    Thanks for the insight on the electrical works, just have a few questions before i plan out my renovation.
    1. Do they have a separate costing for ceiling presence sensors?
    2. Did you install your Ring doorbell via a constant power supply? If yes, how much did they charge your.
    3. Did you purchase your own LED Strip Lights?
    Thank again for the video.

      Hello there! You are most welcome~
      1. Nope.. Most IDs not sophisticated enough to advise you on anything smart home related 😆 Best you self plan, self buy and just tell electrician where you need the electrical points
      2. Nope, the battery actually lasts very long. We have two batteries so just rotate out every few months.
      3. Yes for the smart ones like Philip Hue or Tapo. As for the normal dumb light strips in kitchen, they are supplied by Electrician. Toilet ones are supplied by the vendor who did the acrylic panel box up 😀

      Hello, thanks for the quick answer.
      Actually i have already planned out my IoT devices but am only afraid that the Electrican will only be able to install specific 240v modules, and may charge more for others.
      Since you bought your own hardware, did the electrican mentioned if they are not liable if any of the devices got spoiled during installation? I would guess your philips hue is via power socket instead of a transformer?

    Your electrical quote is very worth it. I have a lumpsum conceal works with touch up at $650 which u guys dont have. For per unit cost, yours is comparable to mine, so i suppose its market rate. For the extensive amount of electrical works done, the price u pay is really reasonable and good! 👍

    • @thesuakus
      @thesuakus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Thanks for sharing~😃 Ah, have you finalised your quotation or still can nego?
      Actually, we still find that the mark up from ID's 'panel' of electricians is quite high 😐 We know of a few homeowners who managed to slash their electrical quotation 50% cheaper (around $2k savings) by self-sourcing electrician instead of sticking to the one sub-contracted/related to the ID firm. That route has its cons too (ie troublesome to coordinate) but if you have a kind-hearted ID who is genuine, he/she would be flexible enough to accomodate that and ensure that project timeline disruption is minimised.

As suaku homeowners, we left it in the capable hands of our ID and expertise of licensed electricians to navigate the technicalities and do what is permissible in line with the guidelines. Electricians were also aware that this was filmed and will be uploaded on TH-cam 😀

      @thesuakus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much for your kind support! Comments like this keep us going 🤩
      For electricals, after numerous comparisons with different home owners, we realise that different electricians breakdown the cost differently. Ours charged neutral wiring by room (if entire living room has 3 smart switches, one flat fee of 40). Some electricians charge by switch..

    • @SoonHan
      @SoonHan ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah. Regarding the wiring. I think most of them will just cut the shortest distance possible and right angles may not be so “friendly” for wires.

    Hi Sua Kus, thank you so much for sharing your reno journey - it has been really useful for those embarking on their own! I have a question regarding the electrical point in the bathroom for LED mirror, are the wires able to be concealed behind the existing HDB wall tiles? I'm not planning to overlay wall tiles like you, but still wish to install an LED mirror without the cable trunking visible if possible. Thank you!

    • @thesuakus
      @thesuakus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello there! It is always our pleasure to share more and help fellow homeowners 😇 Is yours a new BTO? In theory, new BTO have limitations to existing HDB floor and wall bathroom tiles so we can't touch those for 3-years. Some electricians may be able to hide it within the slit in the grout so can see what they say. If not, go for the bigger mirror so that the trunking is very minimal 😀

    hi, thanks for the super informative video! wanna ask regarding laying of neutral wire. your cost breakdown was for per room.. but my ID quoted me by per electrical point 😢 plus hacking to conceal will be about additional $100 per point. so just wanna find out more about how neutral wiring is done. for yours one neutral wire in each room can link to multiple smart switches?

    • @thesuakus
      @thesuakus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! Glad you found it useful 😀 Yes, our neutral wiring is charged by room, and covers all the switches that we specified out. Still not too sure about how neutral wiring works because it seems like in the end our entire house have the same three colour wires. 🤔 Wonder if it was already a default for new BTOs? Maybe someone can help clarify in this thread! We concluded that different electricians quote differently so not easy to compare because they might quote cheaper in other scope of work. For eg, our basic single/double power points are on the pricier end ($70/$80) compared to others which are at $60/$70. With dozens of sockets, that add up to quite alot too. So after all the mental accounting, it kinda evens out. As for the conceal works right, maybe hold it off for now? We are still trying to understand its legality and plan to make good.

    • @thesuakus
      @thesuakus  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello! You are referring to the LED light mirror point on the wall right? 😀 For BTO, no hacking of HDB tiles are allowed until 3 years later, so the only option is to overlay new tiles. Prior to overlaying new tiles, you can get your electrician to pull a new wire for you. During overlaying of new tiles, your tiler can skillfully embed it in a manner that is safe (E.g. within the grout / cut a hole in the new tile). When the electrician returns next time, he will help connect the point to your LED light mirror!

      Hello! Separate by buckets - location of (a) Sockets (b) Switches and lightings/appliances they control. If you are thinking of smart home, just go with the rule of thumb- "smart light and dumb switch" OR "dumb light and smart switch".

    Are we allowed to install 20a points for hob? Hdb site said that 20a are for aircon only and appliances are limited to 15amp

    • @thesuakus
      @thesuakus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Our hob would not exceed 15A. Good point. No idea why the electrician wrote 20A in his quotation line item but I assumed it was for safety reasons

    Your quotation put 'Supply and labour 13A x 2 power point', shouldn't be the power socket provided by the electrician?

    • @thesuakus
      @thesuakus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aha the 'point' only... we all along thought the basic switch-sockets would be provided but not the case - ended up having to get them ourselves. For visible switch-sockets, we went for Schneider Electric's AvatarOn series 💸

      Would recommend you first select an ecosystem (ours is Samsung SmartThings x Google Home) and go through room by room the solutions required (smart light bulbs, smart switches). For devices/appliances, it's simply researching and selecting those that compatible with your primary ecosystem (either directly, or indirectly with the help of a blaster etc). For example, aircon wouldn't be directly compatible with SmartThings, but it can be, with the help of a Sensibo blaster, which is SmartThings compatible. Another example would be our smart curtains and blinds, they are inherently Tuya, which is SmartThings compatible as well. You can check out our Bedroom episode 13 and Foyer/Living/Dining episode 15 which showcases some of these! 😀
