sudo apt install refind
    15. Reboot the computer with the windows 10 USB installer in a USB port
    16. Press F10 to BIOS
    17. Choose default boot device to REFIND bootloader
    18. Save and reboot
    19. Wait from REFIND screen and choose "fallback install from USB" this should now start the USB Win10 installer.
    20. Install Win10 on the new large SSD you put inside the laptop
    21. You may need to keep rebooting to REFIND and choosing "fallback from USB" if Win10 install restarts until you get the "preparing setup" / "starting services" screen and you can remove the USB
    22. Win10 Should now be loaded on the large SSD
    23. Reboot back to Linux
    24. Find the REFIND config file (google it's location for different versions of linux)
    25. change the timeout to 1 second , save and reboot
    26. When the REFIND bootloader screen appears quikcly press any key to cancel the 1 sec timeout as the default OS is the last one used, now you can select windows and it ill boot to windows
    27. Reboot and you will see the 1 sec timeout automatically selects windows , as it was last used.
    28. That's it you're done, enjoy your now perfectly usable laptop :)

Could you give any further explanation on Step 21???? 21. You may need to keep rebooting to REFIND and choosing "fallback from USB" if Win10 install restarts until you get the "preparing setup" / "starting services" screen and you can remove the USB. ....When to reboot, roughly how many tries ???????

i think it is. it seems like the refit resides on the emmc and redirect the boot to nvme drive.
