Aw man, I was hoping you'd edit and upload it here too for the broke crew like myself. I was especially looking forward to Reputation tour.

On Miss Americana she talked about the “end” of success for female artists when they get close to 35. For me here she’s saying “they say the end is near, but I’m still trying everything to keep you looking at me”. It’s sad. But amazing how after 16 years she’s still at the top, with no signal of descending.

Thank you for your reactions! she wrote this song after she learned that she had to cancel her shows for Lover because of corona.

As much as Taylor thinks she won't be as successful as she was a few years back she keeps breaking records after records. I think some artists like Taylor, The Beatles and Micheal Jackson are always gonna be relevant and listened to no matter how much time passes.

This one really grew on me, and is one of my favorites from the album now. I think she's singing directly to the fans on this one. "When no is around, my dear..." she is still there, playing her music just for us.

I recommend reacting to the long pond studio sessions after you are done with the folkolore album reaction. I would love to see your reaction to that! Ik that the live performances could possibly be hard to do cuz of the copyright but the most important thing is your reaction to taylors explanations and conversations of the songs on the album

oh i hadn't thought about what you said about the mirrorball having loosing so much protagonism nowaways. thats sooo true and makes the song even more sad!! and nostalgic in a way, i love it

This song is so touching for me and so true cuz i see my self like a mirrorball cuz i have different personalities like I’m just a normal guy with my family, crazy with my friends and quiet in my job that’s what mirrorball is about

I’m going to straight up say it, this is by far my most favorite song. I really like “willow” and “tolerate it”, but something about “mirrorball” is so ethereal and enchanting. I love it.

The fact that this song has minimum Productions but somehow it sounds rich.

Oh yea, i really like Mirrorball. She’s up there as a mirrorball. When she falls, she shatters into a million pieces, which makes her more shiny and that’s what entertains them. My favorite lyric, “your not like the regulars, the masquerade revealers”. I love it. All she does is try try try to entertain.

I suggest watching Taylor's Netflix Documentary, "Miss Americana" ~ this song sums up her emotions and career as she's aged and struggled in the business. How most women's careers in the industry ends at 35 unless they find endless ways to reinvent themselves (unlike men) and stay relevant. How Taylor has always felt like she has had to live up to all these expectations and demands...and then how she's slowly reconstructing herself and belief system, and to teach herself to wrote and sing and live for herself first... And she's done that! She released the documentary during Reputation & Lover era. Now she's released Folklore, Evermore, her albums re-recorded, and soon-to-come Midnights. And she keeps slaying it, absolutely killing it, bc she's more true to herself now than she ever was. But the documentary is so true and eye-opening!

The music of other great artists, while remaining great, becomes dated after a while because of the specificity of the context of the lyrics. Taylor writes about her own specific experiences but in a generalized manner so that fifty years from now teenager girls will relate to Tear Drops On My Guitar.

This is not a patch on Elbow’s “Mirrorball”, a completely different song. . Harvey’s lyrics are pure poetry.

This song, imo, has a lot a Springsteen-esque imagery/metaphors. I could see Bruce covering this song. I’ve never been the biggest Taylor fan. She’s certainly an extremely talented songwriter, but her stuff just wasn’t for me. But this song, when I first heard it, I was floored. The production, the dynamics, the lyrics, the harmonies, etc. it’s all perfect, and you’re right- no one else could’ve written this song, except for Taylor.

Please do Long Pond Sessions to get her own words and explanations behind the songs of Folklore! Genius and other interpretations aren't always factual and based on a lot of assumptions - specifically for this song - the meaning goes beyond what was listed.
