These ended up being so soft, so thick, so warm and cozy ... One thing I know for sure is that since I found making them to be challenging (in a good way), I couldn't have done this without you! Thank you thank you thank you!
Since I discovered your page, I'm, as I have time, going back and watching them. I really appreciate how clearly you explain things and I love being able to save, replay and back up a gazillion times 😊
You prolly dont give a shit but does anyone know of a method to log back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot the password. I love any help you can offer me
@Terrence Parker thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Ok just getting started with the clogs. Had to restart once and learned NOT to try and follow pattern AND Jana late at night in bed with bad lights and dark wool. But row 1 is complete!!! I am the boss of my knitting. Thank you Jana could NOT have done this without you. Play, reverse, stop, pause. Over and over. These “ make one” tricks are brilliant! In the past I have stared at the pattern and the needles going “ and how am I supposed to make one from thin air?” Two thumbs up. Knit on !
Hello i myself prefer to pick up the leg of the lower stitch below but if you or others prefer to tighten that hole of the lifted ladder and knitting in it try knitting in the back of that loop to make it tighter the hole will be not as visible. Also i watched you Facebook video of the yarn ends. I was told and i find it true that yarn has a nap to it like material if you take the end and stoke lightly the yarn back and forth you will feel in one direction the yarn is smooth and going the other way it feels rougher that is the nap from the direction the yarn was spun. So you want to have the smooth feel going away from you. That is the end you star your work with i always test it as it varies from company/brands. If you have ever noticed you yarn twisting back over itself when knitting you have chosen the wrong end. I prefer center pull so if the yarn on the outside is the smooth i will rewind the skein into a new cake for ease of a center pull. Might sound crazy but it works for me. Try it and let me know if you can feel the smooth and rough feel.
Just discovered you and your tutorial on here..and I LOVE IT! Starting this week making clogs for my daughter! Great video and very informative! Thanks for your time and teaching! #yourockit
Hello! Thanks for these videos. I made these slippers in 2005 (!) and am in the process of re-sole-ing them with a new felted double sole, so wanted to review the pattern. I have a comment right out of the gate, though -- if you are using Bev Galeskas' clogs pattern, row 1 is Knit (no increases), so there should be no issue using the M1 for all increases. Thanks for these videos -- I look forward to viewing them.
Totally agree with all the comments on your amazingly clear instruction and calm voice of encouragement. With the pandemic there is not much support available to help me to start a project like this in my area. Your videos gave me a green light to go for it! One question I have is it is not clear to me how many stitches to cast on for women's small, medium or large? Is is 51 for small, 57 for medium, and 63 for large? Also since you felt it would you recommend if you are a women's size 8.5 to 9 would you cast on the large size? Is shrinking it easier than stretching it after you felt it? Thanks for your help Jana!
Yes, you have the cast on numbers correct. And yes, if you are between sizes, knit the larger one, then shrink/felt them down to fit. Thanks for watching!
Just got the pattern, what kind of yarn did you use. The pattern say to hold the yarn double but you are knitting with one strand. Can't believe I am now seeing this video. Will be going to the yarn store tomorrow. Anxious to get started maybe I get some done in time for X-mas.
If I recall, on this pair I used a combination of a bulky (which I only used one strand) and a worsted (two strands) because I was using up some partial skeins I had leftover. If you're going with worsted, you'll want to use two strands held together. Thanks for watching!
I just found you and have a question. Are you doing this on circular needles? I’ve started other patterns but am having problems with circular needles stretching the wool too much. Also where is the pattern? Thank you so much !
The link to the pattern is in the video description. I do use circular needles. I just make sure the cable is the correct length so as not to stretch anything. Also, there is an updated version of this series that you might find helpful. Go here for the newer playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLNWbWGGFfxXnc2ykGuF_qs1L3eCUFMwIA.html
Trish here I ordered your pattern last light December 1st 2018 and finally got I done the following night, gosh I'm in love with your pattern, and I just wanted to point out that your a great teacher gosh where have you been all my life.Thank you so very much
IF i use roving wool I will use only one strand as it is bulky, What yardage to I buy? the pattern says 600 which allows for double strands but I am not doing double strands. Thanks so much
It would depend on the diameter of the roving you use. If you have some worsted on hand, you might compare how many wraps per inch a double strand of worsted would be compared to a single strand of the roving you intend to use. For example if you get 4 wraps per inch (just a random number, I have no idea how many it would actually be) of the double strand of worsted, and only 3 with the roving, then clearly the roving is thicker and you might be able to get by with 25% less since you have 25% less wpi. Just thinking out loud here. You could certainly measure off 20 yds of each possibility, knit a swatch with each and compare.
I need help with choosing yarn and needle size. I have FritidsGarn from Norway suggesting a size 9 needle, yet the pattern says to use 10 ply wool doubled and a with a 13 needle. Pleas help me figure this out.
Ok I spoke too soon. Finished row 2 and counted 65 stitches. Now it is probably me, but when I read and understand the pattern I think it says at the end of row one (59, 65, 71/71, 77 sts). Does this mean that since I began with 57 stitches which were behind brackets that the second number in this bracket is what I should end up with? It doesn’t make any sense otherwise. But dopey me highlighted the first number behind brackets all the way through the pattern so as not to get confused and now I am confused. I assume I look at the second number only at the end of each row for total stitches. Since we have been making them. Yes?
On page 2 of the pattern, there is a paragraph about Sizes. If you began with 57 sts, then you're knitting the Women's Medium for a women's size 8 shoe? So you'll highlight the second number everywhere. At the end of row 1, you should have 65 sts.
Thank you! Whew. No longer confused. But ohhh row three... started reading the men’s instructions half way through, whoops. Knit row four. Wayyy too many stitches... so TINKed all the way back and fixed it thanks to your instructions on how to look at where we are in the pattern. So again... yay Jana!
Hi, I'm making a man's size 11 clog. After the cast on row of 63 stitches, my pattern shows, Foundation Row: (For men's sizes only) Knit. Then if you jump down to Row 1: k1, m1... My question is, am I not supposed to knit one row after the cast on? Does that mean the cast on row, is the foundation row? That's a little confusing. Thanks for your help.

@Davion Fabian Happy to help xD

I learned to knit when I was 10 years old. But I only know how to knit and pearl. No fancy stitches. You make it look like I could do it.

In the updated version, I think done sizes do a knit row and others jump right into increase row

Just knit a sample swatch and see what needles give you the gauge shown on the pattern.

You have the cast on row, knit an additional row which is the foundation row, then begin with Row 1 of the pattern instructions.
Thank you for responding! @@PurlTogether
Where do I get the pattern , I followed the link you left but sadly , the page can't be found
fibertrends.com/products/ac33e-felt-clogs-pdf-download
Do you have a pattern for mens felt mitts that you would like to share with me. Please thank you
I would recommend that you search Ravelry.com They have an amazing database of patterns there.
What kind of cast on do you recommend for this pattern?
I used the long tail cast on
Could we use German short rows?
Instead of the wrap and turn? Sure.
How can I get the pattern?
There is a link right under the video.
Bella
Hi, the link did not take me to the pattern …😂
Thanks for letting me know. Try this one:
