UPDATE: CG Precision has recently clarified that the controller should be mounted to the chassis and NOT the exhaust due to the potential for high frequency vibrations damaging the electronics. Doing so will void the warranty so proceed at your own risk (I personally do not have any other way to mount the controller, as my particular exhaust has the actuators physically placed further to the rear of the car such that the wiring would not reach the valves if I mounted the actuator in their recommended location) See here for detailed photos of their recommended mounting location: imgur.com/gallery/QydCpVh Thanks to @miltos for bringing this to my attention!
This video was everything I needed to know about getting a valve controller. Short and straight to the point, answering all the questions I had. Thanks man!
Thanks for the video bro. I installed mine today and boy now the g80 m3 comp finally sounds like it should be from factory...they should definitely open the valve all the way in the future lol
Thanks for your video, I purchased this product from your link and installed exactly lake you in the video. Everything good and enjoy it about 2 months and now it stop working. What should I do
Happy to hear it! When is it expected to arrive? I was torn between these and the orange as well, but felt the neutral silverstone would go better with whatever interior lighting I was in the mood for Let me know what other content you'd find helpful as well and I'll try my best to get to it
Can you try this experiment for me? Put the car in M2 mode, hit your homelink button to force the valves open and hit the exhaust button on the center console to turn off ASD. That “should” turn off ASD but give the more aggressive throttle mapping through the M2 button. Can you test this and let me know how it sounds? Also any drone on the highway with this setup? I have a manual 2021 M4 and it revs quite a bit higher than the auto on the HW. Great video and Thanks!
I have the Dahler on mine, but I assume they work the same. I always open my valves with the controller (homelink) before changing engine modes. That being said, I also used Bimmer Code to turn off ASD so my outcomes may differ. I have Sport + set on M2. When I go from Efficiency with the flaps open to M2, there’s no change in sound since my flaps are already fully open and ASD isn’t on inside the car. This also means there’s no burbles. But if I toggle on ASD (using the exhaust button) it functions like normal with engine sounds through the speakers and burbles when I let off the accelerator. When I want the car quiet, I just press the flap close button, switch to efficiency and it’s as quiet as factory. My exhaust setup is secondary cat delete, AA midpipe, OEM box, and the Dahler module.
I got the valve controller too but I can’t figure out if the exhaust button makes the car louder or it’s just pumping extra noise in the cabin. I hear more burbles but I’m trying to figure out if it’s louder outside.
Great video. Forgive my ignorance but can you not do this in the M settings for opening/closing the exhaust valves? *EDIT... .looks like regardless of what settings you set the vehicle to, the valve still do not stay open all the time. No brainer on which ones to get given the price. Great video!
Yup! The exhaust button mainly toggles Active Sound Design (ASD - the sound piped in through the speakers) as well as the burbles in Sport+ The valves also cannot be coded through e-sys/bimmercode as of now so getting a valve controller OR wiring them open manually are the only options currently
@@MrSarikafa Yes, when the valve is fully opened, it's definitely noticeable, moreso when you're in an enclosed space like a parking garage. Not anything close to being obnoxious, and I'd venture to guess most say it's not loud enough. Maybe a 10% increase in volume?
Hi grumpy just wanted to ask from here in the UK. what happens to the wire/plug on the other side? Is the original wire to the actuator left unplugged ? Great video thanks for the information cheers Chris
Hey there! The passenger side works the same way as the driver’s side - original wire goes to the wire harness plug from the controller box, and other wire harness plug goes into the actuator
Finally got mine and installed with help of your video. Mine didn't come with any install instructions. Do you know what the tube of dielectric grease is for?
Thank you for this video! Note that the mounting point for your controller is not correct. Check page 11 (VSC-2 Mounting Example) on the "VSC1 and VSC2 User Guide v4.pdf".
Question.. If I want my car to be in stock function until I active the controller what option do I select? Like i want my on button to open the flap and the off to close it. Thanks
Absolutely not - it would only be an issue if somehow the valves broke as a result of the controller, in which case I would simply remove the controller and bring it back to the dealer

Just installed my controller today thanks to this video.
I’ve been looking to get a valve controller and so glad I came across this video. Great explanation bro

Apparently the stock valves only crack “open”, a controller fully opens them.

It’s meant to be used on the connectors (weatherproofing). I didn’t use it either though
@@gausgarage thanks!
Thanks for the video! It was great and very straight forward. Any idea if this is something that’ll get flagged by bmw?
Nope it doesn’t leave any trace, and you can uninstall at any time
do you have a clip comparing sport plus oem vs sport plus full open?

Thanks for letting me know, I think they recently added this. Updated instructions in the pinned comment!
Do you know if the default valve on/off settings can be changed after purchase? Wanting to swap mine from how I purchased.
I do not; that’d be something to ask CG Precision support. Contact Walter via email wseaman@cgprecision.com
I'm about to order mine.. would you say there is a noticeable difference in person and while driving under load?
You will definitely notice it, but whether or not it’ll be enough sound for you at the end of the day will be different per person
@@gausgarage do you feel it was enough sound difference for you to leave the rest of the exhaust stock?
Nah, I have an akrapovic slip on now. Will post a vid on that one once I get everything edited!

does it can fully open your valves?
Yup, that’s the point of this mod
What’s the purpose of that ?? Waste of money ….
