- This is the final stop on our Slovenia trip, and we've saved Ljubljana for last! Incredible architecture, fun food, and Jože Plečnik (Joze Plecnik) all await us in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia...
Ljubljana is not just the capital of Slovenia, but it's also the largest city in Slovenia! It's surprisingly walkable, and walking is honestly a joy. The river divides the city in half, and our studio apartment was just off one of the main cafe areas - and just across the river from old town.
We tour the former home of architect Jože Plečnik (Joze Plecnik), and hear about his eccentric nature and workaholic tendencies. Much of the furniture in the home/museum was designed personally by him! We highly recommend visiting the museum while you're in Ljubljana.

Plečnik did a lot of work in Vienna and Prague as well. Beside buildings in Ljubljana he made the plans for several churches in Slovenian countryside.
Yes, we learned then when touring the museum. I wish we had time to visit some of his other buildings! Next time. 😊

I love when random things happen like that. Ostrich on a leash lol. I've been in every country around Slovenia but, have yet to be in Slovenia itself. I so want to go. The city looks lovely. Mmm lunch looks good. Vietnamese food in Slovenia love it. The Pancakes look sooo delicious. What a gorgeous house. The decor is amazing. Well that's an interesting bridge(s). Very cool exposition of Ljubljanas local artist.

thanks for sharing. I'm not sure Plecnik's designs stand out like Gaudi's do, but thanks for showing his work off as you have! I went to Ljubljana in 2004 and found it a really agreeable city!
You're right - Gaudi's works have a very distinctive feel to them. I swear you can tell his designs at a glance, and that wasn't as obvious with Plecnik. Still, we love architects that have so much input and vision into how a city looks! We loved Ljubljana!

The hiking near Bled was *incredible* and probably our favorite part. That said, we'd probably go back to Logarska Dolina with the hopes for better weather (we got drenched and that's also what we could have done without 😂). Also, you really should go there! It's a gem. 💎😊

Just a heads up that the area near Bled is super busy in July and August. Logarska Dolina is further away from tourists, if you enjoy hiking and (much) smaller towns. We were there in September, and that made a big difference in crowd levels. We haven't been to Iceland yet but everyone's photos and videos look amazing! Someday!
