    Lowering my 1970 C10 Truck.
    Lowering my 1970 c10 with CPP springs and shocks.
    The front springs were 3 inch, but the previous owner cut a coil resulting in a 5 inch drop on the front and a 4 and 1/2 inch in the rear.

      I know, I tell her to wear shoes, but sometimes it is hard to get her off her phone long enough just for an intro, so I take what I can get.

    Hey Dan. Good job on the lowering. I lowered mine, but I have leaf springs and that was not easy. The guy that owned the truck before me had miss-matched leaves and were different strengths. I had a hell of a time trying to get my truck to sit level. WOW, Your daughter is really growing up. That happens and you don't really notice. Thanks for sharing.🍁👍👍

      @DansGarageNC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Andy's Dog House yeah, coils are definitely easier than leafs, glad you got your truck figured out. This one will be for sale soon. My daughter is growing up and I’m glad I have taken the last couple years to utilize her talents for the beginning of my show, one of these days I will take all the intros and put them together in one episode just for a laugh.

    The stance is absolutely perfect. Sorry I know you sold the truck. The description confuses me a bit when you say previous owner cut a ring off. Are you saying the previous owner gave you the kit like that and you installed it? So it was originally a 3in drop spring in the front and a 4 1/2 in drop spring in the rear? And when the ring was cut then it went to a 5in drop in the front and 4.5 in the back? I want to duplicate that look on my 72. So need the details! :) cheers man.

      When I bought the springs, the guy I bought them from wanted the front lower, so he took out the front springs and cut an entire coil out. Then when he put them back in, it was too low. That is when I bought them. The front bump stops were hitting, so it may have been too low, maybe half a coil would have been better? Good luck with your truck. Remember they wear in over time as well, so it will get a little lower than when they are first installed.

    Just to make sure. You just simply replaced the coils? And what size on each end? No spindles or anything else?

    • @DansGarageNC
      @DansGarageNC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I replaced the coils, they are a CPP 3 in the front and 5 in the back drop kit but, the front coils had been cut a coil so it dropped the front a bit more than it should have, I also replaced all four shocks because I got them with the springs, not sure if you need to or not.

    Good Video! Wish there was more utilizing Springs only. Did you have any issues with the Axle hitting the frame in the rear? I want to Lower my 72 but am trying to avoid C-Notching the frame.

    • @DansGarageNC
      @DansGarageNC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't believe you have to notch the rear unless you do 6 or more in the rear. The front did hit the bump stops, but thats cos the front springs were cut.

  • @ronzeller1647
    @ronzeller1647 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So I just saw this video…I wanna lower my c10 as well.. so did you get/buy a 3” front and 5” rear springs? And yeah the fronts got cut I understand… but that stance!!! Damn!! If it’s a 3”,5” drop I wanna do it! What are the rear springs? 5”?

    • @DansGarageNC
      @DansGarageNC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just looked in the video description I said the fronts were supposed to be three and the rear 4 1/2 but the front ended up being five since they were cut so front was 5 inch drop and rear was 4 1/2 inch drop. But the springs originally were three and 4 1/2.

    What length were those cpp springs before installing?

    • @DansGarageNC
      @DansGarageNC  ปีที่แล้ว

      The front springs were for 3 inch drop, but the previous owner cut a coil resulting in a 5 inch drop on the front and a 4 and 1/2 inch in the rear. I do not have the actual measurements if that's what you are asking. Sorry.

  • @racer67
    @racer67 ปีที่แล้ว

    U didn't need an adjustable track bar to center the rear? And no shock relocaters?

    • @DansGarageNC
      @DansGarageNC  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I believe you only need those if you do more than 5, and if you go really low, you will need to "C" notch. Good luck.

  • @eliassolorio46
    @eliassolorio46 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How much clearance from bottom of the frame to the rear axle it won’t hit

    • @DansGarageNC
      @DansGarageNC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you can do a 5 inch drop without a "C" notch.

  • @bishop1shox
    @bishop1shox 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Looks good,how does it Drive? I want to lower my truck the same way ,without C-notching the frame

    • @DansGarageNC
      @DansGarageNC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a little stiff. The front coils were cut so the bump stops would have to be removed as it rides on them now. The only other alternative, would be air ride, but that costs a lot more and is very spongy. Less of a drop would probably ride better, but what is more important, how it rides, or how it looks? lol

    • @scofow
      @scofow 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Any mods after this?
    How does it drive?

    • @DansGarageNC
      @DansGarageNC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No more mods, I sold this one. It seemed to drive a little rough on the front end due to the springs cut. If they weren't it probably wouldn't have been too bad.

    I did the same drop on my truck. It has a 406 small block, and I run 15x10 Cooper Cobra GT tire's on rear. My truck drives great, and does great burn outs. One thing I noticed is if I spin my tire's in reverse I'll get wheel hop. It doesn't do that going forward. Only in reverse. Do you have the same problem? If so how did you fix that? I'm trying to figure out how to fix this problem. I'm thinking about putting a coilover kit in the rear in hope's of it fixing that problem. It's not a big problem, but it annoys me knowing that it does that while spinning the tire's in reverse.

    • @DansGarageNC
      @DansGarageNC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I sold the truck, so I do not have any problems anymore, lol. I would suspect that the wheel hop is because the rear suspension is linked at the front and designed for front rotating torque, not rear. Not much you could do about that. Thanks for watching.
