@@BoardGameQC Thanks! And I'd have to go back and revisit, it's been almost 3 years since we designed that one haha. We also didn't develop all the scenarios, that was done in-house at Crypto. We mainly just outlined them and built the structure.
Is this worth it just for the models? I have zero interest in the board game but I'm a huge fan of the show and I can't find any other miniatures to paint.
Corrections you only use the last discarded Map card for direction, one is automatically discarded after shuffle including setup. Spot on review , the biggest con by far is explaining the rules to the group. The rulebook can be fixed and there are already plenty of fan made game aids out there, the size is an issue and they could have scaled it down both the tiles and the mission sheets , there is no need for them to be so big. The card they save on the tiles could have been used for stiffer mission boards. Having said all that the game is good once you work through a play or two and you can then play a campaign. Plenty of table talk and theme, it's a co-op with Leader choices and that is a hard mechanic to pull off, it does leave the door open for players to add stress to the leader and usurp the leadership, so lots of side interaction and subtleties whilst completing the mission. Amazing how the lack of using novice/blind play testing feedback(it would have captured the issues) can impact a game, you can clearly see they worked hard to meet the design objectives. If your prepared to work to present it to a group or so!o it then it could be a 7-8 if too many other good games have your attention then 6-7 is fair and highlights , considering the cons there is a good game in those multitude of massive boxes.
I think glen would have still searched the first room. By choosing an action the player gets one bonus automatically. The search action being, search one card in the room you are in. Im not really sure though because the rulebook is so hard to understand. I did not like how they used terminology. Resolving group tension should just have been lose morale unless you discard a trust. Also they should have put the action name under the symbols on the player mats and they could have put the success roll options on there too. It was a pain to keep looking in the book or passing the card around with that info. I do actually like the game but am disappointed in the way the rules were approached. Also it was disappointing that out of your 15 cards there are so many duplicates, could they not have just changed up the cards a little bit to make you not feel like you are always doing the same thing. Im sure if they sat around for a bit they could have thought of 15 things that each character could do. I feel that was lazy.
Great game! Street Masters is even better. I've never understood the hatred for high quality screen caps when it's based on an IP. Oh well. The artwork is very good though.
I’ve been through just about every review & tutorial video for this game. And as much as I’d like to get this, the whole thing just seems way too complicated & fiddly for the type of game that it is. Think I’ll pass.
Great review, Sam. Thanks for checking it out! 😃

@@BoardGameQC Yep, we did design all the decks :) Glad you dig 'em!

noticed that tiles are not to scale of minis. that gives me an idea to make a custom table. will be / would be fun!
"...the theme really does kind of ooze here..." Wicked awesome opening line Sam :)

Where’s a Street Masters review??
Jordan Bross hey I’m waiting on that one too 😜
The Dice Tower doesn't (usually?) review Kickstarter-only games.
Couldn't go wrong for £10(~$14) also got one of the expansions for the same price.
The leadership mechanic in this looks really good. I just hope it doesn’t cause arguments! And by that I mean after the card has been chosen.
Leader resolves disputes e.g. Each Discard Trust or reduce morale by 1.
Picked this and both expansions up on Amazon cheap, it's a ton of fun.

Yes you get the default action before rolling for success/fear
Good review! But the real Walking Dead Game is called Dead of Winter :)

20 minutes to set up?!?!?! No way Jose!
Just saw this game on sale and passed on it, now I regret it. Looks much better than I expected.
Thanks Sam. It's too big of a game for me, but I enjoyed your review.

This, Dead of Winter, or Zombicide? IP aside.
What an ugly game. The tiles look like mediocre late 90s video game graphics.
Johannes Blank Looks are not everything.
No thanks. I have Dead of Winter.
