I just finished my bag and the videos were super helpful. I made mine from denim for the outside and would NOT recommend that to others - it is just too thick, and even my very strong sewing machine struggled in places. The pattern is good, the directions are clear and I will be making another one soon!
Fabulous video, very clear instructions, thank you very much. I really appreciate the "real time" sewing, rather than rushing through. I think next time, instead of cutting out the corners, I'll use a square of fabric, and add the rectangular side pieces on after the zip, it just got cumbersome for me. Also, I couldn't sew the zip and both pieces of fabric all in one go, I'm just not clever enough! My bag looks great, thank you very much.
I'm on my 8th bag (Dignity Bag charity) and have been glued to the video instructions, on slowest speed, each time, for the ZIPPER! There'll be a good finished bag but I wouldn't call it "easy". I'm not a top class sew-er but I have been sewing for 40 years too.
@@sweetcinnamonroses Thanks for responding! It mostly would be clearer by slowing the pace. Perhaps pauses between adding layers down as you say ... right/wrong side, facing up/down. More slow pointing to show pieces. Emphasise edge to 'which' edge and lastly, beginners don't know the term sandwich in sewing, especially with a zip in the middle, but not really in the 'middle'. Printed instructons: If you are patch working the outer bag, you will need ... etc. If you are using uncut fabric you will need ... etc. I managed, I made lots, so I do appeciate your pattern.
Hi, great video! I've been getting into quilting recently and this looks like such a great project! I've got so many pattern pieces, i definitely think I'll give the scrap bag a try
I just finished this duffle bag, thank you for the video & pattern. I did figure out how to add inner pockets & on the other side, a zippered pocket. I made the large one. I omitted the long strap & buckles, but was very dissapointed at how short my handles are. I would advise others making this, to add at least 2-3 inches to the handle measurement. I have been sewing for 40+ years & did not measure them wrong. Otherwise, it was a fun make
So happy to hear how easy it was to customise your duffle bag. Sounds amazing. And re the straps, if they were a little short for your liking, you can definitely make them longer ❤️

Thanks for the wonderful tutorial! I'm excited to make it! Where do you buy your hardware from? I would love to have fun hardware colors on the bag. :)

I am sewing on a Janome M7 and using mostly my HP foot in combination with my HP needle plate and standard needle plate to create my 1/4” and 1/8” SA. Works like a charm but it’s quite specific to this machine ❤️

Me again ... check your fabric has no stretch at all. A costly mistake and a waste of sewing time. (I must be thick to have struggled with this, as everyone else has breezed through.)

Ohhh yes. That does sound tricky. Sewing over layers and layers of denim. Did you try quilting cotton?
@@sweetcinnamonroses that is what used for my second attempt and it worked like a dream!

What do you find tricky about the zipper? So I can make sure to go in more detail… ❤️

Yes. Don’t use stretchy fabric. Highly recommend quilting cotton or even canvas (with no extra interfacing).
