I have three children. My three year old became increasingly interested in the medical field. she requested the Squishy Skeleton, and memorized all the organs and bones (thanks to a TH-cam video). When I sat back and dreamt about how she would grow up, finish high school, go to college, get accepted to a nursing school; its funny cause I pictured someone like you. When I came across your videos recently, I was amazed with how much you were the type of person I wanted my daughter to be. Keep up the good work. God bless you.

Im currently about to apply to an ADN program. Where I live, the community college has one of the most prestige ADN program and the hospitals in my area will pay ADNs to go back for their BSN. it is interesting how each state is different.

I live in Canada and in my nursing program the entire nursing degree is 4 years and we don't do 2 years of pre-requisites. We do the pre-requisite type classes along with our nursing classes for all 4 years. and at most of the areas around me its just grades that get you in and they're super high for some schools and not as high for others. we also don't have to write an essay or have references, or do any entrance exams. Its really interesting hearing how different your acceptance was to mine!

I just wanted to say that I found your channel a few months ago and you have truly inspired me in more ways then one. You inspired me to start my own TH-cam channel. I'm trying to apply and choose a nursing school, and your "Applying to Nursing School" video answered so many of my questions. I love hearing about your everyday life in nursing school because it prepares me for what's (hopefully) in my future. I also loved hearing about you and your now fiance (congratulations!) and seeing your house and oh my god your budgeting videos were unbelievably helpful putting things into perspective. I'm seriously planning on saving that video and using those tips for when I move out with my boyfriend in the upcoming two years. I just wanted you to know what kind of impact you were making. Thank you for posting the most helpful and interesting videos; it's so great seeing my future before it happens. :)

YES! I think that it is SO important for people who want to go to nursing school, they need to try to get their CNA or any basic level at a clinic, nursing school, or clinic. I have been working at the same doctor's office for a little over two years now, and I am honestly so thankful for all the experience it has given me. ABOUT GPA, there is a gentleman that I know that had a 4.0 overall GPA and did not make it past the interview, do not only rely on your GPA to make it into the program. For TTU the minimum acceptance is 3.0, but it was uncommon for anyone to be accepted below a 3.4 and the TEAS exam needed to be at a minimum as well (I forgot the ranking names, it is not the highest one but at least the second highest level) with taking the exam a maximum of two times. My program starts mid-January and I am so nervous, but I am ready to start when it gets here. Huge congratulations to your success, and congratulations to other on this journey as well. :D

Lynnzy Blanton I’ve been an STNA in a local LTC/skilled nursing facility for almost 2yrs, & just recently decided to go back to school for my LPN. The college I applied to requires you to have your STNA Certification & I think it’s a great idea for nursing programs to have that requirement!

I have one more semester before I start applying for nursing school. I'm applying to an Associate's Program first because I'm guaranteed to get in due to privileges of the Future Nurse's program I'm in but I'm going to add on my Bachelor's afterwards. In the state of California nurse's are required to have Bachelor's degrees starting 2020 so EVERYONE has to get a BSN anyway. At least in this state! And my nursing school requires that you meet a certain cutoff score in a multi-criteria screening process that takes into account your grades and experience. And they only require a TEAS of 62% but 90% means you automatically reach the cutoff score!

Interesting how the American system works! I'm applying for nursing in Canada and majority of schools are 4 year programs (not including pre-reqs). I'm finishing my bachelors degree in accounting in the spring and will still have to do 4 years in the actual nursing program even if you've finished a degree. So yay for 8 years of school 😳

my counselor also told me the hospitals are also only hiring mostly bsn nurses because the level of mistakes made by adns vs bsn nurses is pretty high so the insurance company's require the hospitals to pay higher premiums to cover the hospital...i think this is the main reason why... I live in AZ and theres only one hospital branch here who still hires adn grads.. so its really hard to find a job.. our bsn program takes 2 1/2 years but we have to have an AA before we apply w all sciences and human patho ect.. I love ur veds:)

It is so odd how things are so different in other states! All BSN degree courses in the state of Georgia (that I've found) are 3 years, excluding core classes. An ASN course in Georgia is 2 years, excluding core. It is smarter to do an ASN course, then do an RN-BSN track here.

