In her documentary she speaks about how a woman has to always reinvent herself in order to keep being successful and she also says she feels she's living her last years on the spotlight before she's not allowed to anymore by society. I see this song as herself speaking to her fans and saying she's here to stay, she's our mirrorball and in concerts she shows us our best versions of ourselves. She shines for us. She is there for us. She feels at home with us (when she says she's on her tallest tiptoes with us she means she can be herself with us because she's often been criticised by the media for wearing high heels when she shouldn't cause she is really tall and tall women shouldn't wear high heels according to them 😒 when she's with her fans she doesn't have to pretend anymore).

I really like this interpretation...and this explained some parts of the lyrics I didn't get at all...now that you connected it with the media I can speculate like there is a thing called "the media circus", so maybe that part is about the media lose interest in her because she is "too old" to be that interesting, so when the media will not talk much about her anymore she would still keep doing her music and be there for the fans

this is definitely her song for the fans, she is a mirrorball , she constantly changes herself/music/image to be constantly interesting so the fans would not get tired of her, she always reinvents herself to fit in. When she said that the end is near, she talked about this in her documentary that she feels that the time will come that the people will get tired of tolerating her being famous., but as long as she is still relevant, she is doing everything to get the attention of her fans.

To me, this song is about being a woman in the spotlight, and how the criticisms of her reflect the viewpoints of those doing the criticism, more than they reflect who she is. She's like a canvas for people and the media to project their views and opinions and issues onto (she's been seen by many as a symbol of certain issues in society, rather than as a person). And she's saying that she'll still be here, dancing and glistening, despite being shattered into a million pieces by this mass-projection and mass-criticism (she went through a very dramatic "cancellation" in 2016). I think it's also a commentary on how, due to the many criticisms thrown at her over the years, she's tried to alter her image to please others, and perhaps is still insecure about how there's still a part of herself that wants to be liked, that will keep dancing in the spotlight hoping to be liked and appreciated and understood by everyone someday.

This is what I got from it too, especially after watching Miss Americana. It must be a kind of hell, going through your stages in the public eye, and she started so young - she's like 14 years into her career now, which is wild for a female artist to still be this successful after 14 years and 8 albums. She talked about that in the documentary, about how women in the industry have to reinvent themselves in a way that men don't, and she's right. It makes me think about how a lot of female pop stars have a gimmicky kind of brand to be recognizable and set themselves apart, but in the end, sometimes that brand holds them back at a certain point too unless they're able to succesfully pivot at some point.

I interpreted this song to be written to the music industry and the fans
"I'm a mirrorball" as in whatever the industry asks of her, she will do so like a mirror.
"I'll show you every version of yourself" as in she will keep switching genres and show the industry all its different versions. It can also mean how we think we hate a particular genre, but she makes us love it.
"You'll still find me on my tallest tip toes, spinning jn my highest heels, love; shining just for you" as in no matter what people throw at her, she will still keep making music and will also thrive when she does.
She could be profoundly sad, but for us she will shine
"I'll do everything to keep you looking at me" as in she will do whatever she can for the industry and the fans' attention and not fade into the background

I've always interpreted this song as part of the 3 part story of James and Betty. I feel like this song is about the other girl who James cheated with and how she's trying keep him interested in her even though their summer fling is about to end. How she's willing to do anything to keep him longer.
    Lyrics:
"Hush, I know they said the end is near"
"I can change everything about me to fit in"
"I'm still trying everything to keep you looking at me"

everytime the bridge are started it always gave me chills through my body and teary eyes. i mean its so relatable to most of us, and for me its just so true, i always expecting people to not be bored around me and always wanted them to being who they are to me and never change, ill do everything to keep the people i loved to be near with me but life doesn't seems that good cause in reality people could change instantly no matter how much efforts that you were put to keep the string of relation with them cause if you already try your best and even drained yourself just to keep them around but ended up being apart that means its always been you the one who tried.

The line that always gets me is, “I know they say the end is near, but I’m still on my tallest tiptoes, spinning in my highest heels, love, shining just for you.” Considering that she wrote this in isolation, when all were getting is bad news, she released an album that’s a brief distraction from what’s going on.

My personal interpretation is that she wants that person to feel as though everything will still be alright. When everything is dark and the person feels like everything is coming to an end, she wants him to look at her and ensures him that everything is going to be okay. She hangs in their tightly like a symbol of hope and even if things will eventually come to an end and shatter her into a million pieces, she will still glisten and will not stop shining for him.

I have a theory - u haven’t reacted to it (hopefully u do) but the song peace from her new album is about almost feeling guilty she can’t give her boyfriend peace because her life is a mess and drama follows her. In mirrorball, she’s talking about showing him every version of him and reflecting himself onto her. And she also goes on about never being a natural and trying too hard and “still trying everything to keep you looking at me” I think mirrorball is basically just saying that she will try to mirror his actions and try as hard as she can to keep him interested in her so he stays with her. It’s actually a really sad, insecure song.

I dunno why, but I think this song is for her fans specifically. Might be wrong but here goes.
I think when she says she's a mirror ball and shows us every version of us, she means all her fans who see these songs differently and interpret it in a different. She says she can change everything about herself to fit in which shows how she changed genres with the changes in her fan base. Especially when she says she tries tries tries and when she says she wants to keep us watching and laughing. And there's so much more. Next time you hear the song, keep this in your mind and tell me whether you see it or not.

I love this song, but it makes me sad.
It feels like she is talking about herself and her fame, and hardly no one sees her, they only see the version of themselves in her that they want. She is only there to please them.

I'm getting stripper vibes from this song. Lemme explain.
At the end of the day, performing artists sell themselves... And in the darkests nuances of interpretation, they sometimes feel like strippers, caught in an ugly cycle of having to perform, be pretty, hide their true self for money... "standing on my tallest tiptoes, spinning in my highest heals love, shining just for you" also "you're not like the regulars" is a term often used to refer to regular clients of stripclubs. I think she alludes to the people that listen to her music, and only take, without giving anything back, without wanting to know her true self. It's both a piece about her need for approval, and the almost dirty and abusive way in which she feels used by the industry. There's always another prettier girl, willing to to anything to take your place, so you are almost forced to continue. It's an endless cycle.
