I'm sorry but in my opinion they did Vito dirty. They didn't age him too well. He was born in 1925 so he would be 42 or 43 in 1968 & they got him looking like he's in his late 60s early 70s. Ok I could see a few more wrinkles on his face & maybe the sides of his hair greyish white but not that. He looked like he was on his last legs.
@@GeraldEckhart you gotta remember, Mafia 3 takes place 17 years after Mafia 2. 17 years is a long time when you're in the mob. It's clearly changed him a lot, both mentally and physically. Stress can prematurely age a person.

For those who are unaware, Joe was actually confirmed to be alive. Here is my theory as to why Vito thinks Joe is dead, and why Joe wasn’t able to contact him. Since Vito was now protected thanks to him killing Falcone, he was allowed to live, but at the cost of losing his home in Empire Bay, and Joe as he was not part of the same deal. In truth, Joe was taken away in a separate car to be talked to about his own terms, likely believing that Vito was also going to be killed. He was offered an ultimatum: work in the Vinci Crime Family or die, but he is allowed to stay in Empire Bay. This source that Vito was using was likely secretly working for the Vinci Crime Family. He threw Vito way off the trail by saying that he broke free and fled to Chicago for help, but got fucked and brutally murdered, with the body no longer being recognizable. With this, Vito was led to believe Joe was dead, so he had Lincoln hunt the people he thought responsible and was satisfied. Joe likely also believed that Vito was murdered elsewhere as well, because otherwise he would have definitely tried to find him, meaning that he doesn’t know that he was alive if not exactly well in New Bordeaux. And coincidentally, Joe drove Leo to New Bordeaux as well, but did not know Lincoln was Vito’s new boss, but did sense something about him.
No, Joe is not confirmed to be alive. The only proof is a bunch of TH-camrs saying why they think he is and then saying it's proof positive. The driver that brought Leo to New Bordeaux is the same guy that drove Leo around Empire Bay and was locked up with him in Mafia 2, the guy who Vito was sparring with in prison, Pepe Costa. 2k has a page all about the characters in Mafia, him being one of them, and he's Leo's driver and bodyguard. 2k gave this story and stuck to the official word that Joe is dead. And like Vito said, if he were alive, Joe would have searched for very thorough and hard to find Vito and would have found him and hooked up with him. And 2k has not changed that story, and now they won't anytime soon because the next game is a prequel.
@@Helpline5815 They don't look alike at all and Leo's driver in Mafia III is Joe, if you look closely he has the exact same scar on his chin as Joe while Pepe doesn't have any scars on his face. Game files also name the driver's head textures as Joe and it is just a slightly aged version of Joe's head model and textures from Mafia 2 DE

Maybe the reason Joe was "dead" was because Joe had to protect Vito from something, idk what, probably the reason why Joe didn't find him and stuck around being Leo Galante's chauffeur.
@AtomicMushroomz the official Mafia Twitter run by the devs answered a question when someone asked them why they killed Joe they said "have you played Mafia 3? You would know he didn't die" along those lines. Also it's been proven to be Joe. The face texture is identical to the Mafia 2 Joe face texture except aged up.
Chicago existing in this game threw me off since Lost Haven is basically Chicago. mafia DE did a great job to w the Chicago accents and everything. Even in Casino by Scorsese which is a Chicago outfit movie the only guy who bothered to do a Midwest accent was Pesci.

@@rohan_3128 Empire Bay is mostly New York (as Lost Heaven is mostly Chicago), but it still combines a lot of other cities (including Boston, LA, San Francisco, etc.) and is something of its own. New Bordeaux in this regard is only New Orleans with a slight mountainous terrain.
