  • This video describes tools and methods on how I unplug a square hay baler when hay is jammed in the baler. I demonstrate the steps on a John Deere 338 square hay baler while I rebale hay. This method applies to other brands and models. This method would also work in the field. This is fast method including replacing the shear bolt at the fly wheel. Moving the plunger in the proper position allows the operator access to the jam is discussed.

Unplugging am Inline sometimes requires removing the rear upsweep chamber panel under the plunger to dig out the wad... The plunger actually pushes the charge off the stuffer forks.. There are 3 segmented knives on bottom of plunger & 2 W shaped knives on the bottom of chamber.... on the MF1840 inline

I am not at all experienced on inline balers. I am glad you brought it up and explained it a bit. Plugging is never fun and slows down production. I try to avoid it if possible.

When we were contemplating Rebaling, we gave the Hustler a look, but a operation that had the Simpson unrollering system became for sale so we bought the whole shooting match.... After we moved the tables, baler and Bale Bandit we studied the movement of the unrolled hay through the process and changed loading procedures, discontinued certain features, added flow and speed controls, and changed it from someone having to work levers to engage and disengage To set the feed speed, and just observe ... You would be amazed at the difference of Not removing the wrap untill the bale has been dropped onto the first elevated table , made in Eliminating large wads of hay being fed into the Baler.... The Wrap is not cut it is removed the same way it was put on.,,, pulling the wrap fouls the wrap with Hay......... Presently researching methods of adjustable controling speed of pickup fingers on Baler.....
