  • DIGGING THROUGH THE HOARD FOR VINTAGE FINDS | ESTATE SALE PREP
So you've wanted to see what it's like to plow through a hoard and turn it into an estate sale? A lot of people have been asking me to share this part of what I do, so here's a look behind the scenes as I dig in with my crew into this overstuffed house full of hidden treasure (we hope)! What will we find next?
This Florida waterfront house is the repository for three generations of stuff...first from a quarter century of family living here, along with heirlooms from grandpa's estate (is that a car under all those boxes?!). Extras brought from rental houses, leftovers from days spent fishing and attics stuffed with goodies from obsessive shopping trips at cruise ship boutiques and local flea markets make this a giant pile that takes our big crew days to plow through.
It's a true estate sale, and we're the first ones to touch some of this stuff in 25 years! On the surface, interesting and valuable vintage and collectibles share space with a ton of home furnishings, useful household items and endless categories of vintage and new items, all ready to sell at bargain prices.
Come along with me while we transform this hoard into a big organized estate sale paradise for collectors and resellers. Filming these daily updates (originally shown raw on Periscope) allows us the perfect platform for you to see how we tame the hoard and ferret out the fun and valuable from piles of unsorted randomness. With the benefit of hindsight, I add 'cameo' appearances to help explain my thoughts and processes as we find all the goodies and go through the steps of preparing the estate in this video series, debuting in three parts over the next three days.
Here's some of what we find on our first trip through the hoard:
Murano and Bohemian glass, chandeliers, vintage and new clothing, purses and accessories, sailfish taxidermy, 1980s novelty tables, 1970s table lamp, Russian tea sets, Swarovski crystal, Judaica, pelican painting, Paris paintings, perfume, costume jewelry, 1980s mirror clock, 1980s skyline mixed media, Houze Art trays, Eastern European pipe, ceramic Christmas tree, musical equipment, Treasure Craft fish tray, L.A. Potteries vases, Noritake china, Alvar Aalto vases, 1989 Lincoln Town Car, concrete and metal vintage patio furniture, license plates, Structo truck, wood cross from 1920s church, Italian neo-deco bedroom set, etc.

I'm rewatching a lot of your stuff. I laughed, "People in the 80's like to look at themselves." We were not at all that way in the 70's, few tattoos, no vivid coloured hair, usually brown, long and parted in the middle. Very little makeup, Lee or Levis jeans, and piercings just in the ears! So enjoy you George!

If there's a lot of the same thing, then I might waive my rule about not pre-buying; but my feeling is that I'm there to sell to other resellers and not cherry-pick the best stuff, I do get a commission for what I sell so it's only right to let other people see it. Besides, a ton of dealers show up at my sales because they know I don't take out all the good stuff before they get there

Its sad people work , work , work and then buy ,buy and buy and in the end did not even need or want the stuff. Its best to keep it simple and enjoy the little things.