  • @Behikoh
    @Behikoh 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Oh wow, the american system sounds so much harder to get into then in Australia. In Australia, to be an RN you need your Bachelor and its a 3 year course that is really quite easy to get into (IMO it should be harder.. I think we are devauling our nurses) and you can get straight into it from high school, with no extra exams or prereqs!

  • @melopsicodelia

How is nursing school only 2 years? Only in the States, that's fuck Up!
And the 15 months one is insulting, you have someone's life on your hands, It should be minimum 4 years just nursing school, like most countries.

  • @estherpetit-homme2303

At my school, prerequisite courses are in the first year, and the next three years are nursing. I'm a transfer student and I wanted to do the accelerated program since I am a transfer student, but it's WAY too much for me. The classes are pushed together to force you to finish fast and I can't even...

I'm so happy I found your channel, such great information! I applied to a community Nursing program in January 2016, and did not get accepted. This January I reapplied to the same school, and 2 others. I have a feeling that I may not get accepted to any. The one school I applied to needs me to retake TEAS for $115 by the 27th. But that's a lot of money to spend to not even know if i will get in. If I do not get in then I was looking into becoming an LPN but really want to work in pediatrics, or a doctors office or a hospital. Is that posible as a LPN?

Hi, I am junior in highschool right now and I'm considering becoming a RN. I'm currently taking medical termanology duel credit class. I live in East Texas and I just don't know what are the best colleges or universities that have the best nursing programs and I was wondering if you could help me out. I'm also debating wether I should do my basics ina community college in the city that I live in or go straight in into a college or university. Since I'm already going to have a credits for the community college I don't want to throw it away by going to another college that won't accept it. My current gpa is 3.97 and 3.91 and I'm in top ten percent of graduating class.

What if a school doesn't have a pre-nursing degree? I want to get a Bachelors in Nursing, but before we can even apply we have to complete prerequisites.

I am currently a third year, and I will be graduating in spring of 2018 with a bachelors in health science-interdisciplinary degree :) love hearing about your journey! Do you have any videos on how you afford everything without a job during school? I live in my own apartment with my fiancé and he has a job and makes a decent income. I do have a job right now but I'm taking quite a lot of credits next semester and plan on doing spring semester as well while planning all of the last minute stuff for my wedding and would like to maybe be job free next year during school. Any advice? Love you and your videos!

The only difference between adn & bsn is the leadership portion. Also the only reason they are only hiring bsns is because hospitals are trying to achieve magnet status. I'm in an adn program and by the time I graduate (may 2018) there is probably no way I get a hospital job unless I network and start my bsn right away.

In your opinion, does having a previous bachelors degree and a BSN give you more opportunities (in regards to nursing) as opposed to just the BSN? I am currently in a situation where I can do both or just the BSN, I really want to just go ahead and do the BSN and not complete a separate degree first, but some people infields outside of nursing are encouraging me to do both because in their fields 2 degrees in way better than 1. In your opinion is that the case for nursing as well?

You can definitely get into nursing school with a 3.0 GPA, I know plenty people that had a 2.8 & 2.9 that got into very reputable MSN programs in the Chicago area. You just have to study hard and bomb your entry exam, essay & interview! BE ENCOURAGED!!!

Hi Kathryn! I really enjoy watching your videos because you're 5 years younger than me and you have more knowledge and experience, so of course i learn a lot from your videos :) lol.
With me, I have an idea of what I want to study in college but I still doubt a lot if it's the right career for me. I'm considering just doing a technical or associate program because I'm not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. I'm thinking about working part time while studying but I believe financial aid won't pay too much for classes and school materials if I work. Any thoughts? @kathrynann
