Love these - had a perfect manual a few years ago, sold it to a guy who left a note. Ended up buying another a few years later because they’re such fun. Clear tails forever ❤️
Great video, love my 2002. Suspension, wheels and tires done and few other cosmetic upgrades made it a head turner.. But it's an auto..., every fan boy asks "when are you gonna turbo it?" And I'm plenty happy with the na 2j, just need that pedal for my left foot and I would be in heaven, it's a fantastic car, true toyota dedication to driver enjoyment.
I love my is300 01 super clean fun OE +++ street build. Yea she’s slow but it just gives the fans more time to admire her great looks. Picked it up back in 02 and plan to keep her forever ❤
This car was the first project/daily it’s an 01 and everything I know and do started because of this car. I’ve tried selling it like 4-5 times but there’s so much sentimental value that I couldn’t so now I’m in the process of manual swapping it (without going broke buying it all at once) give me about a year and it’ll be the most prized car I’ll ever own it’s at 251k miles too
I’m the original owner of a 2002 solar yellow (e-shift, full leather, LSD, no chrome or spoiler, Nav) and did the Greddy Evo exhaust at less than 1k miles. It’s perfect. Nice tone, not obnoxious under normal driving, but growls nicely at WOT. SRT intake kit, strut & sway bars. Totally mint. Interior is flawless. No chips or dents. Has never been through a car wash, only hand washed by me for 22 years.
Jealous of the care. Mine is second hand and mine could use a serious paint job 😵💫. Otherwise it’s pretty tasteful with the modifications, everything I would reasonably do myself. New wheels, struts, coil overs, exhaust, tune, after market stereo. Ig it’s even wired for underglow..? Only had it a month and not dug in real hard.. Not really my thing but alright 👍😅. Hopped in and immediately unplugged the footwell lights that were flashing the rainbow after buying it😂😂. The previous owner spray painted the hood and front bumper but didn’t paint back or otherwise cover the exposed metal from cracking the stock paint when they rolled the fenders (and also did one side kinda funky 😂) but she’s a charmer for what I paid and I like it. Sounds nice. Got it too cuz i finally wanted a car I wouldn’t mind putting money in and learning to work on. I’m not a “skilled with my hands” kinda guy and am expecting the help of a friend who is a mechanic to get it where it really should be to become something fairly respectable
Just picked up an immaculate one recently, unfortunately it's got the automatic and for a die-hard manual purist like myself I can 100% say THIS IS STILL such an awesome car to drive. Undoubtedly a 5 or 6 speed would take it to another level of driving enjoyment, however I can't fault this car.
Had mine way back in 09 vis hood, with Rhys Millen body kit. Hks hi power exhaust, headers and back then turbos were not the only kit. Threw on the vortech centril kit made 8 lbs of boost, Brian coward cams. I LOVED that dang car.
Hello future/current IS300 owner! Here’s a couple helpful notes not mentioned in the video. Despite what the video says, the car greatly benefits from a sway bar upgrade in the back at the very least. Eibach. The manual box in these cars is not common. The auto is actually better, simple adjustments in its valve body and pressure switch will make it shift faster with less lag and the revs will drop quicker. The limited slip diff from the GT86/FRS is a direct swap into the is300, and it’s geared higher and a little stronger than the stock diffs.
You can swap a 2jzgte vvti ecu into it and slap a spinny boy on it. Just gotta add some sensors and move some pins around on the ecu. Fuel map on the gte ecu can handle 400whp (which is perfect, any more and you'll blow the motor).
You gotta splice the ecu with ur stock one, harder than it sounds also gotta do fuel and oil system. It can handle more power just nothing past 5 psi on stock con rods which usually ends up being around 400hp anyways.
loveeee this video alex, i have a little brother(20yo) with 2 of these cars, one a daily driver even in winter, and a rust free option that came with a blown motor. some doofus before him tried to turbo the car, boost gauge plumbed backwards and all. super fun cars tho, hes going back to stock na motor, and hopefully a manual swap too! keep up the great work and Happy holidays!
When he says to ignore the swaps he is speaking facts. Keep in mind that this was designed for the 3sge Beams 4 cylinder. Toyota (Lexus) basically swapped a 2JZGE into it and sent it down the production line to compete with the 3 Series in the US.
Just got a 2005 is300 in automatic already modded. Minus the paint job, it’s pretty tastefully done. Bit of a ricer but for what I paid for it, I could care less. Dude even gave me the stock ECU so it if I didn’t like the tune I could take it back stock or do whatever I wanted to it. Automatic is good enough for me, if it makes me not “a car guy” I could care less. 😂😂😂 I just always loved the stock body and back end/lights on these cars, something so tasteful about those rear lights and the square look. Would be happy even if it was stock ❤❤❤
Eagerly waiting for the GS300 round 2! Alex I know you love VIP’s with some Lilo and Stitch Jumba looking headlights. My son told me to ask for one on his 97 AE101 Corolla too. #prouddadmoment 😂😂😂
Thanks to 2005 Need For Speed Most Wanted I started to love the IS300. Been collecting money to buy IS300's brother, the Altezza. The crazy thing is there are currently like 3 Altezzas available in Malaysia 🤧 very rare 🫠 oh I found a Toyota Crown with 1JZ engine too
@@lolgamer6937 that is everywhere bud, they are all wrecked or drifted, so the clean ones left are $7,000 and up if they got all the engine and suspension maintenance.
I want to make a track IS300 because I love the design of this 4 door sedan, it’s so underrated in my opinion, but how much power should I comfortably make? I was thinking of aiming for around 350-400 but I’m not sure how I should get there in a relatively reliable manner.
Find a 2jz ge non vvti and swap the bottom end with the is300 vvti head and gte head gasket. Then you'll need a good ecu to make sure everything stays in check
N/a 5 speed + welded diff and the quantumautotune on the ecu shit rips hard ands and drives itself. I did also replace every bushing possible and put on coilovers the car pretty much drives itself.
I got my jade pearl is300 for 3200 in 2017. Blitz exhaust, a bunch of old L-tuned parts and full Kaminari lip kit. My property managers made me sell it in 2020 when I was in the middle of a W58 swap. Sucks. Now I've got a Z31 300zx, I love it but it's not comfy like the Lexus
I drive the auto.with cold intakes and big exhaust with a gs300 engine..hp is 230. Only ish is valve stem seals expired and transmission expired.but still driving it like that till I replace trans and stem seals. Oil burner and not friendly on gas.
The internet tells everyone that money is unlimited, 2jz and ls swaps are required, and minimum 1k horsepower to drive in Mexico where everyone lives and you can go as fast as you want. Good cars, just upgrade the suspension and add some bolt ones and have fun while being comfortable and looking good

No thanks, if I wanted an auto I would buy a different car. I want an inline-6 attached to a manual transmission without Supra prices.
Will the gt86 diff fit into a is200?
Mannnn I saw is300 and clicked IMMEDIATELY! I will be doing a manual swap very soon! I’d love to get into drifting in it within a few years
