@Rich - Came across this video now. Good effort for seniors.👍🏻 Keep it up. (1) Pls remember that shortcuts app is highly energy driven & can drain your battery quickly. Keep this in mind when using shortcuts when you are out & about & may want to preserve/extend battery life. Or when you are not carrying an external battery. It’s important to inform seniors about battery drainage aspect as well on usage of certain apps. Same goes for any AI app or AI web link which you may save on Home Screen. Drains battery quickly. (2) Camera app is available on your Lock Screen. If you need to capture a quick moment, simply long press the photo clicking button & it will start recording a video. Using the camera app directly from the Lock Screen is faster than creating a video shortcut. You may want to read through various functions of each button or app on the Apple website. This may help you with your videos.
Hi Rich. Love your videos and have seen almost all of them, thank you. In today's video the home screen on your iphone screen is particularly attractive to me. Any chance you can make a quick tutorial on making the screen? it is a night scene with a sliver of moon and some landscapes. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! You know, I've had so many people ask about my wallpapers. I think I'll do a video on how I find them and install them. Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you Richard. Your videos are so helpful! You are a great instructor and I appreciate all you do for us seniors! I would have NEVER used shortcuts until I ran across your video. Awesome, simply awesome. Thanks again. 😊
Thank you Rich. Just wanted to increase the number of shortcuts on my widget and searched for your video and ran it and now all good. Thank you for making things easy.
My favorite shortcut, and an icon for it is in my iPad dock, does: Looks for connected wifi name - if found, puts device in airplane mode and power saver engaged ... if not found, turns off airplane mode and power saver turned off This way, if I'm not using the device, it has very minimal power consumption
Re Shortcuts split screen.set up. When configuring the short cut it asks me what’s the 1st and a little blank box appears allowing you to enter the app name. It doesn’t show a list of the apps. I’m using 17.4.1
Do you know of a way either with shortcuts or something else to tell me which apps are hidden, they are in the app libary but they are not in a folder or on the home screen?
Hmm...not off the top of my head. I keep all (or most) of my apps in the App Library and use almost no folders. That keeps me from flipping around in folders trying to find an app.
In case it helps anyone else... On my iPhone 15 Pro Max, having just upgraded to iOS 17.4, Reminders was not present in the App Shortcuts list. I switched back to my home screen and opened the Reminders app, then switched back again and re-opened Shortcuts, and then Reminders showed up in the App Shortcuts list.
I've been thinking about a slightly more complex video on shortcuts. It's hard to find the line that's helpful and unhelpful (because of the complexity). Working on it...
Sorry this one wasn't for you. There's a little bit of work to get the hang of setting up and using shortcuts. For me, they've turned out to be worth the effort. But I completely understand! Thanks so much for watching!
Have now been through several of your videos - they are amazingly good - you show and explain it super well - thank you very much

Best explanation I’ve seen on this topic! Thanks!
You're very welcome!
Thank you very much
Thanks for the good tips. Good Job 👍😎
Thanks so much for watching!

You are very welcome! Glad it was helpful.
It would be good if you could do some videos in the larger print, as it is hard to see what you are doing. I really enjoy your videos. Thank you
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much for this! Very useful post! Love the app!
Thanks so much for watching!
Rich, is there a way with shortcuts to have smaller icons on the home page. My wife prefers the smaller icons.
How do I add Reminders? Mine does not have remindsrs...
Good Idea
Thanks!

What a great shortcut! Gonna set this one up!

Thanks for the tip! That didn't happen to me, but it could be because I'd opened Reminders earlier.
PS: I am a senior, so it still counts, lol!
Ha! Yes!
Could you dive a little deeper and show how to create your own shortcut?

Made absolutely no sense. I still can't get shortcuts to work. They are not intuitive at all.

Yes they don’t work for me either just seems another thing on the iPhone that doesn’t work the way you want it too .
